Alert, but not very lively.

Still having stove issues.  Our poor deputy.  He broke the range top all apart today, when all he really wanted to do was make some hot cereal.  We got through that, but when we arrived home after the pool (planning on just having a big salad, staying clear of the entire misbehaving contraption) and remembered that we wanted rice pudding (for when our gold medal winner shows up here) it all fell apart again.

He had to finish it on the grill.  Pudding.  Made on the BBQ.  I’m pretty unsettled.  Then my mother called, another death in the family.  (Distant, but still.)  So we’ll be looking at our daily draw and then just hoping for the best.

“Deer  ~

Take note of the messages in whispers and secrets adrift on the breeze.

Hind, gentle, alert, every sense keen, stands motionless amongst the leafy trees.  Like Deer, be acutely aware now of what drifts to you on the breeze.  A snippet of conversation, even the fresh spice of cologne, may hold secrets untold.

Deer protects herself by gathering peacefully with others and counsels that you now seek to be part of a bigger whole.  If estranged from family or friends, Deer advises that the sagacious ask for forgiveness and forgive in turn, fostering mutual love and the regeneration that this brings.”

  1. Ugh, so sorry to hear about continued stove troubles and family losses. 😦 (((((HUGS & FGBV’s)))))

Interesting card… I will be alert… and I think I’ll go sit (motionless) at the foot of my Cypress for a bit… it’s not leafy, it’s needly, but I love it so, and it’s my sacred place.

  4. The gentleness of deer is what touches me most right now.

So sorry about your damned stove. But making unusual things on the BBQ isn’t so weird out here in Texas, especially after a hurricane. After Hurricane Ike, a friend of mine made everything on the BBQ for their two weeks of power outage, including soup and spaghetti! So you are being adventurous! (And slightly Texan …)

    Adventurous? Ohyeahbaby!
    Texan? Holyhellno!!!

  5. {{{hugs}}} Julie, thinking of you. wish I was closer so we could “gather peacefully” and be part of a larger whole. I suppose that’s JulieLand, though. 🙂
