With a bow on top.

We’ve all had the conversation about our Attitude of Gratitude.  Or, lack thereof.  Prepare yourselves, it’s popped up again this week.

During the winter holidays, and even around someone’s birthday, we hear so much in regards to the “spirit” of giving/the thought that counts, and where those concepts come from.  Discussion is endless, sadly, action is not always the commodity we have enough of.

(It’s just sometimes so easy to fall back into the complaining mode!)

Setting our minds in this direction, the Universe would like us, please, to focus on:

Our very existence is a gift.  Our relationships…. gifts.  Being fortunate enough to own a home, or a car, or a bike.  All gifts.  Having clothes, food, phones, a job: gifts gifts gifts.

When we look with eyes of appreciation, instead of lack (or misguided need), we can truly see how extremely lucky we are.

It’s hot here, I’m miserable (and cranky and über uncomfortable all the time).  The weather is going to get even hotter in the next week.  I am searching for the blessings.  I am also still searching for the shit that got lost in our move.

Right now, the good absolutely outweighs the bad, and I feel so VERY grateful for that.  It’s just, as you well know, challenging!

I was directed to a certain deck for this post.  But, I can’t find it.  Instead, I’ve been poking around in my archived images.  This is what we are supposed to see right now.

Not my photograph, but it captures the feeling which is being channeled through me, to you.  Gratitude.  Gifts.  Love.  See it, see the blessings.   See what we have, not what we’re missing.

             Then, say thank you.

is to tell everyone that in the past week, guests as well as other staff at my hotel, have been gifting me in such a generous and abundant way; I simply have to cry, because I don’t know how else to react.

I’ve received, an artistically crafted nautilus fossil necklace, a hand-crocheted afghan, a special container of my favorite foreign tea, an Oregon cherry truffle, a beautiful bakery cupcake, and a solid handshake (from a [previously very grumpy] man who told me that it was HIS pleasure to meet me and spend time with me).

I was expecting none of this, it just seems to keep happening.  For all of it, I am humbly grateful.

Merci, Gracias

This afternoon went delightfully well, what with grandbaby holding, a nice meal out, and some sewing room projects.  The entirety of which brought our message through, loud and clear.

Because, as beautiful as those hours where, they were brief.  My time with loved ones, crafts I enjoy, self-care moments, they all fly by due to an unbalanced amount of on-the-clock time (and overtime).  There is an uncomfortably rushed undertone to all that I’ve been doing lately.

The Universe would like us to address this, and look at

We are being asked to take a sec, just that quick few minutes, and really wrap our gratitude around us like a cozy old quilt.  FEEL how warm and comforting it is.  Hold on to it, enjoy it, be there with it.  Be in those precious experiences while they’re happening.  Fully.

Additionally, if there’s anything in our lives right now, anything we can acknowledge and appreciate involving others . . . tell them!  We must honestly reach out and say Thank You.

Whatever it is we are grateful for, we absolutely HAVE to tell/show/offer our appreciation.  Say it outloud, say in a text, say it in card we mail with a damn stamp.  Just so long as we say it.  Just so long as we appreciate these gifts.

As the perfect validating reminder, here’s what appeared on our card altar.

“Life  ~

Since we all have chosen our charts, life is an individual learning experience, like classes we take in school.”

I do my best to pass my charted courses so that my soul may reflect Divine magnificence, as I live my life in Joy and with Love.

is to say that, true, I do not believe in the commercialized version of Valentine’s Day.  I do, however, believe wholeheartedly in the value of letting our loved ones know how we feel.

Sending love, far and wide, from me to you.  I appreciate each and every one of you, any and all who may be reading this post.

Thank you, for being here, and for being you.

Appreciation Factor

I am only able to check in here briefly.  Our part of the world (and perhaps yours, too) is currently encased in ice. We lost power at the beginning of this weather pattern, earlier in the week, but it has now been restored.

I am beyond thankful for that small fact.  (As well as, the tree which fell on our house, was our own tree, and it didn’t poke any holes in the roof.  This time, unlike the last incident.)  Our message is clearly about gratitude.

Take a moment, look around.  Recognize your gifts and blessing.  Help where you can, others may not be so lucky.

I was directed to this validation on our card altar.  We are being reminded of all that we have, and all that we CAN have.

gratitude, dreams

Travel across earth and over sea to securely embrace your dream.

Octopus does not wait for fate to deliver her dinner of Crab, employing whatever strategy is necessary for his capture, even abandoning water for earth’s air.

She counsels that you, too, follow your dream.  If your partner has left for a faraway land, join them; if a new exciting possibility calls from distant climes, embrace it as firmly as Octopus does Crab.

If others obstruct you, like Octopus eclipse your actions in an inky cloud until your dream is securely within your grasp.”

Gratitude Attitude

Around this time of year, there’s usually plenty of Being Thankful posts to be found.  This has definitely been on my mind, what with the holiday and all.

But even more than that (because you all know how much I dislike being forced into a jovial or festive state), I have begun to gradually and oh-so-cautiously remove a few of my self-imposed restrictions.  I am peeking my head out, but only in safe directions.

For me, right now, it’s become even more than merely the state of acknowledgment.  Our message echoes this, it has an intended focus of deep and sincere . . .

To be well-balanced, it is said that we must be an even mix of all the Tarot suits, all the elements, as well as equal portions give/take.  We must be able to receive, to accept, and to be able to understand the difference.

Of course, in real life, none of us are perfect, or exactly well-balanced.  We struggle and we work through our challenges.  We work towards the understanding of gifting and welcoming.

The trick is to notice and appreciate each level, each accomplishment, each individual we connect with.  THOSE are the true measures of success.

Because, by feeling and honouring our simple gestures and tiny steps, we become more capable of even larger blessings, lessons, and gratitude.

On our card altar, in validation of the same idea, this draw brings us a perfect affirmation.

“Joy  ~  24

Even just a simple smile can go a long way to spreading joy in our world. Choose to focus more on those things which bring you happiness and you will find you naturally begin to radiate this energy out into all of creation.

The more joy you send out, the more you’ll find you have to be joyful for – this is a law of the universe.

By living with joy, I magically spread light into the hearts of my sisters and brothers everywhere.”

Actively Appreciating

As we learn about our Acceptance by acknowledging our blessings (and even, our mere existence), it’s being suggested right now that we also add in some gratitude.

The process of being thankful, participating in our lives with a conscious effort, is what I heard about this morning.  (With accompanying views which were both precise and yet symbolic.)

Take nothing for granted.

Some people aren’t completely clear on driving “privileges” in this country.  It’s a similar situation in how we live our life.

To get a driver’s license, we must pass tests and agree to participate within the rules.  Being a safe and legal driver is the end result.

Or, we can operate a motor vehicle without the required regulations and be subject to fines or incarceration.

In this adventure we call Life, we can participate lovingly, with care and concern, being responsible for our actions (and our re-actions), within certain perimeters of goodness and on-going study.

Or, we can be a selfish dick-head.  In which case, we then must face the repercussions that will (absolutely will) come around to set us straight when we leave this place and move on.

It’s all about our current state.  Are we being mindful and grateful?  Or are we driving along, “unlicensed,” complain-y, and disconnected?  We have that choice, we are allowed that privilege.

Standing at our card altar earlier, I was directed to flip this particular selection.  Because it seems as though, we need an inner kindness reminder, as well.

“Goddess of Compassion  ~

‘Self-criticism is diminishing your sense of self-worth.’

The Goddess of Compassion has shown up in your reading today to ask you to be more compassionate towards yourself.

At the core of every living thing only love exists.  Your personality and the role you play in this life is only transitory and ultimately, an illusion.

All that you perceive to be good or bad are necessary aspects of who you are; positive and negative qualities exist in everyone and in everything.  A more accurate description of positive and negative is Yin and Yang, for in reality there is neither positive nor negative, only opposite qualities which together make us whole.

Self-criticism is diminishing your sense of self-worth and keeping you in the illusion that you need to improve in order to be worthy of success, happiness, and fulfillment.  Have compassion; love and accept all of who you are, as you are, and stop striving for something that is impossible to attain.

Through love your life magically transforms.”

Let’s repeat one small part of that definition one more time, consciously, and with gratitude:

At the core of every living thing only love exists.
