As we journey along, walking our path, interacting and learning and growing, we’re also teaching and leading and instructing.  All of us are, at one or more points, both the educator and the student.

Which is what I was shown this morning.  That balance and exchange.

The inspiring of others.

Sometimes the relationship is precisely and exactingly refined, pupil and teacher, in a structured setting.  But more often, it’s a fluid and flexible affiliation.  Where the back and forth is equal parts learning and instructing.

Additionally, we have those passing moments where we “accidentally” make contact.  It’s brief, but usually life-changing.  Keep in mind that our teacher/student will appear exactly when we need this experience the most.

Staying within our regular rotation around the card altar today, we are given more examples of this concept; the idea is taken further, but also we are being reminded of what we have yet to understand.

osho zen tarot, alternative tarot, beyond illusion, the lovers

“Beyond Illusion (reversed)  ~  XX  ~  Major Arcana

This is the only distinction between the dream and the real:

reality allows you to doubt, and the dream does not allow you to doubt . . .

The butterfly in this card represents the outer, that which is constantly moving and that which is not real but an illusion.  Behind the butterfly is the face of consciousness, looking inward to that which is eternal.

The space between the two eyes has opened, revealing the lotus of spiritual unfoldment, and the rising sun of awareness.   Through the rising of the inner sun, meditation is born.

The card reminds us not to look outside for what is real, but to look within.  When we focus on externals, we too often get caught up in judgments – this is good, this is bad, I want this, I don’t want that.

These judgements keep us trapped in our illusions, our sleepiness, our old habits and patterns.  Drop your opinionated mind, and move inside.  There, you can relax into your own deepest truth, where the difference between dreams and reality is already known.

The Lovers  ~  XI  Major Arcana

What we call love is really a whole spectrum of relating, reaching, from the earth to the sky.  At the most earthly level, love is sexual attraction.  Many of us remain stuck there, because our conditioning has burdened our sexuality with all kinds of expectations and repressions.

Actually the biggest ‘problem’ with sexual love is that it never lasts.  Only if we accept this fact can we then really celebrate it for what it is – welcome its happening, and say good-bye with gratitude when it’s not.

Then as we mature, we can begin to experience the love that exists beyond sexuality and honors the unique individuality of the other.  We begin to understand that our partner often functions as mirror, reflecting unseen aspects of our deeper self and supporting us to become whole.

This love is based in supporting freedom, not expectation or need.  Its wings take us higher and higher towards the universal love that experiences all as one.”

Butterfly?  Relationships?  Yep, that’s a validation alright.  Now all we need to do is get the Challenger turned into an Ally.

  1. I am feeling quite earthbound right now, so the cards feel rather far away from me. But they are something to ponder.

I do love The Bloggess and especially when she talks about the search results that lead to her blog. You really have to wonder how the hell those searches lead to her blog. Do you ever look at your analytics to see what searches lead readers to your blog?

There is a feature, provided by WordPress, on our dashboard page that shows the searches. Mine tend to be more spiritual in nature, and Pagan-y. Some of them are fun, and can be extremely diverse, but not nearly as wild as hers.

  2. Omg. Thanks for The Bloggess today. Holy crap that was funny. And I really needed funny today. (And today came out toady…ummm?)

Toady? Did you also need spiritual cleansing?

  3. This is interesting. I like the comparisons, and agree with looking inward. And now I’ll have to dash over and read The Bloggess. : )

The looking inward part can be challenging, but it is SO necessary.

  4. That was funny! Still don’t like Osho’s cards much. Do like the message.
