Kindred

Yesterday I spent a significant amount of my day with an 8-year-old. She is not related to me by genetics, but her parents and siblings have become like family.

Again the Universe is telling us it’s time to revisit the conversation around that concept of: it takes a village.  And how without support, well.  Everything is just that much more challenging.

             Here’s what I’m hearing ……

tribe

Who makes up our closest, our near-and-dear, our most loved individuals?  Whoever they are, they’re never all related to us by blood, by DNA.

Often, our core group is a gathering of like-minded souls, with some genuine relatives mixed in.  It matters not one bit what this ratio of the blend is, nor really, what the numbers even are.

The important and valuable part?  That we take care of our clan, that we hold them close and back them up.  That we love them, unconditionally, and we are there to support them.

Because we know, they’ll be there for us.  One of the best ways to make sure we’re recharged and can help family when called upon is to take care of ourselves.

On what is taking the place of my card altar right now (see phone pic below), we are being validated in that very sentiment.  We MUST practice Self Care, and then, we can be of use to those we love.

oracle and tarot and angel cards

Most of the cards, but (almost) none of the treasures.

For the first time in the five weeks since we’ve been handed the keys to this place, I got to be in the house, and get shit done.  It’s been nice.  And soon, I’m sure, it will (finally) feel like home.

(Camera battery recharging cord, still lost.  The replacement device my Beloved ordered for me seems to not be working.)

.

Advance and Process

I’m sitting at a make-shift desk, in the house where we now live.  My Empress occupies our formal adobe. It’s been slow, and difficult.  But ….. I’m sitting at a make-shift desk.  In the house.  Where we now live.

Let’s call that progress, shall we?  Because, what I’ve been hearing about, and what I’m learning so clearly right now, is that we must be thankful, we must notice the gifts.  We absolutely must

stay flexible.

Nothing around here is done.  Nothing at the other house is done, either.  Two families are half-in, half-out of old and new situations.  But for this moment in time, none of us is homeLESS.  We are dry in the rain and warm in the cold.  (Hopefully, we’ll also be cool in the heat, too.)

Things change.  That’s the way our journey goes.  It’s the very WAY this life is.  When we get too caught up in staying the same, we lose out on what might come along for us.

It’s been challenging, this move, this tiny bit of progress.  But it’s also been kinda fun.  And that’s what we all could focus more on.  The fun.  The joy.  The little steps of advancement.

Behind me, sitting atop (what is now taking the place of) our altar, is a great validation.  We have to take the time to see the nice vantage points.   Stop along the route and enjoy pleasant surroundings.

The travel is part of this adventure!  We are constantly in motion, let’s notice and appreciate where it takes us.

Six of Swords

This is one of the VisionQuest cards.  The journey, the lesson, the movement is what we focus on here.

But also, take note of where this individual is headed.  See the tiny star in that hillside?

The goal is to find our shining future, and aim for it; enjoy the scenery, and get to our destination when we get there.  It’ll be well worth the time spent.  Because truthfully, we have plenty of time to spend.

Choose Joy

…coeur, corazon, coracao

Briefly, today.  Because: oh, the reasons.

There’s so much, right now, right here, which we cannot control (or really, even fucking understand).  It’s more important than ever to lead with our hearts.

We need to keep joy and laughter close, looking constantly for that silver lining.  We just . . . .  have to.

Here’s where I was guided.  It basically says everything I’ve been hearing and feeling.

There is a message in this one for everybody.

chakras

“Heart Chakra  ~

‘Love is the heart of the matter.  Your heart is the center within your physical being attuned most to love.

It’s safe for you to love and be loved with an open heart, as we stand by with perfect protection and guidance.’

The angels give you this card because the answer to your current situation and questions rest with your heart.

The more that you open your heart, the more love, joy, and peace you will feel.  You can open your heart chakra by asking the angels to send their healing energy, by visualizing your heart surrounded by pink light, by inhaling the fragrance of pink roses, by holding or wearing rose quartz, and by focusing on love.

Additional messages:

send light and love to your heart chakra

take very good care of your cardiovascular heath

a departed loved one who passed on from a heart-related condition is saying ‘hello, I love you’

have a heart-to-heart discussion

keep heart-shaped tokens and symbols close to remind you of Universal love.”

Presently

When I was very young, my mom or my grandmother would take me in with them when they shopped at the Five and Dime (what would now be equivalent to probably a dollar store, only way bigger and better).   I would wander away, in my own tiny world.  Often I could talk one or the other of them in to purchasing a small skein of yarn.

It was always the same: Fiesta!  This was long before overdyeds or variegated options were readily available.  “My” yarn was special.  It was all the colors of the rainbow, in one handy hank.

I’ve recently returned to the land of yarns and knitting.  These memories from so very long ago though, they are fresh in my mind.  Just as how my hands seem to recall what to do with the needles and wool (or cotton, or alpaca, or or or ….. there are so many more choices now), so too, do I recall all the many people in my life who have added to, blended with, and shared so generously.

Waking up today, I heard very distinctly that we can’t forget, even if we don’t have all of our family members physically with us this holiday season, that doesn’t mean they aren’t near by.

Our message is about bringing our minds to the present, but recalling our past.  It’s about looking forward to GOOD things in the future, but as has been stated before, not dwelling on what is seemingly gone from us.

Focus now, with love in our hearts, on

this very moment.

We have all of our past within us; we have all of our “yet to be” times ahead of us.  Combine it, that’s what the Universe has to say.

Bring it all together in our Now.  Those treasured memories, those loved ones who have gone Home before us, hold close this warmth in our hearts.  See the tomorrow possibilities.  At the same time, be here.  Be present.  Be whole.

On our card altar, in validation, is an extension of this same message.  She visits us as a reminder, a very timely and soulful reminder.

st mother teresa

“Activist  ~  St Mother Teresa

You are being guided to champion a cause, such as a social issue, a charitable group, or a person in distress.

Like St Mother Teresa, you can single-handedly make a positive difference in the world.  She’ll act as your guide in this matter, if you will only ask for her help.

Notice which issues arouse your passion or anger, and make a commitment to serve in some capacity to heal those situations.  Your soul wants to express itself and to make your opinions known.

Use your expertise and life experience (such as business skills, writing abilities, or speaking talent) to help along your chosen cause.  Donate time or money to related charities and agencies.  You’ll feel energized by your activism.”

knitting

One done project, and one still on the needles. Kinda bright for me, but it’s what we had.

Look for the blessings.  They’re there, I promise.  And if you’re still needing more, make some.

.

Gratitude Attitude

Around this time of year, there’s usually plenty of Being Thankful posts to be found.  This has definitely been on my mind, what with the holiday and all.

But even more than that (because you all know how much I dislike being forced into a jovial or festive state), I have begun to gradually and oh-so-cautiously remove a few of my self-imposed restrictions.  I am peeking my head out, but only in safe directions.

For me, right now, it’s become even more than merely the state of acknowledgment.  Our message echoes this, it has an intended focus of deep and sincere . . .

Appreciation

To be well-balanced, it is said that we must be an even mix of all the Tarot suits, all the elements, as well as equal portions give/take.  We must be able to receive, to accept, and to be able to understand the difference.

Of course, in real life, none of us are perfect, or exactly well-balanced.  We struggle and we work through our challenges.  We work towards the understanding of gifting and welcoming.

The trick is to notice and appreciate each level, each accomplishment, each individual we connect with.  THOSE are the true measures of success.

Because, by feeling and honouring our simple gestures and tiny steps, we become more capable of even larger blessings, lessons, and gratitude.

On our card altar, in validation of the same idea, this draw brings us a perfect affirmation.

apprciation

“Joy  ~  24

Even just a simple smile can go a long way to spreading joy in our world. Choose to focus more on those things which bring you happiness and you will find you naturally begin to radiate this energy out into all of creation.

The more joy you send out, the more you’ll find you have to be joyful for – this is a law of the universe.

Affirmation:

By living with joy, I magically spread light into the hearts of my sisters and brothers everywhere.”
