To Adapt

Many of us have difficulty with Change.  “New” is not always better, in our eyes.  (I, personally, prefer nearly everything from before 1900……)

This past year or so has been nothing BUT upheaval and challenges and different for me, for my family.  But, I’ve also embraced much of it.

I’m not “better” at dealing with Change, but I am learning the lessons of

And since our journey here, this life we’ve mapped out, is all about the lessons, it’s beneficial to address our success as well as our less-than-successful experiences.

There’s no such thing as mistakes, nor failure.  So, all of the aspects involved are worthwhile.  (Some simply feel more positive than others, that’s okay, perception is as unique as we are.)

The Universe, in Its divine and infinite wisdom, has even given us this gift of validation.  As if to say, “hey, you’re doing well, keep up the good work!”

“Opportunity  ~

Release your ties to the past.

When you let go of the old,

you make room for the new.”

While I’m not such a huge fan of “new” I do feel willing to accept these Opportunities for the promises that they are.

is this view from  Instagram.

See this #tinyhouse? It's called The Vicarage, and it's some sort of #collectable (from #england, of course). Next to it, for size reference, is a #VotiveCandle. It's no bigger than a medium #pear. I found it in a #SecondHand shop recently. It called out to me (and was incredibly #inexpensive), so I brought it #home. Some days I just walk around the #SmallHouse we live in, enjoying our space, carrying my #vicarage, feeling it with my fingers, and cradling it in my hands. I like the #miniature detailed nature of it, and I really like living here. The two places are similar, linked. New post up, on the website. I'm expressing #gratitude and working to #destress.              I don’t always post when there are updates here; Social Media and I have a complicated relationship.  Sometimes there is crossover, sometimes not.  Sometimes it’s timely, sometimes it’s not.

In the business of marketing, where their job is to sell us more crap than we actually need, they speak of sales cycles.  There are times of the year when people really don’t want to go out and buy.  In fact, we’d rather not leave the damn house at all.

It’s more natural for us (as animals) to hunker down as the days grow darker and shorter.  Fall is a time for gathering the harvest, but winter months are for staying inside.

I’ve been thinking about that hibernation tendency a lot lately.  Dan and I are attending yoga classes twice a week now (one on land, one in the water).  It is truly the most beautiful and empowering hour of that day.

The very possibility of those types of calm, inwardly reflective moments is what the Universe wants to reminds us of.

When we are focused and alert, we are better suited for receiving our messages.  When we turn within, either in prayer or meditation or yoga or simply a quiet, still few minutes which we grab for ourselves, we are nourishing the soul.

We are giving ourselves the ultimate gift.  We are involved in Self-Care on the highest level.  And we all know where that leads, out and around and rippling off into the rest of our lives.  Benefiting not just us, but every person we care about.

The other thing we know about Self-Care and positively focused intention, is that they provide results.  Like this, for example.  Of all the cards, in all the decks, our draw right now couldn’t be more perfectly validating if I’d sat down for endless hours and manually tried to FIND one better suited.

“Proceeding Softly  ~

‘My inner power grows in moments of quietude.’

Card meaning:

Go forward, slowly and gently.  Stop to smell the daisies and enjoy the view.  Love and appreciate what is here now.

The Universe wants you to know:

When you take your time and go slowly, new perceptions blossom that you can’t see if you’re moving fast.  Step out of the rapid pace of everyday life, and step into the majesty of stillness.

Resist the impulse to go ahead with your first conditioned response, and tune in to your deep instinctual intuition.  Power is born when you relax into the present moment.

Questions to ask yourself:

What is the underlying wisdom for me regarding being cautious?  Is there an area of my life where I should slow down?  Should I view a certain person or situation in my life with caution?

My inner power grows in moments of quietude.”

Today’s Gratitude:

is to say Thank You for whoever it was that protected Daniel last night, in the rain and dark, when he ended up over the handlebars of his bike.  No one else was involved, he suffered only minor injuries, and will be fine.  (The bicycle is also perfectly fine.  The gloves, we had to replace.)

It just could have been much worse, so thanks, to those who kept him safe, and to him, for his quick instincts and self-preservation skills.  (That black eye is impressive, though.)

Defensive Release

Remember when we talked about how each of us have our own geniuses?  How we all learn in our own individual way?  I was reminded of this just now.  It was made known to me that there is a particular method, a way in which I comprehend most clearly.

I can cement a concept better into my conscious brain if there is a sensible and basic structure.  It has to arrive with a usable image, an illustration that rings true, somewhere deep inside of me.

And this time, it appeared as our message.

Travel Light

Baggage (emotional or physical, real or metaphorical) is heavy.  And it’s burdensome.  It can be challenging to manage.

The Universe is suggesting that we leave it behind.  Just walk away.  It is recommended that we journey only with a small carry-on.  When we arrive someplace, we can then add to what we’ve already (easily) been able to tote with us.

But, if we’ve brought every single bit of crap in our pockets, packed in bags and luggage, balanced on our head, we don’t have room for anything new, and we certainly can’t enjoy the scenery.  We’re too busy managing our gear to be able to look out and gaze at the view.

For me, personally, this is a complicated and difficult lesson.  But, when it’s framed in such a way that I can SEE it, then it becomes more accessible and less stressful to assimilate.

The messenger who is currently perched on our card altar represents a timely validation.  It can be so complicated, looking at our own skills and flaws (going through that baggage).  And yet, when done honestly, it only helps us to shine more brightly (and freely).

In the end, a genuine review (and a sharing) gives us the assistance we need to move forward in a less prickly and harsh manner.

“Porcupine  ~

‘You may defend yourself honorably without hurting those close to you.’

Porcupine trusts in the world.  Individual but unterritorial she shares her dens, her favorite verdant pastures, and is rewarded with plenty.

But when trust is broken Porcupine defends herself fiercely with barbed quills, causing even Tiger to defer.  Like Porcupine, share your bounty with others, be it material or emotional, and discover that it returns to you tenfold.

Trust in others while not hesitating in defense and you too will garner the respect that Porcupine commands and the happiness you deserve.”

Today’s Counting News:

is to say that the post you are reading right now is number 2211.  In symbology, repeated numerals always have a deep and profound meaning.  Twos and ones bring us balance as we start anew.

The duality of Two (repeated), alongside the individuality of One (as Eleven), shows us how to work together, begin team projects energetically, while still maintaining our own sense of who we are.

From THIS site, we have the idea that “2211 is a number of family, harmony, and companionship, with an occasional desire to be alone for a while.”

I love that definition, it perfectly describes me.  It also, apparently, is precisely where we are right now.

Smooth and Even

As previously discussed here, Time and I have a troubled relationship.  We accept this truth, and move on.

But the Universe thinks that we maybe need to address some other aspects of where and how and when we do what we do.  Because doling out portions of ourselves and our energy are pretty freaking important.

Time Caring

Like how recently we’ve been talking about giving the gift of personal space to our loved ones, this message begins with Self-Care.  We can’t help others if we are handicapped or in need of our own healing.

Where do we spend the most time?  Is it in a healthy and uplifting place?  Or is it in a shitty and negative environment which brings us down?  That currency of our time, it’s more valuable than we often give it credit for.

Spending hours on something that only makes us angry is the very opposite of what we’re here to accomplish.  Our lessons and challenges are so much more effective when they are met and dealt with in loving and supportive surroundings.

It can seem as though we aren’t being given a choice, that we have to do the worst and yuckiest jobs.  But in reality, we do not need to suffer.  We can take another road.

We can always go a different route.  Leaving behind that which no longer serves.   That which only causes sorrow or pain.  We always have free will to opt out.

Or, opt in, if that’s the selection we see as our best next step.   Earlier, I was directed to flip this daily draw.  The illustration feels more effortless than the text, but I do see how it absolutely relates to us (and what we need to hear) right now.

“Balancing Act  ~  11  ~

‘You are calm within, no matter the fluctuations of outer conditions.’

There are times when thing seem a bit topsy-turvy, and it feels as if you are juggling a thousand balls in the air.

Perhaps you’re unsure of your footing.  Now is the moment to evaluate which areas of your life need balance and then restore equilibrium.

Choose harmony over discord, and great success will be yours.  You’ll find inner stability when you choose a balanced, focused, and level path.”

is food focused.  So get your printer or pencil-and-recipe card warmed up, you’re gonna want to take notes.

Go HERE and read Alana‘s post.  Then (we’ll wait), come back and we can chat about how our version turned out.

Daniel and I went with rainbow carrots and a large parsnip, chopped in to matchsticks (as Alana does).  I’d change that maybe next time.  It took him ages to cut them all up (a task I am not authorized to help with, no one wants to see me, or the meal, injured); they, most likely, would have been fine in any shape.

The tahini curdled (seized?) as soon as our lemon juice hit the bowl.  Because it came from a bottle and not an actual lemon?  Possible, but we used it anyway.  The flavor didn’t change, it was simply a more creamy version, not so drizzle-ish.

Herbage.  We added WAY more than they called or.  And, we splashed a bit more lemon juice as a sort of dressing.  (See above regarding tahini incident.)

THIS is where I found the za’atar recipe we used, but I’m sure any would be fine.  We liked it, and added a bit more when we put the feta on, as we served it onto our plates.  (Yes, after all I said about bowls, we ate it on a plate……. I know.)

Will we do this again?  Yes.  We love trying new ideas, and this one was a winner.  (Also, he doesn’t know this yet, but I’m already thinking up other places to toss that za’atar into, on top of, around with.)

Tend To

One of my personal lessons (and now, tasks in therapy) is to recognize value.  Our personal importance, something we’re all born wearing.  That unique quality of “here I am, this is me” which we all arrive on this planet with.

Our culture is not good about promoting a gentle, concerning attitude.  In fact, it tends to excel in the other direction, that of breaking us down.  Especially towards young women who do not look like the current fashionable ideal.

This morning I heard and saw images that we need to address now.

Loving Self-Care

How amazing would everyday life be if we truly appreciated our very own special type of beauty?  How much more peaceful would our entire world be if each individual recognized her inherent brilliance?

The Universe wants us to be on the awares, be alert for, and conscious of anything that is defeating.  Anything negative and aimed within.

When we acknowledge that we are so very wonderful and worthy, then that lovingkindness can ripple out, and spread, and be shared with all.  Because we are, we’re valuable.  We matter.

On our card altar right now, this validation is just the inspiration we can take along, as a To Go gift which blends so very nicely with our message.

“Dream Big  ~

‘Let go of small thoughts about yourself!

See yourself succeeding!’

In the past, you may have seen yourself as insignificant.  This card asks you to release any thoughts or feelings of inferiority.   Truly believe that you are utterly qualified for any endeavor you can dream about!

Write down a list of your fears about moving forward, and then ‘drown’ those fears by putting the paper into a bucket or large bowl of water.  Then, take a cleansing shower, bath, or swim.

The water seals your new way of seeing yourself . . . .

as you are in truth: an equal to all.”
