Staying on Track, and still saying

The changes in my life recently have not been how I expected this chapter to unfold.  Because Life goes where it needs to go.  Taking us to the places we need to be.

Never is it how we thought it would happen.  A turn here, a twist there, a detour we had NO fucking clue was up ahead.  We travel, we experience.  We follow the path, or we veer away from it.

Right now all I keep hearing is how Acceptance and Appreciation must be in our line of sight at all times, it must be where we’re aiming.  We absolutely can’t make the progress which will help us the most if we don’t embrace those factors.

            The Universe says it’s about:

Recognition

To acknowledge our blessings, our lessons, our challenges, that’s where we live in the moment.  That’s where we are ALIVE in a genuine and soulful way.

To recognize our opportunities as well as those options we can just let pass us by, that’s vital.  Never worry that we’ll miss out.  We definitely won’t.  We’re always in the right place at the right time.

In fact, on our card altar, this Special Occasion visitor reminds us why.

endurance

“Emu  ~  12  ~  Endurance

First in the Category of Fire

A solar influenced creature, Emu speaks of the responsibility afforded to fathers who find themselves raising their children singlehandedly.  Emu Dreaming lends itself to the teaching of effective parenting skills and the endurance that is required to execute the role, especially under difficult conditions.

. . . . . look at how you are holding up physically and emotionally to the stresses of life.  Perhaps you need to pace yourself better so that you are able to maintain a manageable level of endurance.

Emu promotes a holistic approach to life which incorporates a healthy mind/healthy body philosophy while encouraging you to seize personal quiet time for replenishment whenever you are able.

Emu demonstrates how to integrate the positive and supportive aspects of both our ‘yin’ and ‘yang’ characteristics by drawing their wisdom into everything we do, thus enriching our view of the world and our place (and that of our children) within it.”

That heart makes all the difference, don’t you think?

.

It’s also about having faith.

I’m writing this on Friday, so that it will post for you on the very first second of Saturday.  It’s a special day (and you can see below, we’ve gone with our Special Occasion deck), today The Deputy and I have been married for 33 years.

Which is pretty great.  Until you compare it to our parents.  Both sets, 50 plus, for the two couples.  We have a way to go, me and Dan, and we’ll always be chasing them.

This is okay, a good thing, in fact.  Not competitive, merely a focused aim.  And it’s what our message is looking at right now, too.

             We’re being asked to see:

Longevity.

It’s a Universal Truth that everything changes.  While at the same time, much appears to be the same.

What gives some relationships / lessons /general life experiences a hefty dose of longevity?  While others are short-term?

People have compared marriage to sporting events, business deals, and a variety of other types of team or partnered activities.  It’s not like any of them.  It’s specific unto itself, and it can be a part of our journey.

Also, a marriage can change.  From within, just as we do.  When it grows along with the people in it, then it has longevity.  When it is more of a rest stop along the way, then it’s not so long-lived, and that was the purpose it served. The lesson we gain, that stays with us forever.

We all learn as individuals, and that’s part of our adventure, too.  Whether we participate together with another person, or we walk our path as a solitary traveler, the long-haul type of experiences are flowing and moving, shifting and evolving, just like all of life.  What we take with us from each lesson is where Longevity speaks the loudest.

On our card altar, here’s one of the reasons why.

confidence

“Bustard  ~  18  ~  Confidence

Spirit is all that is.  It is the life force in all things.  Spirit resides in the mountains, in the trees, the rivers, and the clouds; the birds, the insects, the stones, the plants, and the four winds.  Everything of Creation is a celebration of Spirit – including you and me.

To know Spirit is to have unwavering confidence that we will be protected, nurtured, and encouraged to live a prosperous life.  To walk with Spirit is to know true abundance on all levels: healthy and happy children, meaningful relationships, a balanced life, a healthy and strong body, a sound mind.  When we recognise these things as being true abundance, Spirit welcomes more conventionally recognised forms of abundance to flow freely into our lives.

The Bustard exhibits a proud faith in the belief that Spirit and Mother Earth will provide all that is needed to live an honest, protected, and humble life.  It demonstrates how to achieve a modest yet confident air fueled by trust, stillness, and a discreet approach to life.

Bustard does not suggest that we strip ourselves of all earthly possessions in order to live a good life, though.  It simply warns that to favour material things and the attainment of money is no guarantee of an abundant and happy life.

Bustard wonders if you have stopped trusting your relationship with Spirit.  Have you lost faith in your connection with the Earth Mother?  Have you begun to see the accumulation of material belongings as being proof of your worthiness rather than the inherent connection you have with all things?

Bustard is encouraging you to sit motionless, silent within yourself, and ask whether or not you feel confident that your life is leading you in the direction you had hoped.  Are you able to hold your head up, with your face aimed directly at Spirit, and say that your life is all that it was meant to be?

Bustard asks that you focus on the wealth and abundance that you already have in your life and give thanks for them.  Surrender your fears and limitations and offer gratitude to the Earth Mother and to Spirit for your wonderful life, and feel confident that you will soon know great wealth on all levels.”

married 33 years

Not really sure why it was legal in 1982 for children to get married…..

Little known fact: my sister made that hair wreath about two hours before the ceremony.  Using flowers she and I picked from our apartment building’s courtyard planter and some leftover bits of my bouquet (which, itself, was a half-assed home-made construction we threw together, also at the last minute).

Oh yeah, we’re fancy folk!   (Not.)

.

Got Your Back

I know that some recent daily definitions have mentioned how we are maybe standing on the outside looking in, but today, what I heard was that we need to never forget the truth of how we’re not left alone, either.  Solitary though we may be, we are not alone alone.

Remember, we have our Team (those we’ve chosen to incarnate with, as well as the loved ones at Home), in addition to who we call family.  Whether they be of direct biological relation or not, we are never more than a message or request away from someone who cares for us.

The reality is, we are never without:

Support

We receive this support on more levels than we can even imagine.  Or are aware of.   But, it’s there.  It is always and consistently there.

And we are given reminders of it, repeatedly.  The trick is to notice them, and then, be grateful.

Some of my own support no longer comes from this physical plane.  On our card altar right now, I am acknowledging that by drawing from the Special Occasion stack.  My best friend would have turned 51 today.

She would have appreciated this particular selection, in a huge and powerful way.  (Which, of course, makes me think that she had something to do with its appearance.)

trickster messages

“Dingo  ~  25  ~  Trickster

Portrayed as overconfident in many a tale, the simple Dingo artlessly assumes that the world will support his needs, that he will be welcomed and nurtured and that his charm and adaptability will carry him through.

A naturally friendly but socially inexperienced character, Dingo often bites off more than he can chew, then sits licking his wounds in a confused state when his actions inevitably backfire on him.

Although Dingo ostensibly approaches life unaware of the penalties and pitfalls that usually appear painfully obvious to the more mature and street-wise among us, he teaches by example to learn from our mistakes and to never take life too seriously.  He espouses that as long as we are able to laugh at ourselves and learn when we trip ourselves up, we will never again fall victim to our own illusory tricks.”

Today’s Painful Lesson Learned:

is about how all of the clothing (and my favorite bike-riding slippers) which went with me into that mountain of slivers last week had to be disposed of.  They went out with the trash tonight.

No, they were not savable.  I tried.  Dan tried.  (For fucking days we tried.)  Believe me, if I could have kept them, I certainly would have!  Instead, my hatred of bark-mulch has grown exponentially (which is saying a lot, because it was not small before this unfortunate incident).

Anybody have a spare tank top, sweatshirt, and pair of black yoga pants I can borrow?  Size: tubby-and-short.

.

She would have been 50 today.

Happy Birthday to my sister.  She went Home before the rest of us.  But I  know she can still hear me.  And feel us.

On this, a Special Occasion, we’ve gone with our designated-for-that-reason stack.

special occasion, birthday, oracle cards, animal messages

“Lyrebird  ~  1  ~  Genetic Memory

Lyrebird supports the concept of genetic memory through its ability to remember the forest sounds of over 200 years ago.  Flawlessly mimicking repetitious sound, the older birds pass on to their young the sounds they were taught by their parents, thus literally handing-on sacred lineal knowledge to the next generation.  The young instinctively learn the sounds almost as if they are hearing them through their Ancestor’s ears.

Within every individual cell that collectively makes us whole, resides the keys to the unlocking of the memory of past experiences passed from one generation to the next.  Such memory is inherited and genetic in nature.

Genetic memory represents all that we have ever been.  It embodies all that we have ever experienced, all that we have ever encountered, and all that we have ever understood.  It represents all that our body inherently recognises without explanation; knowledge that cannot be justified or rationalised.  It is a fair argument, therefore, that our body remembers the memories of everything ever witnessed by us since the beginning of time.

If the Lyrebird has flaunted his way into your cards today, you are being primed for a time of great remembering.  The Ancestors are calling to you from the Void to remember a connection shared or a lifetime had in a period long ago.  Such effort will provide deeper understanding of the relationships and responsibilities you have now, enabling you to put them into context, thus affording you greater clarity and personal direction.”

Final Thoughts:

are mostly just about how, we are all part of each other.  Like the Lyrebird, we retain parts of our loved ones when they no longer are physically with us, our memories are never gone.  And neither, really, are any of us.

With that in mind, I’ll always treasure the birthdays my sister and I shared, but it’s probably time now, for me to move forward (ever spiraling upwards), and build a new way to celebrate on my own.

             Probably.  I’ll keep you posted.

A Quarter Of A Century

Culturally, we have a certain amount of constants.  We’ve even made them in to jokes, saying that nothing is certain except birth, death, and taxes.

Personally, I’ve never made enough money for taxes to be much of an issue.  But the other two items on that list have definitely interrupted/enhanced my journey.

Specifically birth.  On this day, 25 years ago, I was in a hospital, awaiting the arrival of what would be my last baby.  Empress got here in a healthy, albeit dramatic, fashion.  Low-keyed, but not without some concern.

Every day since then,  she’s made a difference.  In every single life that she’s touched.  There are people who just matter, quietly and deeply.  My youngest kid is exactly that.

Because it’s a special day, we have chosen from our Special Occasion stack.  And what our focus turns to now, is perfectly suited.

healing messages, kookaburra, animal oracle cards, australia

“Kookaburra  ~  16  ~  Healing

Taking responsibility for our own healing is probably one of the most confronting things any one can do, especially if the intention is to acknowledge and release pent up pain, confusion, and resentment, which are common by-products of years of postponed healing.

In our times, it is common for people to live their entire lives without ever truly healing many of their past painful experiences and long-held resentments.  Most of the time these individuals do not realise there is an alternative to the internal suffering caused when we ignore the need for healing, or fail to see that there is healing to be done.  It is often ignorance rather than denial that prevents healing from taking place.

The Kookaburra has a distinctive call that strongly resembles human laughter, thus earning it the title of ‘the Laughing Kookaburra.’  Many assume therefore, that the message of Kookaburra is that of lightening up and learning to laugh at yourself.  It may be true that its laughter inspires others to laugh along with it, and this rather obvious assessment of Kookaburra’s Dreaming is sometimes relevant.   But the truth of the matter is that if Kookaburra does appear in your cards today, its true message goes far deeper than its superficial laughter.

Among their regular prey, Kookaburra catch Snakes by plunging down, seizing them behind the head, flying up high into the air, and dropping them to their death.  Snake is the harbinger of healing on all levels.  Kookaburra therefore, as a bird that hunts Snakes, is telling you to take responsibility for your own healing and to stop laughing it off.

Although you may have never spoken of your desire to see your own healing fulfilled, those around  you will have sensed the need.  Verbalising your need for healing to these people will not only be a relief for you, it will result in a collective sigh from those around you.  ‘That explains so much . . . ‘ will be the general consensus.

Kookaburra awakens us to our inner truth and, thus, the dawning of a new day.  So, remember, that to witness a silent Kookaburra is Spirit’s way of restoring faith in our quest for personal healing.”
