Selection Making

When I first became aware of the concept (later movement, and hashtag) of Choose Joy, I jumped directly on it, no delay, no hesitation.  I mean, CHOICE and JOY?  Who wouldn’t want to go there?

We’d recently discovered, and discussed in great detail, the LovingKindness theory.  So, of course, I was all in.

It’s been a few years, and I’m still enamored with them both.  Following along with several accounts on-line, and doing my own research/practicing daily, I’m finding them to be nothing but beneficial.

I’ll never abandon my Pro Choice belief, just as I’ll never stop believing that we are all equal.  But to focus on the positive, at the cost of letting go of no-longer-useful negativity, can only be seen (and felt) as progress.

This comes up right now, in an atmosphere of continuing media trash and unconscionable adult behaviour.  I never want to go back to complaining instead of thanking.  It just doesn’t serve anyone’s purposes to lay blame, incite hatred, stir up misery.

Here is what I’ve been hearing, and here is where my view has been directed.

I don’t know where the image came from, but it resonated with me the second I read it.  Our message of Choose Joy is about that gratitude attitude and recognizing (with intention) what we DO have rather than what we DON’T.

Our lessons are not punishment, they are ways to do better, be better, and help more.  Improvement, that’s our goal.  Globally, personally, and within our community.  We begin with our very own soul, rippling out from there.

It truly is a game-changer when we realize how much of our “suffering” is actually perception.

Here’s one more, like last time, a meditation point, a vista to gaze upon and enjoy.  No one is asking anything of you, other than to be here, and to be you.

There are many steps along our road to joyful living, some challenging, some entertaining.  Some are places we can pull over to gather knowledge and focus on lessons.

If we are currently involved in a new research project, hobby, or field of study, this is our validation.  If not, then it’s a suggestion.

Learn More

We are here to learn and to grow.  To heal and to help.  What better way to do all of that than to step up our lessons and reach out for new information?

Doesn’t matter what the topic, as long as we’re passionate about it.  Following our heart is the key.  What calls to us?  What makes us happy, or what changes can we make about things that are currently done all wrong?

Often we feel too minor, too insignificant to make a difference.  Which, in reality, is the exact opposite.  We ARE the change, we ARE the most important.  Our ONE step can be the tipping point.

What we need to keep in mind is, the journey can be long, so we absolutely DO have time.  We can study and learn and make our many moments here so much more meaningful.

On our card altar right now, we have the perfect helpers to get us going, and to keep us on our path.

the hungry ghosts

“The Hungry Ghosts  ~  14  ~

obsession, scarcity consciousness, attachment

When the Hungry Ghosts appear before you, they may not at first seem like Allies because they represent your constant focus on the past and the consuming desire to know the future, which rob you of your true present.

But, in fact, they are here in service of alerting you to obsessive thinking and addictions; they are masters at magnifying repetitive behaviors.

The message is for you to examine whether you’re doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.  ‘This time will be different’ and ‘I have control of this,’ are false statements and a sign of deep denial of the truth.

Now is the time to let go of that thinking.  Surrender your will, your life, your heart’s desires, and all that pains you to the Divine.  Order will be restored in your world.

The Hungry Ghosts also bring understanding about the distractions of life that seduce you into forgetting what you really desire.  They’re asking you to become aware that what others want and what the culture dictates will make you happy may not be what’s best for you.

Don’t get caught up in outside appearances.  All that glitters may not be gold – at least not for you.  Look beyond the veneer and you will find the true substance in your life.

You deserve nothing less.”

It’s like they’re saying,
“Welcome Home!”

I love being out just before the sun goes down, when everyone is inside just turning on their lights, but not quite closing their shades.
