Staying on Track, and still saying

The changes in my life recently have not been how I expected this chapter to unfold.  Because Life goes where it needs to go.  Taking us to the places we need to be.

Never is it how we thought it would happen.  A turn here, a twist there, a detour we had NO fucking clue was up ahead.  We travel, we experience.  We follow the path, or we veer away from it.

Right now all I keep hearing is how Acceptance and Appreciation must be in our line of sight at all times, it must be where we’re aiming.  We absolutely can’t make the progress which will help us the most if we don’t embrace those factors.

            The Universe says it’s about:

To acknowledge our blessings, our lessons, our challenges, that’s where we live in the moment.  That’s where we are ALIVE in a genuine and soulful way.

To recognize our opportunities as well as those options we can just let pass us by, that’s vital.  Never worry that we’ll miss out.  We definitely won’t.  We’re always in the right place at the right time.

In fact, on our card altar, this Special Occasion visitor reminds us why.

“Emu  ~  12  ~  Endurance

First in the Category of Fire

A solar influenced creature, Emu speaks of the responsibility afforded to fathers who find themselves raising their children singlehandedly.  Emu Dreaming lends itself to the teaching of effective parenting skills and the endurance that is required to execute the role, especially under difficult conditions.

. . . . . look at how you are holding up physically and emotionally to the stresses of life.  Perhaps you need to pace yourself better so that you are able to maintain a manageable level of endurance.

Emu promotes a holistic approach to life which incorporates a healthy mind/healthy body philosophy while encouraging you to seize personal quiet time for replenishment whenever you are able.

Emu demonstrates how to integrate the positive and supportive aspects of both our ‘yin’ and ‘yang’ characteristics by drawing their wisdom into everything we do, thus enriching our view of the world and our place (and that of our children) within it.”

To Help and To Heal

We’re still adjusting to the facial situation here at home.  So, for today our message comes from down the hall.

(Tomorrow I’ll be back in the orthodontist’s chair, hopefully without as much pain as the past week has brought.  And maybe, I’ll even get to start eating “normally” again.)

"Receive Good Graciously"

Receive Good Graciously

“As you speak positive words and shine your light brightly, all your good thoughts come true before your eyes.  Today, we angels will work with you to help increase your receptivity to these manifestations.

You were raised to equate gifts with good behavior, so when they appear in your life, you wonder whether you deserve them.  However, if you hold guilt over past actions, you may feel unworthy of what comes to you and unwittingly push it away or ignore it.

Beloved one, these manifestations aren’t rewards any more than painful experiences are punishments.  The Divine doesn’t judge in categories of ‘good’ or ‘bad’ – rather, it responds to your energy – exactly as it does to everyone else’s.

When you allow yourself to receive, you make a powerful statement to the universe.  You display caring for yourself and everyone who’s inspired by you, sealing the process of manifestation.

Love comes full circle, from the seedling of a loving thought all the way to your gratitude when it appears on the physical plane.

Thought for the Month:

I open my arms to receive good graciously, knowing that I deserve it, just as all people do.  My gratitude for my gifts elevates everyone else, surrounding my manifestations with love.”

Today’s Gratitude:

is in thanks for the patient guy who married me 32 and a half years ago, for helping to find a variety of soft foods, and for eating things that I thought would be fine, but turned out, were absolutely not.

Adjustable Conversions, and End Of An Era.

Yesterday (seemingly out of the blue?) I happened to (re-)read the following line, credited to Heraclitus (pronounced as Her-uh-klay-tees), that ancient philosopher:

the only constant is change.

It’s not just valid and meaningful, this statement is also a Universal truth.  And it’s (as I texted to a friend this afternoon) the very basis of my most primary Life Lesson.  If you held a gun to my head and forced me to scribble out a mantra, it would be: RELEASE!  (And not even in an ironic way.)

Today (with or without my consent) that concept was put into motion.  Or rather, it was reinforced.  Because something arrived on my doorstep which will insist that I let-go and move-on.

mermaid water bottles

We have our miles to keep us close, no one can ever take that away.

Earlier last week I (somehow!) left my Mermaid Water in a grocery basket.  Realizing fairly quickly, Dan called the store.  They’d go look.  I was reassured.

When we got home, I called.  Just because.  Talked to the same guy.  He said he’ll go look.  I was reassured.

The next day, we went to get it.  Sadly, it was not to be located in the Customer Service booth.  But I hadn’t given up.  (I was angry and pissed off, but I had not lost all hope.)

Later that night, I had the deputy drive me back.  Speaking with management, trying to get him to understand the significance of this particular water bottle.  To no avail.  He looked and looked and looked.

That’s when I gave up.  She was gone.  I would never hold, nor pose, nor photograph her again.  Our last outing had been a good neighborhood wander.  And the day before that, we’d been to the Fair.  The miles we’d gathered were massive.  She’d gotten me through many challenges.  But now, it was time to say goodbye.  I was heartbroken.

blue replacement water bottles

Oh, are we taking pictures, Nana? Good, I’ll sit right here.

This is her replacement.  (Please ignore the dog wearing a hooded sweatshirt, he’s not new.)  I won’t be able to call this one Mermaid, because that name means something else.  And besides, Replacement is a completely different color.   (Perhaps she’ll just be known as Blue.)

When Kelly heard about my tragic loss, our beloved friend (and now Doctor) immediately jumped into action.  She even contacted the manufacturer directly.  Tragically, it was for naught.  Mermaid Water is no more.  No place, no longer, nowhere.

Thank you, all who loved her.  And especially you, Dr who cared enough to replace her for me.  New Water and I will strive to love each other.  Not unlike an arranged marriage, fondness is sure to grow.  It may take some getting used to, but I believe we can manage it.

When I awoke this afternoon, not actually on time, our message was there, waiting for me:

believe what feels right,

question that which does not.

It sounds so easy, and yet, it’s not always.  For some folks (me!), letting go isn’t easy, either.  I have faith though, in all of us.

When I reached out for the daily draw, standing in front of our card altar, the direction of my hand felt like it was being changed, to reflect further validation and support.

archangels, transition messages, oracle cards

“Career Transition  ~

Archangel Chamuel:

‘Your life purpose is triggering a blessed career change.

You’ve prayed for help with your career, and it’s now occurring.   Sometimes change is perceived as stressful, yet I’m helping to clear the old from your life to make way for the new.

Pay close attention to your repetitive ideas, dreams, and visions, as these are Divinely inspired roadmaps pointing the way along your desired path.  You may not see the entire road (or where it’s leading), but each step will be lit along the way.’

Working with Archangel Chamuel:

His ability to see clearly helps us find things, situations, and people.  He’s renowned for helping people find the career best suited to their purpose and passions.  Call upon Chamuel as your career counselor often!”

(Yes, we ARE ignoring the illustration.  Let’s not mention it, but DO pay attention to the words.)

Who could argue with that?  Who would question these statements?   Not me.  This message is pretty freaking clear.

Today’s Mileage:

was a quick run down to a bike shop* and to see my favorite independent bookseller, for just 4.894 miles, in 28 minutes and 03 seconds, in 10.4 MPH.

*Over the summer we seem to have lost one set of my reflective cuffs.  I can’t comfortably wear rainpants without them.  This was made glaringly evident on Thursday.  In the torrential downpours.

FLP Report:

includes an anomaly that I can’t actually explain, we saw 2 from Iowa and 2 from Florida, not repeats, different vehicles merely hours apart.  Then one from Maine.  And today, another Florida.

Standing, and not.

Tonight I’d like to begin with a quote from Dr Anita Johnston’s book Eating in the Light of the Moon.  (Because that’s what I was reading today, when I came in for a rest after some sweaty yard work.)

She’s talking about mentally getting to a place where we’re not judging or criticizing ourselves for honouring our emotions, even the ones that society calls negative.

Allow yourself the space to experience  your feelings fully so you can learn from them…..  This means following your intuition rather than blindly accepting others’ perceptions or automatically doing what others want you to do in order to please them.  It requires a certain vigilance so that you are constantly checking in with yourself and asking, ‘how does this feel?  Do I really want to do this?'”

Most days, I am fairly strong and sure.  But it seems that I have trouble asking those questions.  How do I feel?  Very often, the answer is not evident, I have to go searching for it.

When I woke up today, that wasn’t the first thing I was aware of, but I stood at the door, and asked the question anyway.  I want to be vigilant, and check in regularly

Our message arrived via the tail end of a dream, again.  I saw one of those suitcases with wheels on them, being pulled down a massive tiled hallway.  (No, this isn’t a song, or a poem, it’s simply the way these words showed up.)

roll along,

roll with the flow,

roll on through to the other side.

For me, it meant some maneuvering within the family, dynamic emotions, hashing crap out in person.  Re-arranging of events and activities.  The image of those wheels, coasting over smooth clean surfaces, was very helpful.  I hope all of you find comfort here, and this is beneficial as well.

But on our card altar, there’s some mixed feelings to discuss.  Within the regular rotation, we’ve come to the end of this stack.

animal cards, mountain goat messages

  “Mountain Goat  ~

Fighting for love or ardent declarations may hide unfaithfulness.

Deep in his body, mystical Goat fashions beozar, considered a remedy for disease.  As Goat holds these cures within, so you hold the remedies for your life’s ills.  Goat, intensely sexual, maintains a harem and fights fiercely for his consorts and counsels that even those who strive ardently for your love may not be true.

However, defend your present love passionately and thoughtfully, celebrate it with the gift of wild rose, the full Moon seen on a wild night, and it will remain yours forever.”

To begin with, I had no clue what the hell a beozar was, and finding it was not easy, nor fast.  It is spelled several different ways, once that was established, I could move on.

My complaint is not with the definition, exactly, but more with the line on the card’s face.  It’s repeated at the end of the first paragraph, but since those are the only negative notations, I am choosing to ignore the reference all together.  Again, moving on.

O'hana Organics

Happiness in a small round tin.
(Evoking memories to sustain the joy.)

Since I’ve been riding with no shoes, my feet are in slightly worse shape than usual (disregard the painful edema, that seems to be an unsolvable issue,  dammit), so I thought I’d try some of Tara and Matt’s extra-heavy-duty healing salve.

What I didn’t know, until reading her literature (that comes in the package, and is also on the website, I just now realized) is that their Shea Butter has naturally occurring sunscreen properties.  Now I’ll be saving up to buy THAT one!

Composure Keeping.

Our recent suggestion from the Dolphins and Mermaids about  Morning Affirmations might be messing with my channeled start-of-day messages.  This afternoon  I rolled out of the warm waterbed, and quickly began spewing many bad words in a row as I walked across the room trying not to trip over the dog.  I was SURE I’d forgotten some part of what I was “supposed” to be doing.

No worries though, I’ll get it worked out, it’s not that much to add in, I merely need to organize it properly.  Here’s what went on in my head, in case you were wondering.  (And Corina, Queen of Bi-Mart, please attempt to keep this on the metaphysical plane, if at ALL possible!)

“Daily goal, got it.  Affirmation, got it.  Oh shit, what was the message?  HEY!  What’s our message?  Don’t we get a message?!”  Then I heard, in  kind of a screamy voice:

To which I replied, “oh no.  Really.  That CAN’T be the message.  Give me another one.”  There was nothing after that.  Dead quiet.  A humming silence.  We’ll just have to figure that the meaning must be more like this,

: to be lively, exciting, and up-to-date

: to move freely, and with great excitement

rather than perhaps some OTHER definition of the word.  Probably.  (For some of us, anyway.)

Our card altar draw is calm and spare.  But not really any more precise.  Either way, doesn’t matter, I really like the look (and feel) of this illustration.

Self-Care cards, oracle card messages

“Patience  ~

Be patient.

Be willing to pass up good for great.”

Sometimes we might feel as though we’ve missed a chance or we did something wrong and made a mistake.  Then we have regrets.  Remember, there ARE no mistakes!  Only lessons.  So, it’s easy to let that good slip right on past.   The great will be exactly the one we needed in the first place.

Today’s Mileage:

ended up being nothing like what we had planned.  Still taking care of car business.  We had to have an estimate, and that made everyone late, including Ryon.  Also, the deputy is not feeling well, still.  We canceled gym-time, and just went to retrieve the OTHER car.  HERE is his one-way map.

As a round-trip, I rode 7.455 (but since we forgot to re-set after yesterday’s  emergency jaunt, those are all the numbers I can figure).  On the plus side, we may have one entire vehicular problem completely solved!  Yipee for simple fixes.

is all from about a ten block area, it began with an old New Mexico, then ended with a new New Mexico, including one Wisconsin and one Minnesota sandwiched snuggly in the middle.

Tonight’s Kitchen Adventures:

included combined efforts, we pooled our talents to create a delightfully (and hopefully healing) chicken soup for Dan (which of course means that I handed him random shit and he cooked it).  I’m having BBQed beans* cooked warmed up (by me!) on the stovetop.  (Because we HAVE a working stovetop!)

*A very old (and ridiculously easy “recipe” from my mother).  Traditionally they are baked for hours, but I just don’t have that kind of time.
