As I learn more and more about the entire concept of Zen acceptance, I understand where it might be a confusing idea to an otherwise trained mind.  It could be thought of as very Pollyannaish.

The misidentified description of what it means to be positive-and-yet-still-practical is prevalent.  It’s wrong, but it’s far-reaching.  Too bad, because to have a constant state of endurance in our beliefs is the very meaning of hope.

Here’s what I heard this morning:

keep trying, always.

To live out our dreams, we must never give up.  Even to get through a tough day full of rocky patches and tangled messes is to have hope.  It’s about knowing that no matter how bad a specific or certain thing might be, there is always another chance, another moment, another day.

They pass, the bad times.  Just as the good do.  We evolve, we grow, we learn.  We also, continuously, heal.  And in the healing there is also hope.  To keep trying.  To keep going.   To believe.

Within our regular rotation around the card altar right now, we have another layer to this same message.

“The Fire Prince  ~  40  ~  optimism

When the Fire Prince arrives as your Ally, he lets you know that he represents the invisible forces behind all manner of manifestation, and he brings you the gift of optimism.

You will be rightly inspired to move forward and take confident and assertive action to reach your goal.

Envisioning the path of the highest good with an optimistic outlook, the Fire Prince also brings you the gift of a miracle.  Things come together as if by magic to create the reality you seek.

You have every reason to be hopeful.  Move forward, knowing that you have every thing you need and more.

Just remember to share the enthusiasm, believe in others, and be optimistic for them, too, and your good fortune will multiply.”
