Because I am feeling slightly unfocused right now (don’t worry, nothing huge like Scrambled Brain) we’ll begin with our daily draw again.  I know, it’s not like we have RULES or anything structured here.  (Please oh please oh please read shit in order!)  But I do like to announce crap when I feel it’s a sort of upside-down day.    And sometimes I’m feeling this way because of other, outside influences, frequently many of you are experiencing it as well.

This is one of my favorite illustrations, in a deck full of gorgeous and rich beauty.  I don’t know if it’s the soothing tone, the shading, the emotion, or simply the joy that is “literally” radiating (with glowingly bright rays of happy) out of the guy in the center.  Doesn’t matter.  It’s uplifting and the perfect way to help me get back on track.

“The High Lord of Gratitude and Service  ~  selflessness, humility, conscious action.

The High Lord of Gratitude and Service has arrived to help you find your purpose today.  Feeling gratitude for each moment you experience, and loving what is and what has been, will remind you that every breath you take holds a deep and profound awareness.  Through small actions and selfless service to another, you are automatically upon your highest path, whether you are immediately aware of it or not.  The presence of this Ally lets you know that you are on the correct path to fulfilling your desires.

You are also notified that your actions of service and attitude of gratitude* will yield riches beyond your wildest dreams, as long as those riches aren’t the goal you have in mind.

Giving service with no thought of return is what’s required of you today.  This would also be a good time to write a list reminding yourself of all the things in your life and the world around you that you have to be grateful for.

If your question for this situation refers to a relationship, let gratitude be your guide.  Be thankful for all you learn from this person.  Truly, there are no friends and no enemies, just teachers along life’s journey.  Be grateful for the laughter and even for the tears.  The attitude of gratitude is a magnet for true love in all forms.”

*The BOLD there was mine, I thought we should take note of this saying, and add it to our new box o’ wisdoms that Judy put together last night.  That I created and then posted, because really you guys, how could I not?!

Right, we won’t be doing the Challenger this time because I’m hearing that THIS is what we need to focus on.  (The idea here is another one we might consider putting up, getting out of our own heads.)  And how wild is it that I HAD this experience today!?  Ah yes, I adore the fun and festive way our Universe can be, even when it bites me in the ass and makes me pay attention.

On my quick stomp up and down the hills this afternoon before Dan had to head off to work, I was TRYING to be attentive.  I did see this, and it reminded me of the ones I saw yesterday.

Then I immediately saw another.  They came in all shades, this two-fer gray one, a bigger black long type, and a small white nearly as fluffy as this style, plus an unnaturally colored blue one.  NOT like Blue Jay blue but like artificial faux blue.  I also watched three kids with a skateboard.

They only had the one to share, and a jump rope.  None of these streets around here are very flat, what do you think they were doing with these items?  If you guessed pulling each other up, and letting each other go down,  you are correct.  They were VERY silly and having a wonderful time.  (Moms, they were probably older than 11 or so, not tiny kids unattended.  Entertaining, not scary to watch.)

Also from yesterday, I realized you never got to see the other two calendar pages.  Which, believe me, you’ll want to.  Out House!

Complete with crescent moon, in addition to some sort of decorative flower thingie.  (I believe those are massive lilac shrubs in the background as well, awesome.  I can not WAIT for lilac season to get here!)  And, another favorite . . . . . . Hawaii!

This one said it was a garden in the Poipu Beach Park.  Dammit but those islands ARE the absolute earthly embodiment of Paradise for me.

Finally,  here’s what I saw today when I got up, a phone photo from Empress.  She is still AWAY, but we are almost half-way through now!

With the message saying, “6 dollar dr martens at goodwill?  Yes  please!”  She is going up to see Han & Co tonight after her salon shift.  The scheduling changes at this point in the schooling, it appears, so there won’t be another option for her to come home before she’s done.  Honey Graham and I are NOT super happy about it, but we’ll survive.  He got lots of errands and chores done on his weekend, and just a few minutes ago delivered my Maximum Grand Dog back into my care and keeping.  See?

Purple friend and a nap.

He’s wearing a new sweater that Daniel just finished for him, using MY good cotton yarn.   (We’re gonna need more, I can just tell.)  Dan perfected this pattern finally, we think, and determined that all of those books he has are only mere suggestions, because Max is an oddly shaped dog.  Aren’t they all though?  Hmm, maybe just all of OURS are.

Foreign License Plate Report:  Just Nevada and Texas, and one that was either Indiana or Michigan.  Sad pickings really.

  1. Hello, purty lady.

I know this card. It is friendly. I’m taking a mid morning nap and wallowing in the decadence of it. Then I’ll repurpose myself. Snort.

I’ve been watching waaaaaaay too many home renovation and enviro-housing shows. Hence the use of repurpose. Wish I had money for a downpayment on a place of my own.

Anyhow – service does not just mean service outside to someone else who has less of what you have – be it time, resources or talent. It can also mean giving one’s existing work in service to greater good/Higher Power. That any action we take is acknowledged as being more than the action itself. Serve as best as you can in the situation that you are in.

I often lose sight of this idea (ideal) so the reminder is timely.

And y’all know my thoughts on gratitude. So yup, it’s a good idea.

    DOGGY!!!

And I wish I had oldskool Docs with the calf-high laces and orange stitching.

For the record, am okay. Moving along, sometimes smoothly, sometimes roughly.

    ~
One, SO very glad you checked in and assured us that you are well. Or ya know, relatively speaking. And B) I love the thought of repurposing ANYthing!

(Have I ever shared a picture of my tan Docs? Found them at a used place years ago for a STEAL of a bargain. Just wore them the other day and felt entirely recharged merely by having them on my wee hooves.)

    1. Can I nominate “Serve as best as you can in the situation that you are in” for the Wisdom of the Universe box? Love it!

Can. And did. It’s up. 😛

  2. OH MY DAYS SO CUTE!!!

    ~
Thank you, although I can’t take any credit. He is adorable though. And a delightful houseguest (okay maybe not with the stress pooping, but that’s fairly rare).

  3. I have a friend with GOLD Docs. One day I hope to be as badass awesome as she is. But I know I will fail miserably, alas. lol The card is great – that attitude of gratitude is easy for me to get, but can be a tough one to hold on to.Always good to have a reminder!

    ~
Oh Melle, you are SO that cool now!!!
And damn, I forgot to grab a pic of mine.

  4. “Attitude of Gratitude”…good thought. One of my guided imagery CD’s (a body scan/relaxation one if you’re curious) has a line ‘and take time to give thanks to your body, in spite of it’s alleged imperfections, for it’s steady service.” So I do. The card also speaks to me of living with intent, which is pretty important.

Here’s to the best finds for Doc’s! Yay for Max! Yay for 1/2 way done! Yay for lighter longer, which we’ll really accent next week. And no 50 bonus points for me….

    ~
I’m always curious, so thanks. Very cool about the CD!

  5. Xenatuba: You guys are up from 8:53 daylight hours (Dec. 21) to 11:19 current. We’re up to 11:25. I don’t know about you, but it would be nice to actually “see” the longer days (clouds, rain, snow…). And I don’t get 50 bonus points either…

“An Attitude of Gratitude” Definitely needed this reminder. I haven’t been writing my 5 things to be grateful for in my Gratitude Journal every day. Losing focus…

I don’t know anyone who makes doggy garments that is happy with any instructions or books that they have. It’s not you or your dogs. I think the people who do the books forget that dogs are like people – no two are alike.

And a side note: Eeeeek! We are under a wind advisory and I swear our house nearly attained lift off (we are on top of a hill). Holy crap! You know, we had a tornado nip through our back yard when my kids were little. So this rainy, high wind crap makes me twitchy. I’m being told to hang on till 4pm. Sigh. Going now…

    ~
We DID see the sun today! Wow, that’s a big difference in hourage (like mileage, only more timely). 😉

    Get to journaling!

Oh, well good to hear that it’s not us, because we just kept buying more books for him and the dogs, and he was STILL having to adjust shit. Whew, nice to know.

Stay safe!!! Becky tweeted last night that she would have to start communicating from the bathtub…. too close for comfort.

  6. Yes. Must remember to give thanks, often.
Love the sleepy pooch! So sweet.

    ~
Of course the camera (and his obnoxious Nana) wake him, but he IS a dog, so naps are not a problem for him. Also, he DID learn about going back to sleep from me. 😛

We do get our reminders exactly when we need them. I was thankful for the sunshine and Dan and the dog this afternoon.

  8. I’m grateful to be up and feeling well. Yesterday, Mother Menopause kicked my ass and showed me, she is still the boss, y’all. Hot flashes, then cold chills back and forth all day. My ovaries felt like tightly squeezed fists and I couldn’t keep anything down. All is calm today though. The sun is even shining. Yesterday we were in tornado warnings or watches almost all day with the wind howling. It was like the storm outside and the storm in my body were running parallel.
    Cute docs and cute dog.

    ~
You are a Weather Empath right now! So, continue to be careful. And stay nested where it’s safe.

  9. I am impressed with those mad sweater-making skills! I tried making my poor pooch a sweater once, and she was mortified beyond description.

    ~
Oh! But she wore those holiday antlers with pride!!! (Hmm, could have been shame, hard to say, she was a VERY stoic, and polite, girl.)

  10. The towns in Indiana that were destroyed were just 30 miles from us … I am so sorry for those who lost people they loved in the storms. I wish there was something else I could do as “service” besides cut a check to the Red Cross.

    ~
    GAH!!! WAY too damn close.

Also, you ARE doing more. You pray and have compassion, that DOES count. Because genuine caring and goodness is magically glow-y, you are like a beacon of LOVE, seriously. Not kidding. (I know it sounds funny, and jokey, but it’s not.)

  11. Aww…he’s all snuggly with his purple friend. Sorry you’re going to be without your Empress for the remainder of her training, but it’s a good opportunity and I’m sure she’ll be better off for it.

    ~
It is an AMAZING opportunity! And we could NOT have done this any other way (financially or time-wise) so we are tremendously thankful to the big box folks for helping her get this education. I hope it’ll be like that odd phenomenon where coming home feels as though it takes half as long as getting someplace, the last half will simply FLY by and before we know it, she’ll be home! And in a NEW home! 😀

Oh, and that cozy purple friend joined us again today, I sat down on the couch to read the paper. In like nanoseconds Max was in my lap with his buddy all tucked up next to us. There are other toys and plush characters around here, but this one seems to be his fave right now.

  12. Saw a commercial for volunteer work, and it showed the local botanical gardens, and I was thinking hmmm… well, this validates that urge, and I am going to do it! 🙂 I, too, soooo love the super-smiling, joy-radiating guy, lovely!

Oh, and the feather reminds me of something I forgot to mention about an earlier post, the one where you saw 2 black feathers sticking straight up out of the ground… I subscribed to a daily wish email for a while, one that gave a different tradition/myth of wish-making each day, and one of them was if you find a black feather, make a wish & stick it straight up/down into the ground. So, maybe those feathers were someone’s wishes.

Yay for lilacs, Hawaii (sigh), $6 Docs, and adorable napping doggies with cuddly friends & new sweaters!

    ~
    Volunteering anywhere is so worthwhile,
and if it’s a place you really love, sometimes they just hire you. (It happens.)

I have seen that once as well, those feathers sticking straight up out of the ground. Hmmm, hope it was someone’s wish and that by noticing I helped it to came true!

  13. I’ve been following that too…I will be eager to see how much daylight we get at summer solstice. I really don’t understand the switch to dst that we’re going to go through next weekend…but it does mean Julie gets extra daylight…I just get to go to bed before sundown in a few months. 😦

    ~
Is it back already?! Gah, I wish they would just stop doing that. Hmm, who do we contact to make that stupid go away?

    Sad, frowning face indeed.

  14. We started discussing the time change around here. I was always told it was to save energy. And did Benjamin Franklin really start this? So I wound up running around the internet. Did you know they are still fighting about whether or not to do this? Anyway, a good ‘one stop shop’ so to speak, is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time. They have a decent overview if you’re interested.

    ~
THANK YOU! On my way to learn more now. I am WAY interested!

Probably won’t make me any happier about it, but at least I’ll have the knowledge of why.
