There was an unscheduled scheduling happen this afternoon. Had to have some dental work performed. Not quite an emergency, but not something that could wait either. No, I still don’t have my implants where that bridge broke off. (Don’t get me started on that bullshit ordeal.) This time it was a filling which needed to get done, fairly damn quickly.
Fortunately, someone else had canceled, so I got a prime spot. Only problem was, and again this is NOT unusual for me, the Novocaine took freaking FOREVER to wear off. As I sit here now, nearing 8 ish, it STILL hasn’t gone away completely. Liar-face damn dentist of mine. (Said with much love, obviously.)
On the plus side, my Wee Walnut now has its battery reconnected; it’s under the back seat cozily where it belongs again (no longer in the living room). I missed that car so very much, had to take it out for a zoom around the block. And of course, I brought my camera along. (!!!)
This poor mess, that view above, was in the road on my Route until early this morning. I hope there won’t be any more of those tree loses, it makes me sad to see it. Here’s something cheery though, it’s a new month (that’s not the cheery part, that’s a fact we can’t avoid). Which means we get a new out house and a new Hawaii page.
This is somewhere on the big island, apparently a beach with green sand. Never heard of it, but then, I never left Oahu, so I’m less than an authority on their geography (or whatever field sand and dirt fall in to). Doesn’t matter. It’s lovely. The out house wasn’t as picturesque, so I’m ignoring it.
On my busy family calendar there’s a cute group of, well here. You can see for yourselves.
It made me laugh when I saw our card. We’ve been very heavy on the wild life lately!
St Francis of Assisi
You have a strong love bond with animals. As with St Francis, they instinctively trust you. They can sense your compassion and understanding and come to you for help and companionship. You have an innate ability to communicate with animals, and you know what they are thinking and feeling.
In some ways, you feel more comfortable with animals than with people. You would excel in a career such as pet sitting, walking, or grooming; being a veterinarian; or animal communication. Your pets who have passed on also send you their love. They want you to know they are happy and doing well.
This saint is associated with nature and animals, and he is a patron saint of animal welfare. Legends say that he would give sermons in the forest, and the wild animals and birds would stop and listen.
St Francis was born in Assisi, Italy, in 1181. He renounced his family’s wealth and became a traveling preacher, with followers who eventually formed the first Franciscan religious order. He spent a considerable amount of time helping and healing the poor, particularly those with leprosy. The powerful prayer of St Francis, which begins, ‘Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,’ also makes him one of the most beloved saints.”
Please begin by removing or substituting any words that don’t work for you, because we are GONNA talk about this one, in depth. Done? Good, thanks.
Continuing on then, I don’t want anyone to say “oh I’ll just skip this one, it’s not for me.” Because that never fails to make me angry, and I’m already in a very bad mood right now (I lost my temper earlier, and it seems to have decided it’s not coming back any time soon).
Remember, every card is for everyone, in its own individual way. No, not all of us are going to chime perfectly with EVERY word or phrase. But, our messages come to us for specific reasons, and in various forms, so let’s give this one a chance. Okay? Thank you. (Really, do you actually want to argue with your radio? I didn’t think so.)
Taking the parts that work for us, and letting the rest go, can help a lesson ease into our lives, rather than just having it smack us on the head painfully. We’ve all had animals in our lives, at some point, even if they were merely the birds who show up seasonally or the neighbor’s pets who we only see in passing. The bigger aspect of this is that St Francis was a healer, and a helper of the less fortunate than himself.
Are we not the same? Are we not all trying to gain some level of betterment for ourselves and those around us? And haven’t we already learned that when we are feeling at our worst, we need to head out and be the hand another needs? Today, we can be like this man who cared for so many. We can either do it by actually communicating with the animals in our lives, or we can do it by communicating with the animals in our lives who have gone on to The Other Side, or we can do it by merely stepping outside at some point in the day and connecting with the sounds of nature.
We can even honor our message by looking for visible signs around us. A dove, like in the illustration, may make itself known to one of us in some physical form, other than that of a live flying bird. Or we may just sit quietly, in our own bit of yard (or parking lot) and simply rest for that ever-useful Three Minutes, casting our healing, loving energy darts out into the world.
Just, whatever you do, DON’T fucking say that this one isn’t for you. My head is thisclose to bursting into flames, no one, not one of you, wants Dan to innocently get charred or singed purely because he’s sitting next to me.
