As Dan and I were walking across the parking lot today, on our way to pool class, I realized that my wee cellular device was still in my sweatshirt pocket.  I don’t generally bring it inside with me.  The wet air and overly damp atmosphere can’t be good for electronics, and I never use a lock* when I store my clothes in the changing room.

*I don’t have one any more, I gave it to him.  Years ago.

I was hemming and hawing, pondering and mulling, discussing and debating over what I wanted to do about this situation, and where to best keep it safe, when my (so-called) Beloved cuts me off, chiming in with the suggestion of simply keeping it with my other belongings because, “no one wants to steal your crappy old flip phone!”

Yes, he adores me.  Worships, might even be a better word.  Oh wait, I’m thinking of TOLERATES.

Later we grabbed some dinner.  While we were waiting, I scribbled down that caring statement.  So as to share with all of you!  He tries, the poor thing, he truly does try.  But honestly, everyone has a limit.

Wanna see what I got in the mail today?  Of course you do.  The greatest part is how it goes with our daily draw.

hand-made cards, fabric in the mail
Only two-thirds of my joyful parcels displayed.

That is a gorgeous hand-made card and some fantastic fabric*.  Both from friends from afar, arriving separately.  Also in this afternoon’s delivery was the guided meditation CD I recently ordered.  As soon as the deputy goes back to work I’ll give it a listen and report back.

*Might be for a quilting project that I have in mind, not sure yet.

On our card altar it was time to utilize one of those crafty cover-ups.  It needs some embellishments or coloring or something, but I never got back in there, so we take it like this.  Also perfectly fine.

God Of The Arts  ~

The artist within you is about to emerge.

You will soon feel a strong urge to express yourself creatively, as the true artist within you is about to emerge.  This creative expression will lead you to new and exciting ventures, projects, and ideas.

Expressing yourself creatively will also help you to balance and heal your emotions, which in turn will help balance and heal you physically.

This is a time to be authentic and true to yourself.  Allow yourself to express all you feel without reservation, censorship, or judgement.  Honour the inner child within you – and just be you.

You can express yourself artistically in endless ways – painting, sculpture, dancing, singing, playing a musical instrument, gardening, knitting, carpentry, woodworking, pottery, and writing are but a few of the many ways in which you can express yourself imaginatively and creatively.”

I’m going to add in my own: fabric manipulation and pattern-less sewing, as well as baking and food creation.  (We were inspired tonight to figure out that Naan/flat bread recipe.)

  1. Love the fabric and the card! Beautiful!

God of The Arts is perfect for me! I have been feeling creative for days now! 🙂 Venus is inspiring Mars wonderfully! And I like the cover-up, colored-in or not, it is still better than the original, I’m sure.

That ripped piece of an old paper bag was better than the original! 😛

  2. I got two belly laughs from this post so thanx for that!
“Oh wait I’m thinking of Tolerates.” Still laughing.
Then I saw the card and heehawed all the way through. Especially at this “Expressing yourself creatively will also help you to balance and heal your emotions, which in turn will help balance and heal you physically.” You’ll know why I laughed when you read the blogpost that I wrote and posted about an hour before I read this.

    Wow, we ARE connected!

  3. I recall a similar conversation between Mrs. Denial and me that had me somewhat exasperated over her losing a night of sleep over worrying what would have happened if she hadn’t got the internship that she did. She has worry perfected to a fine art, which is NOT what the card is suggesting at all. At least to me.

I know from the magical phone world that your children had a great time in Seattle, and that you and your beloved went to Evergreen last night. Do they have a buffet? We’d like to take Tatiana there sometime.

Their buffet is at lunch time (so obviously I’ve never been to it). But you can certainly order a la carte. We like to get the full dinner, then have left-overs. Either way, delicious!

  4. Oh, your poor sensitive flip phone. Hope it’s feelings weren’t hurt. My flip phone with the BIG numbers my kids laugh at, sends a hug. Ha ha.

Ha! Mine hugs yours right back.

  5. Don’t you just love flip phone snobs? I have a young one living in my house.

Beautiful cards and fabric! And there are so many creative things I would love to get my hands on, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day for everything. *sigh* (Yes, I’m greedy.)

We need to start a movement, re-arranging time, so that there ARE enough hours in our day.

  6. As I’m beginning to revive from the effects of packing and moving and driving, I’m starting to want to get back to my novel. Which is in a box in the mover’s truck. But that’s okay because the movers are coming to the storage unit today! Right now, the novel is the only creative thing I’ve got any energy for, but that will change. I expect to begin walking any day now and my friends’ house is on a steep hill, so I have lots of opportunity to increase my stamina and muscle quite quickly! 🙂

That card and the fabric are gorgeous! I can’t wait to see what you do with the fabric! What fun to get presents in the mail!

And I did figure out the view picture on yesterday’s post: it’s the view from the window behind Dan. Duh! 🙂

Well, good to know the picture was THERE and nothing was wrong with my post or our computer.

  7. Oh holy godiva. I need to go to that restaurant and worship at the smoky pork confit altar. Like, right now.

Also, the fabrics are gorgeous. Can’t wait to see what you do with them. 🙂

You need to invite my son to New Hampshire, he has a knack for finding the best places.
He’ll pay, or babysit, your choice.
    Probably. 😉
