Seeing Small.

There was walking today.  Lots and lots of walking.  We had several errands and this trudge on our list of things to do.  The first stop was moderately successful.  (Do you have ANY idea how freaking difficult it is to find sheets that fit a double-sized, old-fashioned water bed?!  He’ll be a-googlin’ like a mad man tonight, I can assure you.)   Then I bashed by head.   I know.  I know, I KNOW!

The walk was actually pretty great, and I’ll show you how it went in a sec, but let me explain this part first.  So, I bashed my head.  Then we marched for just about 7 miles, then we still had to pick up a few things for dinner and for the week.  By the time we’d wandered the grocery aisles I had a serious headache.  Now, we’re home and I’ve taken my Trifecta of Pain Relief.  Waiting for it to work.  This is about all I can manage, so here ya go.

The very first thing we saw, barely out of the parking lot, was this tiny piece of jewelery.  We didn’t touch it, just took its picture and kept going.   Our determination of the symbolic meaning?  Beauty.  Our day would be exquisitely pretty.  And it was.

This path is a winding road, around marshes, the big river, ponds, and several slough-type areas.  Less than a mile in we spotted that heron you can (hopefully) see above, then another one, and then a third.  Every time I see big birds like this it’s in 3s – for my kids.

Not a doll's head.

As we neared our halfway point (and the bridge crossing) there was this bench.  Along the route there are several, many in better condition than this one.  But we were leaving behind the more park-like setting and arriving in the more hobo-esque section.  I was slightly bothered by the trash I was seeing here, but in someone else’s head another bit of information was playing out.  That item on the seat is NOT a noggin of any sort, plastic nor human.  Even though SOME people might think that’s what it looked like from afar.

Pedestrians, cyclists, and runners are being detoured and informed near this info center.  It’s a huge local project, and it apparently needs huge signs and info centers.

Like this one too.  I’ve wanted to stand in this exact location for months and months.  Today we did.  It was delightful.  (Except for the headache.)

Our message could not have been more perfect for this outing.

“The Ringmaster of Scrutiny  ~  9  ~  discernment, clear vision, details.

The Ringmaster of Scrutiny is all about the details.  Look closely and pay attention to the smallest elements of what is being presented to you on your path.  It is in these details, not the broad strokes, that you will find the breathtaking beauty and perfection in what you observe.

This Ally is on your side to point to the deeper meaning of what unfolds in your life, and he reminds you that every moment counts.  Staying present in this perfect moment, observing the minute things, leads you to manifest your highest good and greatest desires.  Grand gestures are for other times.  It’s the smallest acts that really count now.”

Be in your own special moments right now, listen to this card.  Because let me tell you, this is an amazingly profound and enriching gift.   Welcome it into your life with open arms.

Tomorrow I’ll show you our Foreign License Plate Report and tell you about finishing the Beck book.  But right now I have to turn everything off for a while and let my trio of analgesics do their job.

As We Gather In The Winter.

It’s moments away from our family celebration, so I must type fast.  (For dinner we landed on Thai, a place J.D. wanted me to try, so I’ll report in with the results of that as well as how the festivities go.)

Daniel and I took a moment earlier today to get outside in the lovely winter sunshine.  And we saw a super creative and original decoration that I couldn’t wait to share.

Can you see the santas hiding in the that bamboo?  Adorable!

As we went through the park (you know how I love the park), we came across another Fork In The Road, and Dan asked why they were showing up (or rather, why I was noticing them).  It’s like the feathers, they are obvious for a reason.  We noticed, and acknowledged the feathers, because they symbolized air, thoughts, ideas winging around in the sky just as the birds had done who left them for us.

These are telling us to be aware of opportunities, options, and choices.  We always have another way to go, another path to select.

Now let’s see what our card has to say.  It seems very heavy on the Doreen-isms this time, so keep that in mind, sub as go along.

“Believe  ~  St Hildegard of Bingen  ~

To heal and improve this situation, it’s important for you to believe.  Have faith in miracles, the power of God’s healing love, and the essential goodness within people.  This is an important factor in determining the outcome of this situation.

St Hildegard of Bingen demonstrated that to bring God’s message to the world, you must believe in yourself.  You are qualified.  You are ready and prepared.  You can do it.

This saint overcame tremendous self-doubt and became a multi-talented author, musician, and healer.  This was especially remarkable, considering that women in her era (1098-1179) weren’t expected to accomplish worldly deeds.  Born the tenth child in her family, she was sent to live in a convent in order to reduce her parents’ financial burdens.

Hildegard began having spiritual visions as a young child, and she was eventually called upon to write books about them.  She overcame tremendous self-doubt about her literary skills and later wrote, ‘but although I heard and saw these things, because of doubt and low opinion of myself and because of diverse sayings of men, I refused for a long time a call to write.’  St Hildegard is also known for orchestrating rich musical chants and for her two books on bringing about physical health by using items found in nature.”
