We have a running joke around here about our family motto being, “half-assed is good enough.” It’s only partly true.
When there’s a job to be done, we’re actually really good at our chosen professions, so we DO get it done. We’re remarkably good, in fact. That’s not boasting, merely being truthful.
What we were raised to believe, not be hung up on, was more about the attitude, not the presentation. We are not, for generations in many directions, a group who generally gives a flying fuck about keeping up with the Jones’.
(Minor exceptions to every rule, of course.)
So it may look like we aren’t trying. But, when it counts, we are. And we do. Deeply.
Which is what I saw this morning. It’s about genuine accomplishments, not the appearance of doing well, or looking good while NOT doing something with any substance behind it.
When we set our sights on the superficial, that’s what we’ll end up with. But, when we honestly strive to help, to serve, to make the world a better place, then we have done our job. And that’s what we’ll get back.
We’ve completed the essential task which will make a real difference. The important part of this message is that, we really do know, deep down what those assignments are. And if we feel like we don’t? All we need to do is ask. Help is only a thought / prayer / request away.
On our card altar right now, we are being handed (from such a venerable source) a powerful validation. How absolutely fortunate we are.
“Physical Body ~ 31 ~ Gaia
Nutrition, Physical Well-being, Groundedness, Practicality
Gaia, the Divine Earth Mother, is present, making you aware of your marvelous physical body, her great gift to you. Be grateful for her gift; it’s a wondrous temporary home for your spirit.
She asks that you give it the respect and attention it deserves and needs, so take care of it with love and attention. Give it adequate rest, a proper diet, and a calm and peaceful environment.
Spend time with nature, as the earth is the true mother to your body and will restore it.
The better you care for your body, the more it will serve your spirit. Listen to your body – its gut feelings, its flutters, its impulses as Gaia speaks to you through it. This is the Earth Mother cradling you, protecting you, and guiding you through each day.
She advises you not to live in your head alone and ignore the physical self. Without a strong connection to your body, you’ll be weak and unable to achieve your goals.
Gaia’s message is this, pay attention to your body.”
