Gratitude Attitude Return

We are encouraged, through uncountable religious, belief systems, and spiritual paths, to Be In The Moment.  To sit in a state of grace.  To appreciate our small gifts.

And truthfully?  They’re right.  We absolutely should.  We absolutely need to count our blessings and not our problems.  We absolutely have to spend more time being thankful and less time complaining.

The trick is, to do it.  To capture those:

Precious Moments.

It is (like so damn many other aspects of this long, arduous, strange journey) simple.  But not necessarily easy.

I did some of it today, though.  I sat.  I breathed.  I rocked.  I held my grandbaby.  I stopped time for those brief and beautiful never-to-be-captured-again fleeting moments.

It is Self-Care of the highest order.  It is about taking the time to NOT notice time.  It’s good for us.  And sometimes, that’s the best thing.

To perfectly personify this generosity of the soul, we have an ideal validation on our card altar right now.

“Generosity  ~  St Nicholas of Myra

You are being asked to start or continue giving time, money, assistance, or goods.  This act helps you know how much you have, and leads to a feeling of abundance that automatically attracts greater prosperity into your life.

The more you give, the more you will receive.  Contribute with joy and be totally detached from the outcome of your offering.  St Nicholas reminds us of the happiness we receive when we give to others, from the spirit of love.

Allow yourself to be surprised at how the universe gives back to you.”

is this affirmation.

i deserve the best

I deserve the best.

And I accept the best now.

I am mentally and emotionally equipped to enjoy a prosperous and loving life.

It is my birthright to deserve all good.

I claim my good.

I deserve the best.

And I accept the best now.

Helping Up and Out.

Tomorrow we hit the road, well before noon, and head north.  Hopefully making excellent time and never getting lost.  Arriving at the wedding well before the start hour.  The day after, we load up, again WAY damn early, and come home.

Fingers crossed that, again, we make terrific travel time, so that we can pedal out for our appointed event.  This afternoon I had a photo cropped and copied.   *A* believes that if I am prepared, and have my ducks in a row, as it were, that this Release will be more genuine and meaningful.  Of course she’s right.

I don’t want to say that we’ll have “props” while we gather at the memorial bench, but we will have items of import.  Here’s the picture I came across, that we’ll be using for a focal point.

(This is a bad representation, and for some reason it is glaringly yellow.  Blame the fact that it was me and my camera, trying to capture a very old proof which was never actually finished to portrait quality.  In our poorly lit Burrow.)

sisters as attendants,

Speaking of weddings.

There were no attendants for our civil ceremony, just a Best Man, and a Best Sister.  Dan’s sisters had other, very important jobs, as did my brother.  But Gay stood up with me for the official part.  (She was barely in high school.)

Today, truthfully, was the first time in several decades that I went through my wedding album.  And really looked at all of the people who were there.  It made me cry, but is was good.  So healing.  And so freaking connected to where we’ll be tomorrow!

Last night I didn’t sleep well.  My arm (which has a strange heat-rash…. stress, anyone?!) was itchy to the point of bothering everybody.  It was so bad that I got up.  (Read that again.  I left the bed!  THAT’S how annoying it was, and how well I did NOT sleep.)

But when the alarm started to irritate us all, I only hit the snooze once.  And here’s what I heard:

we might not gain enough by continuing to live in the rubble;

it may not be worth the effort;

so repair and rebuild as soon as possible.

This seemed to be saying that, sure we all have lessons, but let’s not wallow in the self-pity to the point of injury and discomfort.  Especially when we can have a delightfully refreshing new start to perk us up and brighten our journey.

(Or, ya know, however that applies to you and your situation.   Interpretation is relative.)

On to the card alter, where we continue to move around in our regular rotation.  If you are new here, you may not be aware of the fact that I’m a huge fan of J.C.  Those of you who know me, will already realize how happy I was to see him show up in today’s draw.

(Atheists, Tribalists, Shamanists, other Pagans, or any one else who may be bothered by the following, feel free to move past it.  We haven’t spoken this outloud in a while, but this blog remains a Hate Free Zone, tolerating all loving beliefs and caring systems of thought.)

jesus christ, angel cards, miracles

“Miracle  ~  Christ

Christ is with you and is engendering a miracle for you and the situation you are asking about.  He shines God’s light upon you and your loved ones, keeping you all safe and protected.  You’ve asked for a miracle, and one is with you.  Let go of how you think it should appear, as it comes directly from God’s infinite wisdom, through Jesus Christ, and into your life.

Jesus is lending you his supreme belief in the Almighty’s power in order to help stay filled with trust and hope.   He reminds you that with faith, all things are possible, and that you  (like everyone) deserve Heaven’s help, love, and attention.  You don’t need to be a perfect person to enlist Christ’s support.

Be open to receiving help in a miraculous and ingenious way.  Know that you deserve this gift from the Universe.   After all, this miracle not only helps you, but it inspires faith in others.”

I’d like to add that it also inspires lovingkindness.  We all know that when we help, or accept offers of help, it ripples out, befitting everyone near and far.

Additionally, here’s a private thing.  It’s what I say in my mind, whenever I read excessively religious (as opposed to generically spiritual) definitions like this one:  Mr and Mrs God.

I think of them like camp hosts, or, as if they were a managing couple, overseeing the apartment complex of the World.  We are the renters/campers, and they are the ones we go to when the plumbing backs up or the dumpsters are over-full.

So, obviously,  today’s Miracle Worker is head of maintenance.  He’s the guy who actually DOES the fixing.  (You’re welcome.)

Today’s Mileage:

is really close to yesterday’s, even though I went a slightly different direction, for 7.486 miles, in 43 minutes 42 seconds, with a slower average pace of 10.2 MPH.

FLP Report:

Virginia, Maine, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, several Alaska, more Washington and California than I could count.   All of this in a six block strip.   Yeah, I’d say students are starting to show up.

Overly Ambitious.

So, we were going to get back to pulling a card a day, and I mentioned how I had all these decks stashed around the hovel….

Um, yeah.  Had more than I thought I did.  Guess we will need to narrow this down a bit.  (Where did some these come from???)  I need ideas people!  There is no way my smooth brain can manage this many.  I’d be lost before I even got started.  I already know that I will toss aside duplicates, there are probably three or four Tarot types in that selection.  Or should I?  Perhaps having a few standard, old favorites, is a way to go?  I had intended to set up an altar for the cards we would use (you can see elements I have included, sort of, but they kind of got over shadowed by all the damn cards), and make it a rotation.  And then today I started digging around (and dusting things off) and I ended up with THAT!

The feedback I need is this: what do you want to learn/find out about?  Is it more interesting if we use different types of decks?  There are animal totems, druid, whimsical, a couple of different oracles, and I think one or two angels/saints in there as well.  A generous combo of the mix?  I’ll start tomorrow, weed some out if that’s a majority response.  Otherwise, I’ll need to get a larger table!

26th Card, and I’m Melting.

Yes, say that in the Wicked Witch of the West’s voice, and feel very green when you do.  I’d give anything for a little girl with a bucket of water right now.

On a completely unrelated note (because I am not the only person who is complaining about the weather) Daniel suggested to me last night (oh right, the boys got home safely, sorry, forgot that part) that we continue a card of the day type of deal when this oracle deck ends.  (Sorry Em, means more reading for you, but ya know, you can just ignore them.)  I’ve mentioned that I have several decks floating around the hovel, so I’ll just rotate them and maybe pick one each day.  I’m also thinking about setting up a specific altar with the decks all laid out nicely (of course there will be a picture), so as to alleviate my own confused head.  I can’t use the Angels and Saints deck because that’s the one I’m in the middle of, for my self elf, right now.  But if we DO go with this idea, I’ll be done with it in a few weeks, so I can toss it in to the rotation fairly soon.  Thoughts?  Suggestions?  Complaints?  Other ideas?

The High Lady of Love and Compassion ~ 1 ~ reverence, kindness, consideration.

When she chooses to be our Ally she brings deep and meaningful messages.  Only Love is real, it is the sole unconditional and true power behind all means of manifesting out of the unseen and into the material.  Loves greatest creative power is ignited by the conscious action of compassion.  This card is all about generosity, reverence, respect, and empathy.  We wield a profound power and live a life of happiness and contentment when we keep this in mind.  Give selflessly, without expecting anything in return, and we are guaranteed to see the evidence that we are truly loved, and all manner of sychronicities will align in our favor.

I think this is a great message, not necessarily a great illustration of it though.  Maybe I just don’t adore the color scheme.  It is very muted, almost old world tones, washed out reds and olive greens.  The central figure is a woman (with translucent wings that are at rest) perched in the woods with a far away look on her face.  Her skirt is shades of pink, dull red, fading to the greens of the forest around her.  There are bright spots throughout the dark tones, fairies, sparkles, a bird, and a large bee.  Her hair is, I felt, needlessly brilliant.  I went back and re-read the meaning so I could get her picture out of my head, leaving me with a much better feeling about this card.
