Elemental and Elementary

For the first time, since my spontaneous channeling began last year, I’ve been visited.  Several decades ago, this also happened.  That time, it was Thunderbirds.  And it was amazing.  Also, life-changing.

             Today, it was a

Salamander

My first impression was, “oh yeah, from Fire.”  But then, I remembered that the colour of what we see is so very important.  This was bright and full of life.

The vibrant reds and oranges, reminiscent of flames, were warming and brought such a homey comfort.  Like a welcome hearth during a blustery, cold storm.

Additionally, not only is our visitor “of Fire” but these personifications of that direction/element are associated with creative energy in general.  That “spark” of a new idea or “flash” of brilliance, that’s Salamander.

They are connected to volcanoes and metallurgy and too many celebratory burning festivals to list.  Their heritage and mythology goes back to ancient times, before records of any sort were kept, only the stories were told.

They were known to be a powerful touchstone in the conceptualizing of their spiritual essence.  Combined with Water, Air, and Earth, they make the complete foundation.  Adding in Spirit, brings us to the notion of being Whole.   With One, and from Source.

No matter what their origins or stories, though, I’m just glad that this messenger arrived.  The gift of Fire and creativity are always appreciated.

Another gift, from our card altar, as we return to the regular rotation, is this pair.  So simple, and yet so important.  And I think, very well matched.

“Projections  ~  7  ~  Water: Emotions

The man and woman in this card are facing each other, yet they are not able to see each other clearly.  Each is projecting an image they have constructed in their minds, covering the real face of the person they are looking at.

All of us can get caught up in projecting movies of our own making onto the situations and people surrounding us.  It happens when we are not fully aware of our own expectations, desires, and judgments; instead of taking responsibility for them and owning them, we try to attribute them to others.

A projection can be devilish or divine, disturbing or comforting, but it is a projection nonetheless – a cloud that prevents us from seeing reality as it is.  The only way out is to recognize the game.

When you find a judgment arising about another, turn it around: does what you see in others really belong to you?  Is your vision clear, or clouded by what you want to see?

Ordinariness  ~  8  ~  Rainbows: The Physical

This figure walking in nature shows us that bounty can be found in the simple, ordinary things of life.  We so easily take this beautiful world we live in for granted.

Cleaning the house, tending the garden, cooking a meal – the most mundane tasks take on a sacred quality when they are performed with your total involvement, with love, and for their own sake, without thought of recognition or reward.

You are facing a time now when this easy, natural, and utterly ordinary approach to the situation you encounter will bring far better results than any attempt on your part to be brilliant, clever, or otherwise extra-ordinary.  Forget all about making headlines by inventing the latest widget, or dazzling your friends and colleagues with your unique star quality.

The special gift you have to offer now is presented best by just taking things easily and simply, one step at a time.”

Or, as Salamander says, burn away the excess and the fake.  All we truly need, is the genuine and the real.

Today’s Site Update:

is that WordPress has a problem.  It’s an editing page, and it’s a piece of shit.  The forums are blowing up.  Hopefully it won’t effect us here.  Fingers crossed.

  1. Effectively stumping your affect. Me, too. Fortunately, most of my copy editors (with three stripes and numbers) didn’t even know there was a difference…

I like Salamander’s phraseology. I got to meet a salamander not too long ago. Handsome fellow.

I was just reading some briefings (brought home by 536 so that I can stay in the loop now that I can’t hear anyone but Troopers and the occasional ambulance dispatch) and ohmyholyfuckingawd the illiteracy and grammatical ignorance……

  2. I never even saw this editing page since I do everything from my dashboard. However, they did change the posting page so it just keeps going down, leaving the save, draft, tag box, etc. at the top so you have to scroll up and down for that. I was happy with it the way it was (i.e. I don’t like change…).

And while I’m not a big fan of this deck, this Ordinariness card has popped up after another ‘reminder’ to approach daily tasks with gratitude. “Live in the moment” so to speak. So my 3 minutes will be about recognizing the awesomeness around me and being grateful for what I have right in front of me.

I finally had to unsubscribe to the forum feed, it was all too depressing with nothing being done to help. Changes are being forced upon me, which just makes me need to change even more.
    No bueno.
