Today’s message is compelling, and maybe controversial; it arrived to force us into thinking deep thoughts.  (I know!)

The dichotomy of “this time of  year” is stress-inducing for many reasons.  One of which is the metaphysical confusion factor.

We go from being über grateful, to being way want-y.  (I’m blaming greed and our advertising culture, but you can point your finger at whoever feels right to you.)

Our soul is enriched by Giving Thanks, we are enjoying our time with loved ones, and then, barely before we’ve finished digesting, BOOM!  We’re assaulted by countless items we MUST PURCHASE BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.

This is not good for us.  Here’s what I heard earlier:

In a tidy fashion.

Let’s talk priorities.  How important, on a life-or-death scale, are the disposable pieces-of-shit that we’re being told we can’t live without?  ANY of them?  Not from where I sit.

It’s all about what has the greatest importance right now, what and who.  (On a personal level, food/heat/electricity out-rank buying “gifts” for everyone, including and beginning with myself.)

If we’re in a place where we can afford showing our love with purchases, maybe our dollars could help those who aren’t.  For years we’ve made (small) donations in the names of loved ones to a place that we feel strongly about supporting.  We aren’t always able to do this, but I know that it makes a difference when we are.

The Universe isn’t saying to toss out all of the Yuletide season, no, we NEED celebration.  The suggestion is just that we keep in mind what has value, and what does not.  Being mindful, on all levels, putting our important bits and pieces of life in the proper order.

And on our card altar, we have validation that our hard work is paying off.  (Finally!)

“A New Dawn  ~

‘The worst is behind you, and positive new experiences are on the horizon.’

You’ve endured storms over rough seas, but now the way is clear and smooth.  From hereon in, you can expect the best.

Wash away negativity from your consciousness and past memories, and keep only the positive lessons and love.  Don’t hang on to anything that could weigh you down, such as resentment or bitterness.  Let it go!

If you have gone through patterns of negativity in the past, this is the time to affirm: ‘I now release the need to experience this life lesson.  I extract whatever teachings I need to discover, and I move on to a life of harmonious and peaceful actions.’

By pulling this card, you’ve turned a corner in your life, wherein your prayers and positive thoughts are delivering rays of Divine light to illuminate your present and future.”

Um, no.  Dude, you’re supposed to be WAY back ……. there.

Remember my gate guardian?  Well, when we have high winds and extreme weather, he does his best, but sometimes he gets shoved nearly off the porch.  I rescued him after I took this picture, so now, he’s back where he belongs.

  1. I am finding that I would much rather give the gift of time and gentle intention than “things” these days, with a few exceptions. I think most of the artificially constructed “wants” need to be replaced with genuine celebration for the return of the light (and staving off these next few weeks with lights, candles, fires and such.) BRO usually gets my financial contribution… along with KWAX.

  2. This is SUCH a good message for me today, both the card and getting away from the “wanty-wanty” schtick. I was at the grocery store the other day, and as I was walking in, they were handing out fliers about the local food pantry, so I picked up a few of the things on their list and dropped it off on my way out. It felt really good for me to stop thinking about myself for a little while, and to turn the focus outward. So important all the time, but especially during this season!

  3. We had the news on because of weather issues and got slapped with a bunch of the wanty-wanty stuff. They’re starting to run all the “How much consumers have spent so far and what retailers are doing to try and get them to spend more.” reports. *shakes head* Then we got to hear how people had lined up the morning the day BEFORE a sale and how some people got into a fight over their spot in line. SERIOUSLY!? I could see this if it was a life saving drug and your kid was dying. But over toys and electronics? No. Not exactly the spirit of Christmas. I don’t know if I’m just being sensitive about this, but it just seems to be getting worse every year. *shrugs*

Like the card. I could use a ‘New Dawn’. And it reinforces the three R’s! I’m trying to remember to ‘Release, Relax and Receive’!

Poor Gate Guardian! I hope you don’t get hit too hard by the incoming storm. I know a lot of people in Northern CA have big hopes for the rain. Hopefully, everyone stays safe.
