It was a good news/bad news sort of day for me. And our Empress. She got stranded at work with crappy car issues. On the plus side, we have a back-up emergency vehicle right now (also shitty, but whatever). And tomorrow she’ll spend her off day dealing with it some more.
I always hate it when I can’t fix whatever is wrong! Instead, I was available to rescue her. Max and I went after pool time* and wandered the parking lot while she toiled away on another too-long day. New Dawn New Day. We’ll face it tomorrow, Scarlet.
*My class is getting recommendations! People are liking how I instruct so much that they’re bringing friends. It was SO crowded today that I had to teach half of it from the damn deck again. Wild, just amazingly wild.
Let’s look at something cheery then move on to our message. (This is my best advice when things go bad, distract!)
Max had a perfectly fine day, as you can see. I actually posed all of those garments around him, and he still didn’t move. He watched me, without raising his head. Then went back to sleep when I brought the camera out. He SO doesn’t care what type of bargains we found yesterday.
The bright blue item in the bottom right-hand corner is a fabulous new pair of swimming trunks for Dan. He also came home with that khaki-green sleeveless running shirt. (I can’t stand the fabric, but he likes it. Also, in this view, it looks a bit muddy-brown.) Mine are two tank tops (for biking, navy and purple) and a pair of aqua-with-white-piping shorts (draped across Max’s back).
Once I take that new belt-pack out for a spin I’ll let you know how I like it. We’d been info-gathering on such things for a while now, but didn’t think we could afford one that I didn’t hate. This one seems like it will be perfect, it’s like putting on a small set of pockets around my waist. I’m pretty excited for our next walk where we can take it for a test run.
“Salmon ~ Bradan (pronounced as Bratan) ~
Wisdom, Inspiration, Rejuvenation
The card shows a salmon leaping toward a hazelnut that is falling from one of the nine trees of wisdom which grow beside the sacred pool. The Ogham sign for Reed – Ngetal - is carved on one of the nuts hanging near the water.
Bradan is revered as extremely sacred in the Druid tradition – it is the Oldest Animal, and it offers us wisdom and inspiration. Often with great difficulty, the salmon will return to the place of its birth to mate. To find wisdom, we too need to recapitulate our lives, to journey in consciousness back to our beginnings – to our childhood and perhaps beyond to our very origins in God and Goddess. Bradan brings not only wisdom but youthfulness and inspiration, but remember that to find these things you must maintain an attitude of openness and innocence rather than strong-headed determination.
Drawn reversed, the card may indicate that you are trying too hard to reach your goals, or that you are relying on someone else to find your wisdom for you…. be more relaxed and open to life. The salmon is able to jump upstream not by fighting against the current, but by utilizing its knowledge of the reverse current which flows beneath the surface current. From this salmon leaping we have derived the word summersault, as a corruption of salmon-sault. Children summersault, and choosing this card – reversed or upright – is urging you to connect with the leaping dancing child within.“
Because this one talked about “reversed or upright” I included both direction definitions. Also, my SpellCheck is saying that we spell a forward roll as somersault. And, don’t forget, those nuts are called filberts!

From Yesterday:
we saw a guy with a lawnmower in the back of his small truck, it was being kept company by a plastic pink flamingo, both were bungee-ed in place for security. MOST amusing and entertaining!
