Marathoning,

At my “day” job, there is a co-worker (one of my bosses, actually), who is fond of telling me to “trust the process” when I’m in the middle of a petulant tantrum of injustice.

This phrase has been on my mind lately, not only because he’s correct in his advice, but because when we recall how we all set our own plans in motion, devised our own blueprints, gathered with our Team and came up with this particular life’s path, the “process” is exactly what we are immersed in, daily.

When I’m feeling at my lowest (recent global news has not been helping), I try to rest my mind and recall that I made these choices.  I intentionally placed my soul in this body, right here…… the only question then becomes, why?

And that, is our message.  We need only wait, trusting our earlier selves, our spirit-selves, to know what and when would be the most perfect way for us to learn and grow.

It’s about Time.

As we’ve always been told, patience is a virtue.  Well, I’ve bristled at and struggled with this forEVER.  Turns out, the virtuous part is not necessarily valid, but the patience aspect, that certainly is.

To worry and fret and whine and bitch gets us nowhere but unhappy.  Waiting, however, and viewing our blessings, acknowledging our gifts, this helps to ease the passage of time, just long enough for us to look back, glancing over our shoulders to the recent past, and seeing the “why” as well as the “when” as we notice patterns and reasons.

To trust that we’ve originally laid things out for our highest and best possible good is a waiting game.  It can be trying and annoying as fuck, but it’s a Universal Truth.  Time, truly, will tell.

It will tell us that we have chosen well.  It will tell us the process is a good one.  It can also tell us that if those selections aren’t going in a direction we now like, we can change them.

And in perfect validation, here is our draw.

it's about time

“Making a Choice  ~  30

You are required to come to a decision now.

You’re faced with a dilemma or a fork in the road and must make a conscious choice regarding the next right action.

Whatever that choice is, you must take responsibility for it – yet you needn’t be afraid.  You may not have all the answers right now, because the way ahead can’t be known until you have embarked and traveled a few steps.

Trust your intuition.  Ask for a sign from the spirit world and you will be led to the right path.

If you remain conscious and aware, your selection will be the right one at this time.  Life is always about learning.

Success lies in choosing consciously, guided by your Inner Voice and heeding the messages that the Universe sends you.”

is this view from my tiny hallway.

harbour outhouse

Autumnal Equinox has come and gone, the Full Moon is just ending, evenings are chilly, the sun has moved, it’s most definitely a new season.  I am embarrassing the changes, and hoping that you are, too.

It’s a process, but I’m trusting in it.

Affiliated Harmonically

Energetically speaking, there’s a shit-ton going on right now.  (And yes, that’s a professional if not technical term.)  Pluto, Mercury, the moon, and (depending on where you live) tomorrow’s Equinox.

All of that, to those of us Highly Sensitive types (plus whatever “regular” living chaos we’re in), can add up to some stressy-ness and edgy emotions.

And that calls for Self-Care of the most major kind.  (As well as MORE releasing.)  Perfect message then, for what arrived today.

Yours – Mine

As I read through the Four Agreements (it’s slow going, I really want to absorb it all), I see the benefits of stepping away from our suffering even more clearly.

Your situations are your situations, my situations are my situations.  The same goes for how we feel and how we react.  I can’t be responsible for your reaction, just as you can’t be responsible for mine.

Can we approach life with Truth and lovingkindness so as to mitigate as much harm as possible?  Absolutely!  In fact, it’s recommended.

We just can’t get hung up on who else feels what about everything.  WE are the focus of our own journey.  Sure, it’s nice to have fellow adventures along for the ride.  Our main responsibility though, is our own sacred selves.

On our card altar right now we’re going out into the future (while staying firmly planted in the now), manifesting that next chapter.  My chapter.  And your chapter.

Two of Wands

Remember how Staves, Wands, Clubs are all about energy?  Like what we started this conversation with.  Energy.  The power of life which rolls within and around us all.

That which makes us all connected.  The very essence of who and what we are.  The spark of creation and wave of power.

And here, in its truest form of duality, balance, and those first steps into “making” something out of nothing.  In this illustration, our character gazes out upon the possibilities of All.

We are most magickal when we are in sync with the Universe and all of Nature.  Here is the validation of our efforts.  We can see, as this individual does, that there is a future.  We have learned from our past, as we embrace our present.

This present moment, this is the gift of intentional living.  Your gift.  My gift.

Preservation and Safety.

Astrologically speaking, we have several events coming and going (check my regularly updated, helpful reminder boxes <—– over there).  However, since that’s not really my strongest area of expertise, I encourage everyone to check out Sarah’s place.  If you haven’t already made this one of your daily stops, please do.  Her take on what is going on around us is extremely helpful.

Also, it’s not just me this time, I know it.  Others must be noticing it too.  In the past few days the weather has just BOOM! gone from summer to fall.  Which makes sense, the Equinox is only a few days away.  But still, I could absolutely feel it in the air, and I had to turn my lights on for the ride home from class this evening.

When I got out of bed earlier, stretching and waking up before my window, there were definitely more orange leaves in my view than even yesterday.  I wasn’t discouraged though, because our message wouldn’t let me be.

Find the important/beautiful spots in your day,

and treasure them.

Which is precisely what I did, from that exact point on.  (Not that my day was bad, though.)  As I later stood in front of our card altar I was directed to jump back into the regular rotation.

This one may not be my favorite illustration, but what he’s telling us is continuing the previous theme.  Obviously that makes the importance level high.

oracle cards, the metal king

“The Metal King  ~  37  ~

discipline, armor, boundaries

Ally:  The Metal King is strong and arrives to lend you his impenetrable shield of protection.  No matter who sends you criticism or jealously, you will not be hurt.

This Ally also prompts  you to think about setting healthy boundaries.  When you do – no matter how uncomfortable that task may be – everyone will benefit   He asks you to make sure you know where you end and another begins.  Others’ emotions are not yours, no matter how empathic you may be.

Another of the Metal King’s messages is to remind you how important it is to have a healthy sense of self-esteem.  It’s a good time to shine and be proud of what you have accomplished.”

It’s been a while since the Contrary angle was suggested, but that’s the case today.  Here’s the other side of this one.

“Challenger:  Be mindful of codependency and enmeshment when the Metal King comes as your Challenger.  He’s inviting you to address how overwhelmed you may be around other people.  Do you pick up their feelings like a sponge?  Do you feel you need to heal them so that you feel better?

Get grounded.  Be clear about your own personal boundaries, and restrain yourself when you feel like jumping in to help without being asked.  This is also a warning against forming unhealthy relationships in any area of your life.”

Good info, from both directions.  I especially like that he has brought his armour to keep us safe, from whoever or whatever happens along.

Horsetail falls

With Dan taking his own pic, for perspective.

There are three (I think) official falls along that road, and a couple of spillovers.  It’s a gorgeous drive, any time of year.  We plan on going back that way again, when we aren’t in such a rush.  (And possibly hiking some of them.)

Dear Cher, Corrections, and More Swords.

My brilliant Hurricane wrote a super funny post yesterday, an open letter.  I’m going to do the same, but for a completely different reason.  This morning at 7:33 I was asleep (duh), but my phone beeped.  I ignored it until I got up, several hours later.  I looked at it and there was some sort of twitter thing, but we were kind of behind and this is Daniel’s Monday so I didn’t have a chance to really spend too much time figuring it out.  When I DID go back and read the message, I had to read it about five times, then quickly get to my tweety page to make sure that’s what I was actually seeing.  Why yes, it was.

A DIRECT MESSAGE FROM CHER!!!

I tried to Direct Message back, but she doesn’t follow me.   *sigh*    Instead I’ve decided to reply here, in an open letter to the Idol Of My Youth: Cher!

Dear Cher, thank you so much for the tweety message this morning.  I am honored that you took the time.  You are most welcome, and I will be glad to “Cher” your pictures and links forever more.  You are an inspiration and a role model, you show your real side, as well as Cher-ing your art with us all.  Please give your family my best, and I hope the new movie does well, but mostly I hope you enjoy yourself and have a good time with it.  Most Devotedly Yours, Julie in Eugene.

Okay, now here’s the Dyslexic Witch Alert – I made a few mistakes yesterday, so I need to correct them.  First of all I said that the Autumnal Equinox might show up as yesterday, wrong, it might show up as tomorrow.  Fine, First Day of Fall is today, my time.  Also, I asked if Kristin’s husband’s birthday had already happened, no.  It is tomorrow, the 23rd.  Tomorrow is also my beautiful sister-in-law’s wedding anniversary.  She married Bruce (not Kristin’s husband, who is also named Bruce, but OUR Bruce).  I found Bruce for her.  We were at a softball game and I heard him before I ever saw him.  But, ya know, I was there because her brother and I were living together, so I already had mine.  I tracked that voice down, and the rest is history.  I love you both, and your gorgeous daughter too.

In about five hours or so it will be the Full Harvest Moon (2:17 a.m. to be exact).  Hope you all got to see this tonight, or tomorrow, because traditionally they are amazing.

My report on yesterday’s Cinnabon cupcakes:  I licked the frosting off, but I ate most of the cake.  Frosting gets a big yes vote.   That was the Tester Toast.  New toaster: a keeper.  Also, the new suit worked well in the pool today.  Not thrilled with how the back is kinda bunchy (that would be MY back,  not the suit’s back) but we can’t help that right now, what with all the cupcakes that need to get eaten and toast that needs to be toasted.

Please use me as a cautionary tale.  That is a picture of what used to be an entire adult sized molar.  It dissolved, inside my head.  And then gave up its fight for life by falling down into the bridge it was originally attached to.  I have a condition where my teeth just disappear.  Marty told me about it yesterday.  I had no idea this could happen, but we have been battling to save my teeth since we first met 36 years ago.  He was a brand new dentist and his brother was my 7th grade English teacher.  I needed a dentist and he needed patients, so we joined forces.  It has been an entertaining and yet dismal relationship ever since.  Find a good dentist, and see him/her a lot.  (And try not to yell at yours as much as I yell at mine, you have to know them really well before they let you get away with that type of misbehaviour.)

Our card draw today is from the Robin Wood Tarot, the deck I use when you schedule an appointment with me to read your cards.  (I can also tell you how to schedule your dentistry during the right moon phases too.)

Knight of Swords ~  As we discussed the other day, swords are all about communication.  Things of the air.  Feathers, quills, pens, documents, words.  The Element of Air, wind, voice, and breath.  Knights are problem solvers, they ride in and triumph over the opposition.  They are righteous and true.  They soldier along until they have taken care of the problem.  They judge not, for their task is to stand up for all that is good and fair.

We have a Knight by our side today, wielding his sword of honesty in voice.  Righting the wrongs that may be spoken around us, or even BY us.  Allow this Prince of Justice to be cut the path freely, so that we may write and talk and breathe with ease and with truth.
