We Make That Decision.

Oh those themes, we tend to flow along with them.  Themes, we’re in the midst of one right now.

Its basis and foundation is Honesty, but around the edges is:

directional choice.

We can decide to go this route or that one, or we may select another entirely.  Are all of the available options in our best interest?  Nope, not even close.

Some might be simple, while others appear more challenging.  The best way to know what’s our truest course, our best path, is to listen.

Quietly, from within will come a voice.  Or an image.  Maybe even a feeling.  Follow it.

Also, speaking of such things, I was directed (strongly!) to leave our regular rotation around the card altar earlier.  We needed to see this draw.

lead by example

“Follow the Leader  ~  40  ~

‘Every life is a teaching tool for others.  Your authenticity and honesty are an example to those around you.’

You are being called to lead others by example.  Your wisdom has been earned as a result of your bravery in the adventure of your life.

The experiences, of battles, won and lost, places discovered, tears shed, and joy revealed have placed you in a unique position to be of service to others.

Your suffering has been crystallized into a talisman of wisdom.  Now you must share it.

By being fully authentic, you will lead others into the light.  You’ll be required to divulge some things about your past so that you may help someone else.

Lead with love.

There is another message here as well.  Look to those whose great character and accomplishments you admire.  Emulate the leaders that you respect.

You will then in turn have more to offer.”

Today’s Plea For Aid:

is to ask everyone for prayers, mind darts, focused intentions, or (your favorite description of) good vibes for my Empress right now, as she and her guy are dealing with car issues, and can use all the help they can get.  Thank you.

Helping Up and Out.

Tomorrow we hit the road, well before noon, and head north.  Hopefully making excellent time and never getting lost.  Arriving at the wedding well before the start hour.  The day after, we load up, again WAY damn early, and come home.

Fingers crossed that, again, we make terrific travel time, so that we can pedal out for our appointed event.  This afternoon I had a photo cropped and copied.   *A* believes that if I am prepared, and have my ducks in a row, as it were, that this Release will be more genuine and meaningful.  Of course she’s right.

I don’t want to say that we’ll have “props” while we gather at the memorial bench, but we will have items of import.  Here’s the picture I came across, that we’ll be using for a focal point.

(This is a bad representation, and for some reason it is glaringly yellow.  Blame the fact that it was me and my camera, trying to capture a very old proof which was never actually finished to portrait quality.  In our poorly lit Burrow.)

sisters as attendants,

Speaking of weddings.

There were no attendants for our civil ceremony, just a Best Man, and a Best Sister.  Dan’s sisters had other, very important jobs, as did my brother.  But Gay stood up with me for the official part.  (She was barely in high school.)

Today, truthfully, was the first time in several decades that I went through my wedding album.  And really looked at all of the people who were there.  It made me cry, but is was good.  So healing.  And so freaking connected to where we’ll be tomorrow!

Last night I didn’t sleep well.  My arm (which has a strange heat-rash…. stress, anyone?!) was itchy to the point of bothering everybody.  It was so bad that I got up.  (Read that again.  I left the bed!  THAT’S how annoying it was, and how well I did NOT sleep.)

But when the alarm started to irritate us all, I only hit the snooze once.  And here’s what I heard:

we might not gain enough by continuing to live in the rubble;

it may not be worth the effort;

so repair and rebuild as soon as possible.

This seemed to be saying that, sure we all have lessons, but let’s not wallow in the self-pity to the point of injury and discomfort.  Especially when we can have a delightfully refreshing new start to perk us up and brighten our journey.

(Or, ya know, however that applies to you and your situation.   Interpretation is relative.)

On to the card alter, where we continue to move around in our regular rotation.  If you are new here, you may not be aware of the fact that I’m a huge fan of J.C.  Those of you who know me, will already realize how happy I was to see him show up in today’s draw.

(Atheists, Tribalists, Shamanists, other Pagans, or any one else who may be bothered by the following, feel free to move past it.  We haven’t spoken this outloud in a while, but this blog remains a Hate Free Zone, tolerating all loving beliefs and caring systems of thought.)

jesus christ, angel cards, miracles

“Miracle  ~  Christ

Christ is with you and is engendering a miracle for you and the situation you are asking about.  He shines God’s light upon you and your loved ones, keeping you all safe and protected.  You’ve asked for a miracle, and one is with you.  Let go of how you think it should appear, as it comes directly from God’s infinite wisdom, through Jesus Christ, and into your life.

Jesus is lending you his supreme belief in the Almighty’s power in order to help stay filled with trust and hope.   He reminds you that with faith, all things are possible, and that you  (like everyone) deserve Heaven’s help, love, and attention.  You don’t need to be a perfect person to enlist Christ’s support.

Be open to receiving help in a miraculous and ingenious way.  Know that you deserve this gift from the Universe.   After all, this miracle not only helps you, but it inspires faith in others.”

I’d like to add that it also inspires lovingkindness.  We all know that when we help, or accept offers of help, it ripples out, befitting everyone near and far.

Additionally, here’s a private thing.  It’s what I say in my mind, whenever I read excessively religious (as opposed to generically spiritual) definitions like this one:  Mr and Mrs God.

I think of them like camp hosts, or, as if they were a managing couple, overseeing the apartment complex of the World.  We are the renters/campers, and they are the ones we go to when the plumbing backs up or the dumpsters are over-full.

So, obviously,  today’s Miracle Worker is head of maintenance.  He’s the guy who actually DOES the fixing.  (You’re welcome.)

Saints & Angels Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue

Today’s Mileage:

is really close to yesterday’s, even though I went a slightly different direction, for 7.486 miles, in 43 minutes 42 seconds, with a slower average pace of 10.2 MPH.

FLP Report:

Virginia, Maine, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, several Alaska, more Washington and California than I could count.   All of this in a six block strip.   Yeah, I’d say students are starting to show up.

LateNight Sharing:

even though this is NOT my favorite group (seriously, it really isn’t), click HERE to see (and hear) what song has been in my head all day.  (Be sure to read along with the lyrics, because wow…..)

Truly Who (and Where) We Are.

We developed a theme today.  And it ran.  All day.  It was about how things actually DO happen when they are supposed to.  And how delays, detours, and down-right blockade diversions are precisely what we need when they step into our direct paths.

Of course, during the collapsing time, we are convinced that this is a disaster and we’ll never make it out alive.  The other side just seems impossible to reach.  But then, we survived.   And we are strong.  And often, we have a really good story to tell.  Or, in the case of our beautiful (and massively talented) friend Amanda, a song to sing.

What I woke up with today did not really give me a clue as to how very insightful it, eventually, turned out to be.

Joy.

Pleasure.

Entertainment.

Endurance.

Then, our daily draw pops up with a big ol’ huge heaping helping of validation.  Nice one, Universe, nice one.  (Please note, the photo is horrible, and I have no idea why.  Pretend it’s all sparkly/pretty, like THESE images.)

amethyst, crystals, oracle cards, healing stones

“Amethyst  ~

spirituality, positive transformation, meditation

You are being urged to embrace your shadow side.  Take an inventory of all those aspects of yourself that  you are afraid to show the world because you perceive them to be bad or inadequate.

Meditate on these qualities.  Acknowledge them, see how they serve both you and others, then love them, and bring them into your heart.

When you realise that every aspect of you serves a purpose, there will be no need to deny half of who you are.  Just be yourself and understand that there is nothing in your life to fix.  There are simply aspects of yourself yearning to be embraced and loved.

This is a profound change – a time of positive transformation which will have a lasting impact on every area of your life, and to some degree, on those around you.”

We ARE who we need to be and we ARE doing what we arrived here to do. The best way to understand all of it is to listen.  Sit quietly, go within, hear the stories that our soul tells.  And most importantly, live in a genuinely loving way.

Because, bottom line?  We’re doin’ great, and this journey is an absolutely terrific one.

Today’s  Mileage:

was to the pool and back, 3.839 in 25 minutes 4 seconds, at a leisurely pace of 9.1 MPH.  With Dan, who could not get his smarty-pants phone to hold a signal for the mapping program.

Tonight’s Kitchen Adventure:

has yet to be taken out of the oven.  Remember that volunteer tree we found in our backyard last year?  With fruit on it?

cherry-plums

Cherry-plums?

This summer’s crop (seen in the above view) is massive (comparatively speaking, the last harvest yield was: 3).  So we created a mixed-fruit crisp for dessert, using these guys and the front yard blueberries.  We’ll let you know how it turns out.

LateNight Sharing:

is THIS dog walk* that “the guys” went on while I was here in my computer chair.  (I sent them out for ice cream to go with our baked treat.)

*Be sure you zoom in, because holy crap, it’s hilarious.

Sticking Strength.

It dawned on me while I was in the shower this evening that we hadn’t talked about my No Shampoo changes in a while.  Partly this is because I never even think about it that much anymore.  Which, really, is pretty cool.  And nicely affordable.  Since ya know, I no longer buy shampoo or conditioner.

(No real changes to report.   Still mostly just rinsing my head, and using the baking soda/vinegar-or-lemon juice rinse less and less.)

It’s the simplest way to get rid of one more bit of consumerism* in my life.  Goal-wise, I’d like to do that more.  But I also am extremely pleased with how much we’ve done just in the past year.  Not driving, reusing all my bags when we buy bulk products.  Nearly no premade or packaged food into the house.  Not smoking, drinking only water.  Kinda big moves, and not very hard to do at all.

*Toxic chemicals, too.

repurposed clothing

Simple.

Last month I spent a few moments with my ancient, but still excellent, embroidery scissors and snipped away everything but the elastic from a pair of Dan’s old undies.  I did two pair, actually.  One I’ve already got my eye on for a new bicycling skirt, but the other I haven’t put a project to yet.  No doubt, it’ll be used in a similar fashion.  Yes, I re-purpose LOTS of shit around here.  It’s the epitome of what the word “recycle” means.

Many of the ideas I get, I just know are not mine originally.  Which is partly what our card today has to say.

oracle cards and self-care

Guidance  ~

Ask for guidance.

The Divine will meet your every need.”

Another topic we haven’t touched on recently is the idea of Infused Knowledge.  We have guides and Teams and all of these helpers because we need that kind of assistance; it’s what keeps this physical experience spiritual.  We can all use a bit of a nudge from time to time.  Inspirations and flashes of brilliance are very often our guardians whispering in our ears.

And even though we JUST got this type of message recently, apparently we needed it again.  Because we aren’t asking for enough help, or maybe the reminder is simply here to keep us feeling connected. Because when we acknowledge our Universal signs and assistance, as we all know, we are better able to receive additional help and see everything more clearly.

One of the things I like best about this entire situation is that it makes not one damn bit of difference WHO you call on, we get answers and aid regardless.  Nothing more is necessary.  Be open, pay attention, ask.  And as always, say Thank You.

Self-Care Oracle Cards by Cheryl Richardson

Thinking, Being, Learning.

As you well know, I’m reading about five books at once, pretty much on a regular basis now.  Some of that I want to share tonight.  But before I forget, I have to tell you how Dan has recently diagnosed me as having late-on-set ADD, because I sent him the following message:

Bah!  I just bashed my damn knee on the damn table playing with the damn dog.  That’ll leave a mark.  Ooooo, Jade found my wallet in his car. Woot!

What?  Lots of things happen at the same split second around me, I can’t help that!  (There MAY be other examples from today, but let’s not go there.)  Also, he got all worried-y after the new panniers were installed on my bike.  See, I tend to ride withOUT my hands steering me.  Ever since I remembered that I COULD, I just don’t use my handle bars unless I HAVE to.

So he says that I need to pay more attention, and stop “screwing around,” by which he means, put both hands on the controls.   Mmm, sure, Honey.   Seriously though, I actually need to be careful because like this afternoon, both saddle bags were heavy, and it changes the way I balance and ride.  Really, the man just panics way too much.

Back to my original idea, the books I’m reading right now.  What *A* assigned me is an older version of a really great concept.  Written by Susan Kano, “Making Peace With Food” was first published in 1989.  So far, and I’m maybe half-way done, it’s all still quite valid.  Here’s what I came across just now, and needed to share:

“….. it is possible to control food intake.  We can deny our bodies carbohydrates no matter how much they scream with need, and we can deny ourselves food until we die of starvation.  If this were not so, political protesters and anorexics would not be able to starve themselves to death.  In order to deny demon hunger*, however, we must have tremendous self-destructive conviction.  We must believe that starvation is somehow essential – that unless we persist, we are in some way doomed.  Once we are that desperate  all kinds of irrational mind games and intricate methods of avoiding ‘unwanted calories’ become possible.  Our minds are so powerful that we are capable of almost anything, including profound self-deception.”

*She describes it as, “watching ourselves eat when we feel desperate to eat, yet desperate to stop eating, is a horrifying experience.   We assume that the voice of the inner dieter is rational, and that the hungry voice is evil and irrational.  We are horrified when hunger wins.  I call this overpowering hunger ‘demon hunger,’ because many people feel it possesses them like a starving demonic entity.”

We all know that dieting does not work.  It’s a fact we simply need to face.  No exceptions.  Part of my time in counseling right now is spent discussing this, and accepting this, and getting my mind wrapped around this.  Not easy.  And really not very fun.  But it’s also necessary.  I am no longer willing to live my life being terrified of eating, gaining weight, or just plain old obsessing about every molecule of nutrition.

The reason she recommended this book in particular is because she’s familiar with it, it helped her.  So, I trust that.  Because I trust her.  My biggest struggle is mental, which at first felt so odd, because it seems like it would be all about the physical.  Many of us are painfully aware  that it is not.   I’m actually making some decent progress.  But, it.  Is.  Slow.  On the plus side, I know that it won’t take me another 50 years.

Before we took off on the bikes earlier, I had a chance to peek at our daily draw.  The illustration is typical Toni, but not so porn-y this time.  Unfortunately, strangeness with the eyes, again.  (And what the hell is going on with that mouth.)  Positive spin?  The message rocks!

oracle cards, messages of financial success

Angel Of Finances  ~

Honour and give thanks for the blessings you are about to receive.

You are about to receive a substantial sum of money or a substantial stream of money is about to enter your life.  You have drawn this card because of your faith in the universe and your strong commitment to your purpose.

The Angel of Finances is here to remind you that external wealth simply mirrors our internal beliefs.  You can choose to see the world as lacking or you can see it as abundant.  You have realised that money is simply energy, a means of exchange which reflects your values and the way you view life.

Honour and give thanks for the blessings you are about to receive and remember to put your money to good use.   Spend and invest your money in ways that help you further your true purpose and long term goals, whatever they may be.”

Are we all ready to give some big ol’ thanks and massive waves of gratitude?  Hell yeah!

LateNight Clarification:

I totally would have linked Susan’s book to something if I could have found a site that wasn’t just Amazon or GoodReads.  She seems to have only done this, then disappeared after writing it.  (Which makes me worry, because that’s what I do.)  Also, I have no google-fu, so unless  you pop up instantly,  I can’t locate you.

Additionally:

dressesd up dogs, scarves with hair attached, groomer's humour

Empress says,
“… wearing a headscarf with fake hair attached.”

If The Bloggess can post pictures of her cats in wigs I can absolutely put up phone photos that Emmy sends me from the salon of dogs in costumes.  (Max NEEDS this!)

And One More Thing:

it crossed my mind recently that I might like seeing how much we bike, here in black-and-white.  Plus I have a new toy (more on that later) which was a birthday gift (it measures two-wheeled distance).   There may be a daily tally at some point, or possibly not, just a thought.

Today’s Ride:

5 and a half miles, with cargo, no rain.
