Being, not Doing

We’ve spoken before about counting our blessings and living in the moment.  The entire concept of intention has been on my mind lately.

Which means it connects to where the Universe wants us to focus right now.

Small Gifts

My days off from the “day” job feel rare and rushed.  We are still living partly out of boxes, re-buying shit we can’t find here in the new place.  While at the same time discovering items we thought were lost forever.  It’s very roller coaster-y.

But also, it is fulfilling in tiny and unexpected ways. Projects and tasks DO get accomplished.  It is gratifying to see how far we’ve come, enjoyable to sit and merely BE in this space.

It is a simple kind of peace, in a wee abode we do not own.

I am actively practicing my In The Moment appreciation; pointedly, mindfully.  Daily I gather around me the Gratitude Attitude and say my Thank Yous outloud.  It is intentional, and it is healing.

In the place where our new altar will (eventually) be this is reflected perfectly by our visiting messenger.

persistence

“Mouse   ~

Be persistent and inclusive and all obstacles will be overcome.

Mouse is tiny and gentle but no shell is so hard that she cannot reach the delicious center within, and no obstacle so tough that it cannot be overcome.

As your guide Mouse counsels persistence so you, too, may break through the barriers which block success.

Vulnerable to many, she must scrutinize and look beyond the obvious to the pattern within and assess the hidden agenda of others.

Emulate Mouse, and your path through life will be safe indeed.”

is to report on my office situation.

The update is, I now have a desk.  On a freshly cleaned rug, over beautiful (probably 70 plus year old) hardwood floors.

We couldn’t find (nor afford) an antique Victorian style for me to pull my chair up to, but this one will do.  For now.

             Progress.  It is technically happening.

(Additionally, there’s a ceiling fan in this room, it is more delightful than I ever could have imagined.  I mean, moving air!)

Kindred

Yesterday I spent a significant amount of my day with an 8-year-old. She is not related to me by genetics, but her parents and siblings have become like family.

Again the Universe is telling us it’s time to revisit the conversation around that concept of: it takes a village.  And how without support, well.  Everything is just that much more challenging.

             Here’s what I’m hearing ……

tribe

Who makes up our closest, our near-and-dear, our most loved individuals?  Whoever they are, they’re never all related to us by blood, by DNA.

Often, our core group is a gathering of like-minded souls, with some genuine relatives mixed in.  It matters not one bit what this ratio of the blend is, nor really, what the numbers even are.

The important and valuable part?  That we take care of our clan, that we hold them close and back them up.  That we love them, unconditionally, and we are there to support them.

Because we know, they’ll be there for us.  One of the best ways to make sure we’re recharged and can help family when called upon is to take care of ourselves.

On what is taking the place of my card altar right now (see phone pic below), we are being validated in that very sentiment.  We MUST practice Self Care, and then, we can be of use to those we love.

Most of the cards, but (almost) none of the treasures.

For the first time in the five weeks since we’ve been handed the keys to this place, I got to be in the house, and get shit done.  It’s been nice.  And soon, I’m sure, it will (finally) feel like home.

(Camera battery recharging cord, still lost.  The replacement device my Beloved ordered for me seems to not be working.)

.

Advance and Process

I’m sitting at a make-shift desk, in the house where we now live.  My Empress occupies our formal adobe. It’s been slow, and difficult.  But ….. I’m sitting at a make-shift desk.  In the house.  Where we now live.

Let’s call that progress, shall we?  Because, what I’ve been hearing about, and what I’m learning so clearly right now, is that we must be thankful, we must notice the gifts.  We absolutely must

stay flexible.

Nothing around here is done.  Nothing at the other house is done, either.  Two families are half-in, half-out of old and new situations.  But for this moment in time, none of us is homeLESS.  We are dry in the rain and warm in the cold.  (Hopefully, we’ll also be cool in the heat, too.)

Things change.  That’s the way our journey goes.  It’s the very WAY this life is.  When we get too caught up in staying the same, we lose out on what might come along for us.

It’s been challenging, this move, this tiny bit of progress.  But it’s also been kinda fun.  And that’s what we all could focus more on.  The fun.  The joy.  The little steps of advancement.

Behind me, sitting atop (what is now taking the place of) our altar, is a great validation.  We have to take the time to see the nice vantage points.   Stop along the route and enjoy pleasant surroundings.

The travel is part of this adventure!  We are constantly in motion, let’s notice and appreciate where it takes us.

Six of Swords

This is one of the VisionQuest cards.  The journey, the lesson, the movement is what we focus on here.

But also, take note of where this individual is headed.  See the tiny star in that hillside?

The goal is to find our shining future, and aim for it; enjoy the scenery, and get to our destination when we get there.  It’ll be well worth the time spent.  Because truthfully, we have plenty of time to spend.
