Waiting for the Better

I found out a little while ago that Kathy Griffin lost her sister to cancer today.  It was kind of my last straw on a very challenging afternoon.

Every year now, I expect that this week (and my birthday week) won’t take me down.  And every year, for the past decade, I’ve been hit hard.

This post is mostly a placeholder.  Just to let you all know, I’m here and I’m going to make it, it’s just so fucking hard.  Grief is stupid and I’m sick of it.

Take care of yourselves, and each other, do something that feeds your soul, even if that means feeding your body.

We can only keep showing up, and that’s enough for now.

Resting and Roaming

All of the images and visions I’ve received lately have to do with how we are best served by BEING in this current moment and understanding how no moment lasts forever.

While at the same time, the Universe is reminding us of how we are here for the Journey.  The TRIP is the point, not the “end” of our adventure.  Because in truth, what we perceive as the end, isn’t.

Feel free to hum and sing with this one:

As we travel along . . . . .

To simultaneously be still and acknowledge movement would seem impossible.  And yet, that’s kind of our goal.

We know we’re all excursion-ing on the path, but we also try really hard to appreciate our now.  Sound conflicting?  I agree.

             I’m told though, it’s completely do-able.

On our (still-not-finished) card altar, we have been gifted the perfect validation.  Because, of course we have.

journey messages

“Expecting Miracles

‘Miracles are blossoming in my life.’

Card Meaning:

Majestic wonders are unfolding for you, even as you read this.  Watch for them and embrace them.

The more you become aware of the small marvels in your life, the more they will grow in magnitude around you.

The Universe wants you to know:

What is expected tends to be realized.  Expect miracles in your life.

Celebrate and cherish them when they appear, no matter how small they may seem.

Let go of fear and expectations; allow the Creator to solve your challenges in mysterious ways.  Don’t limit the ways in which you think miracles can appear in your life.

Know that you can be the miracle in the life of another.

Questions to ask yourself:

How can I be even more open to miracles blossoming in my life?  What are the miracles that are occurring now or are coming in the future?  How am I a miracle for others?

Miracles are blossoming in my life.”

summer out-house

The heat of summer continues here, as we pass Lammas and Lughnasadh.  Brown more prevalent than green around us now.   I’m not editorializing, merely stating facts.  The Wheel of the Year turns.  And we ride along.

Precarious Equilibrium

The measurement of “success” has been on my mind lately.  Not surprising, as I have also been feeling it necessary to understand failure.  Challenging for me, since I don’t believe in mistakes.

It’s about my tendency to bristle against societies constant competition.  And what constitutes “winning” in our warped and broken culture.

I’ve struggled recently.  And what that usually means is I need to rest.  Here’s what I heard:

What’s the answer?  Why, Self-Care, obviously.  Except…. except it just isn’t always THAT obvious to us when we’re drenched in the stress, the anxiety, the conflict of weighing our ability to even leave the bed versus our family’s need for the money we bring in.

That’s the moment we have to open our tool box and rummage around for assistance.  We have to reach out to friends and loved ones.  We have to STOP the cycle, step off the ride, pull our quilt up over our head.

My wish for everyone who might ever come across this post (and all the others I’ve been fortunate enough to channel) is that they have as sturdy a safety net as I do.  My wish for all the planet is that we, each and every one of us, find relief, have care, discover lovingkindness, and share compassion.

As if in answer to an unvoiced plea, we see that on our card altar, this perfect validation appeared precisely when we needed it most.

“The Resting Tree  ~  22  ~  patience, stillness

The Resting Tree is a sign for you to stop focusing and planning and be at peace in the moment.  This is the representation of nonaction and relaxation.  Patience is the key to being with this Ally.

The Resting Tree asks you to slow down, sit back, and watch the roses bloom and the birds feed in the meadow.  This isn’t the time to forge ahead in any way.

You may not be taking enough breaks, so you are invited to be still and contemplate your good fortune, even if it means blessing the chaos in your life.

This is a sign to allow everything to fall away except the stillness of the moment; it’s like living within the space between breaths.

When The Resting Tree appears, it signals that you’ve done all you can for now and it’s time to unwind, allow your story to unfold of its own accord.  You have earned the right to rest and relax.  Amazing things will come if you do.

Remember the ancient saying: we do without doing and everything gets done.”

Acceptance Lessons, with Action

As previously discussed (repeatedly), we all know that I don’t have an excellent relationship with Time.  We have different ideas of success, Time and I.

We have different goals.  I’ve come to accept this.  Me and Time, not always on the same page.

What I’m learning, too (because EVERYTHING is a fucking lesson!), is that this challenge, this agree-to-disagree situation with Time, it’s fine.  For right now, we, Time and I, we can continue to not necessarily see eye-to-eye.  Nothing tragic will happen.

And this is where our message is taking us, through time, and in to:

Because truthfully?  Shit just takes as long as it takes.  If we miss one chance?  Another will roll around.

It’s never “too late” – nothing is a mistake.  Every experience and situation can teach us something.  Every relationship and interaction is beneficial.

In the end (spoiler alert, Universal Truth: there is no end), Time moves forward, as do we.

So, if it feels like we need to go faster/slower, do something sooner/something is taking too damn long, or however our humanity is manifesting timely dissatisfaction, all we have to remember is that, Time has a clock.  But we, we have a soul.

Once we accept (with patience and tolerance and a wee bit of grace) that timing is NOT everything, our own inner ticking will become quieter and the true songs of lovingkindness and joy will become easier to hear.

At first glance, this draw I was directed to, might not seem like the most perfect validation.  The opposite perhaps.  But as we read closely, it will become obvious that it certainly is ideal.  Even timely!

“Taking Action  ~

‘I enthusiastically embrace life’s boundless possibilities.’

Card meaning:

Don’t hesitate!  Whatever you’ve been putting off, now is the time to act.

Stand tall, raise your fists to the sky, and leap into action.  Break out the champagne, for victory is in reach.

The Universe wants you to know:

Action creates momentum.  Whatever you have been wishing and waiting for, this is the right time to move forward without looking back.

Quicken your spirit by taking action now.  Even if you have to face your fears in order to do so, look them in the eye with a calm and clear gaze and forge ahead.

The action you take now will reap immense rewards in the future.

Questions to ask yourself:

In what area of my life should I take action now?  What blocks me from action, and how can I overcome this?  What is the most direct action that will yield the greatest result?

I enthusiastically embrace life’s boundless possibilities.”

So simple, and so classic.

Every one of these is better than the last!  This calendar, it definitely makes me happy.  And that really needs to be a priority, for all of us.

Beyond and Back

We have a sacred holy day coming up.  Well, more than one, depending on your belief system.  These are days (and nights) which mark a turning of the year, and a leaving behind.

Setting aside the commercial aspect for now, it’s the death part we will be focusing on.  This is a special and important moment of our life, a cycle to be recognized and paid tribute to.

It’s a season of remembering, honouring, and acknowledging.  It’s a time for us to

Reach Across.

We can more easily stretch out and make contact with those who have gone Home before us right now.  It’s the season of back-and-forth.  It’s an occasion to focus on our individual histories, and that of those who brought us to where we are now.

That honouring of this stop on the Wheel of Time, life to death to new life, is basic and necessary for our day-to-day progress.  For us to Reach Across and thank those who came before us is to know where we are going from here.

You might have an altar set up, or you may simply speak with them silently in your heard.  However you choose to mark the passing of those we can no longer physically reach out to, the Universe is reminding us that they are never gone, nor lost.  We just contact them in a different way.

If you celebrate, I wish you a Peaceful Samhain, a Happy Halloween, and a Blessed Dia de los Muertos.  And if you just enjoy the candy, well then, I hope you get the good kind (whatever that means to you).

I was directed to draw from our Special Occasion cards.  For obvious reasons.

“Dragonfly  ~  6  ~  Illusion

Like the Butterfly, Dragonfly embodies the regenerative powers of rebirth.

After mating, Dragonflies depots their eggs in water, where they hatch and develop into ferocious aquatic larvae before transmuting into adult Dragonflies.  The Dragonfly emerges from a fully aquatic lifestyle to a creature capable of full aerial flight, no longer restricted to the confines of the pond or river into which it initially hatched.

Dragonfly experiences a symbolic death at the midpoint of its life.  After a period of obligatory dormancy the Dragonfly re-emerges as an apparently completely new creature, with deceptively iridescent wings which seem to glisten with the changing light – a transformation Dragonfly is yearning to see you make today.

As children we may be taught values and beliefs that are based on cultural or family tradition and morals which may be simply regarded as outdated in today’s society.  These illusions seem so real, though, that we accept them as our reality.

As we mature, these ways can contradict our self-discovered principles and we learn to adapt them accordingly.  However, depending on how deeply these beliefs are ingrained, sometimes we cannot shake them in order to make way for our own.  When this happens we find ourselves in turmoil because we feel as though we are dishonouring our culture or family by trying to follow our own truth.

If Dragonfly has darted into your cards today, you are being urged to break through self-endorsed limitations which might be hindering your development and growth.  Look at yourself and acknowledge the illusions you may have woven around yourself as a form of protection.

Ask yourself if these illusions were put in place to prevent you from seeing a truth or to prevent others from seeing the real you.  Have you started believing in your own deception, in a falsity created originally to protect your sense of security or self-esteem?

Your view of the world may be restricted by your tainted perception of what is real and what is not and as a result, the view the rest of the world has of you may also be unfairly tainted.”

I want to add here also, this one can be interpreted as a great reminder of how this very world we are living in, the body we are wearing, the school of life we are attending, is an illusion as well.  So, great validation, once more.
