Strength and Liberty.

Turns out, I’m not as much like the Wicked Witch Of The West (or Elphaba, if you’ve read the book/seen the play) as was originally thought.  Water was her undoing, as we all know from the film.  Also, I’m not green.

And I can’t stand monkeys.  But the biggest difference is the heat.  Today I felt like I was in her black dress, beginning to puddle on the stone floor.  The worst part?  Tomorrow and the next day are going to be hotter.  Dan couldn’t be happier.

Not that I’m as sweaty as old gym socks, but because he ADORES this weather.  LIVES for it!  Me?  Much less.  When you get to the illustration for our daily draw, that’s the place for me.  So, clearly, I’m another sort of witch.

The type who wakes up with messages in her head.  Like this afternoon, when I heard this:

stand your ground;

not stubbornly, but forthrightly,

to achieve the highest good for all.

Are we being tested?  Is this a Challenge?  A Lesson?  Most certainly could be, seeing what the planets are currently up to, and that our learning is never-ending.

But I think it’s also about just living in a genuine way.  What we’re being told on the card altar, at first glance, doesn’t seem to mesh with this suggestion.  But really, looking deeper, they actually combine quite well.

“Break Free  ~

Try different ventures and experiences as a way to grow and learn.

Sometimes we get into ruts and routines because they feel safe and comfortable.  By drawing this card, you are asked to swim outside your comfort zone.  It’s time to take risks and explore new ways of thinking, making a living, or being in relationships.

When you make the commitment to explore and experiment, the world responds by giving you wonderful new experiences.  Heaven isn’t necessarily asking you to settle into these new avenues, but to instead test the water and venture out.

Sometimes we’ll experiment and learn new things, and then when we return to our comfortable old routines, we’re changed (for the better).  This is definitely a time for you to reach out and enjoy new options.  Try something new today!”

Something new?  How about an in-home air-conditioner?  No?  Too literal?  Okay, then I’ll just put my puffy feet up and drink my water in front of the fan.

Today’s (No) Mileage:

because it was hot.  Also the Deputy had a late call last night, so he slept past when I got up, which means there was less prep-time.  (Even though we left the house on time, we never would have made it to all of the places we needed to be on our bikes.  Additionally, did I happen to mention how fucking HOT it is right now?!)

Today’s Sharing:

is a very exciting glimpse of something new in my town.

See's Candy new store

Can you see the super cool cars they had on display?

It’s no secret that THIS is my favorite candy in all the world.  So when I spotted that new store today, I reacted in a MOST excited fashion.  No clue if it’s replacing the other one or not.  But I’ll figure it out in the next couple of days.  And report back.

  2. It’s supposed to be in the 80s this weekend here and in the 90s next week. I love it; my housemates, not so much.

Okay, I am definitely in a rut. Working on changing.
