We’re going to begin with a mundane world report.  Well, two updates, actually.  The first is that my number came up, so I’ll be riding the bus to jury duty tomorrow.  To describe me as unhappy would be akin to saying how wet the oceans are.

Also, I’ve been extremely disappointed that my plan for beginning The Map (book and card set) has been delayed.  Turns out, after the mall job ended, I still didn’t have enough time to get everything done.  Day to day life shit just won’t stop attacking us.  (Nothing dire, no one died.)

When “regular” crap causes detours away from my IMPORTANT metaphysical work, I get highly irritable.  And then depressed.  Fortunately I am able to go and sit with my cards and share the messages I receive there with all of you (who I appreciate more than I can say).  It’s a calming action that soothes  from the soul outwards.

(And if that doesn’t do the trick, there’s always guided meditations, to completely remove me from the chaos.  Albeit temporarily.)

Earlier I woke up with a sort of cryptic message, and the need to return us to our regular rotation around the card altar.  These all go together.  A.  Lot.

Listen closely to hear deeply.

The mere act of being mindful, being aware and present  is a gift.  It is us doing JUST what we need to when we need to do it.  To “hear deeply” we must pay attention to all that goes on.  Within and without.

To “listen closely” is to tune in.  To be an active participant.  To engage joyously all along our path.  To walk with purpose and lovingkindness, every step of the way.

It is, as this duo shows us, to be harmoniously at ease.  Joyfully balanced.

“Playfulness  ~  Page of Fire  ~  Mastery of Action

The moment you start seeing life as non-serious, a playfulness, all the burdens on your heart disappears.  All the fear of death, of life, of love – everything disappears.  One starts living with a very light-weight or almost no weight.  So weightlessness one becomes, one can fly in the open sky…….

Life is rarely as serious as we believe it to be, and when we recognize this fact, it responds by giving us more and more opportunities to play.  The woman in this illustration is celebrating the joy of being alive, like a butterfly that has emerged from its chrysalis into the promise of the light.

She reminds us of the time when we were children, discovering seashells on the beach or building castles in the sand without any concern that the waves might come and wash them away in the next moment.  She knows that life is a game, and she is playing the part of the clown right now with no sense of embarrassment or pretense.

When the Page of Fire enters your life, it is a sign that you are ready for the fresh and the new.  Something wonderful is just on the horizon, and you have just the right quality of playful innocence and clarity to welcome it with open arms.”

“Harmony  ~  10  ~  Water: Emotions

To be simple is arduous  because to be simple costs everything that you have.  You have to lose all to be simple.  That’s why people have chosen to be complex and they have forgotten how to be simple…….

The experience of resting in the heart in meditation is not something that can be grasped or forced.  It comes naturally, as we grow more and more in tune with the rhythms of our own inner silences.

The figure on this card reflects the sweetness and delicacy of this experience.  The dolphins that emerge from the heart and make an arc towards the third eye reflect the playfulness and intelligence that comes when we are able to connect with the heart and move into the world from there.

Let yourself be softer and more receptive now, because an  inexpressible joy is waiting for you just around the corner.  Nobody else can point it out to you, and when you find it  you won’t be able to find the words to express it to others.  But it’s there, deep within your heart, ripe and ready to be discovered.”

Look at how these two, their colors and hues, compliment each other.  Just as the definitions do.  Delightfully uplifting.

  1. I haven’t pulled that deck out in a while, but seeing the cards makes me want to! It’s still so compelling, isn’t it? I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with Real Life, ewwwwwwww. Back to balance soon!

COMPELLING! Shit, that’s the perfect word for it. (It’s like you’re a writer, or something.)

  2. Good messages to hear. Enjoy jury duty, wife of and mother of a local police officer. You’ll get as far as the Mrs. did last summer. Into the jury box and kicked out on the first challenge.

I did. Only maybe with more chastising from a judge than your Mrs did.

  3. perfect cards today– I mean, they always apply, but some days the daily draw is exactly and immediately obviously applicable. 🙂 to be verbose. all caught up now. I’ve been called to jury duty a couple of times but I’ve never had to actually do it, hope your experience will be the same.

    Yay for being current!
    I’m aiming for that tomorrow.
    (End of Dan’s weekend.)

(Thank you, never too wordy for me.)

  4. Good luck with the jury duty and hopefully getting kicked out! Of course, my mom greatly enjoyed the two times she did it.

I’ve been absent in many ways and may continue to be so off and on. It’s just where I’m at right now (or where I’m not at: the sleep problems have finally accumulated so much that I can’t remember or think worth shit and even reading blog posts, much less responding, seems an overwhelming burden). I’ll be back when I can.

I am very glad I read today’s draw. I will try to keep that in mind, for as long as I can remember it.

    I totally understand.
