Seeking Solutions.

One of the things I was telling Hanna about this weekend was what my summer sounds like right now.  Her father found a fancy phone app which allows us to receive Major League Baseball games, from local radio stations.

It’s as though we’ve fallen back in time.  An age where families gathered around to “hear” the news of the day.  Or later, when we could walk unencumbered with a tiny transistor on our shoulders, leaning into the sound. Truly memory invoking, as well as creating.  I am SO enjoying the regional announcers, and even some of the ads.

Today was a bit up and down for me.  Th0se fun ball games we heard were certainly cheering.  Before any feeling even registered though, I woke up with this as our message:

enthusiasm; SHOW how much you care.

And on our card altar, back within the regular rotation, are some signs that show us where we can gain assistance, if needed.  (Also, notice the Water/Fire compliment we have going on here.)

osho zen tarot

“The Source  ~  Fire: Action  ~  Ace

Zen asks you to come out of the head and go to the basic source . . . .

When we speak of being ‘grounded’ or ‘centered’ it is this Source we are talking about.  When we begin a creative project, it is this Source that we tune in to.

This card reminds us that there is a vast reservoir of energy available to us.  And that we tap into it not by thinking and planning but by getting grounded, centered, and silent enough to be in contrast with the Source.  It is within each of us, like a personal, individual sun giving us life and nourishment.  Pure energy, pulsating, available, it is ready to give us anything we need to accomplish something, and ready to welcome us back home when we want to rest.

So whether you are beginning something new and need inspiration right now, or you have just finished something and want to rest, go to the Source.  It’s always waiting for  you, and you don’t even have to step out of your house to find it.

Healing  ~  King of Water  ~  Mastery of Emotions  (R)

It is a time when the deeply buried wounds of the past are coming to the surface, ready and available to be healed.  The figure in this card is naked, vulnerable, open to the loving touch of existence.   The aura around his body is full of light, and the quality of relaxation, caring, and love that surrounds him is dissolving his struggle and suffering.

Lotuses of light appear on his physical body, around the subtle energy bodies that healers say surround each of us.  In each of these subtle layers appears a healing crystal or pattern.

When we are under the healing influences of the King of Water we are no longer hiding from ourselves or others.  In this attitude of openness and acceptance we can be healed, and help others also to be healthy and whole.”

Taking this together, specifically that Reversed King, I am struck by how very appropriate the message is.  We have been working so hard at doing a good job, learning our lessons, connecting to The Source, and yet, here we are, not QUITE at that healing threshold.

We WANT to be there, very VERY much.  However, we clearly still have some challenges in our path.  A few obstacles to get past before we will be able to truly release and let go with the freedom we desire.

That upside-down card, when in the traditional stacks, denotes an overly-emotional mindset.  Or a heavily weighted sense of not-so-great feelings.  To get it moving back direct (and to lighten the load), we need only focus on the “healthy and whole” aspect of the message, adding in the uplifting faith (tapping into that “vast reservoir“) of the first card.

As we heard yesterday, sometimes a cleansing cry is all it takes to move past that negativity, and begin the upward spiral again.

Today’s Deck:

Today’s Sharing:

will be two shots from right here, literally in our own front yard.

irises and lilies

Done with the iris blooming phase,
on to lilies now.

Dan called me out there this afternoon, before we left for the pool, to re-place our flamingo flock.  He’d done a bit of weed removal and had to bring all of Pinkie’s friends up on to the deck to keep them safe.

honeysuckles on the fence

The honeysuckle view I promised.
(Oh, how I wish I could also share the fragrance!)

There’s a dog behind that fence, really.  He kept walking in and out of frame, so only the very tip of his tail is visible.  (Or possibly it’s a leg?)

LateNight Update:

is to confirm that, yes, there IS a new header.  It’s from yesterday’s sharing/mileage views.  Two bikes, over the Willamette river, on the Knickerbocker Bridge.

  1. I like the new header.
Speaking of summer – it is flying. I can not believe that June 21st is almost here. My mom and I both are always a little depressed on that day because the days start getting shorter. This year we have had so much overcast and gloom the longer days haven’t even registered.
I’m thinking of having a kind of durgey – New Orleans funeral kind of day that day.

I know what you mean about it going so fast, it’s practically here! Our weather has just been off.
(Although, as Corina and I said in the comments recently, no one’s is right any more, we have to accept this new not-normal.)

  2. Love the yard shots and the new header. Our day lilies have budded but not yet bloomed. I hope they wait a little longer so I can protect them from the deer, which eat the blooms almost as soon as they appear.

We’ve also been reveling in the light. I sort of celebrate the two months on either side of the solstice as being the longest days of the year, although I have noticed that we’re done with “today is 3 minutes and 4 seconds longer than yesterday” and have migrated to “today is 46 seconds longer than yesterday” on the weather page. It is really nice to get out of rehearsal and have it still be light out, as nice as it is to have the sun up before I get to Mayberry.

Interesting card read, and a good reminder to ground and center.

I have no idea why the deer don’t bother these……

  3. the new header is great and so appropriate! We are also enjoying the light–it doesn’t get fully dark until nearly 11 now. I keep losing track of what time it is because it seems like it’s 6:30 when it’s 9:30. “get out of your head and go to the source” –works for me today. 🙂

I love it when that happens. But ya know, I don’t think I’d like it if we were any farther north.
    Like Alaska.

  4. Love the header.
It’s funny last weekend I was in L.A. at my daughter’s home and we were all exhausted so went to bed around 8pm. It was still so light out I thought I’d read for an hour or two. Ten minutes later I closed the book and dozed off. I figured it was no different than a daytime nap. : )

    Love your garden photos.

  5. Wonderful photos! I hope you show us photos of the newly placed Pinky and friends.

Good cards: I can use the messages from each of them.

The light so late is so weird. I mean, i was used to it when I lived here, and even when I lived in LC, but even just four years in Houston and I got used to it not staying light so late. So my sense of time is completely off in the evening. Oh well, I’m enjoying the light.

Pinkey’s friends are there, in the background of both shots, but I’ll try to grab some more. Where they all are easier to see.
