Spiritual Administration.

One of the very first posts I wrote for this blog, about a million more than five years ago (or has it been six now?) had to do with words I like the sound of.  An example: Pea Patch Island.  Not necessarily a great place, but the name is phonetically pleasing to me.

Everyone already knows of my overfondness for alliteration and verbosity.  Why use two words when you can use 17, at least five of which sound alike?  Well, last night we were watching THIS SHOW (which I like for far too many unexplainable reasons) when I heard a native man (in an interview* with Jeremy) pronounce piranha.  It sounds like:

pee-RAWN-yah, and I can’t stop shouting it at Dan.

*There were hand-motions too, but I haven’t figured out how, without a video, to describe them adequately enough to do the entire production justice.  Maybe just watch this particular episode and look for that doctor who does the autopsy.

Um, yeah.  That’s just one reason why patience is so highly valued around here.  Also?  We went to a dollar store.  Again, I enjoyed my childish self elf FAR too much.  (Every time we walk into one of these places, I am reminded of the fact that I LOVE them [in all of their trashy glory], and yet, once I’m NOT there, it falls right out of my head.)

dollar store finds

Yes, I bought a basket,
and filled it.

Do you see something pink, plastic, and tropical bird-like peeking out?  Tomorrow I’ll show you who they are.

Because we were out late, I’m feeling rushed.  We need to move right along to our daily draw.  But ya know, in a nice relaxed-but-still-expedient way.

angel messages

“Stress Management  ~

Guardian Angel

Your angels are working with you to reduce the impact of stress.  Pay close attention to your Divine guidance, such as thoughts or feelings about taking a rest, exercising, changing your routine, and avoiding conflict.  You need to both reduce stress in your life and manage the way it’s affecting you.

To lessen this burden, you will need to be assertive with people and say no to unwanted requests.  Don’t do anything out of guilt or obligation, and only engage in activities that you can perform out of loving service.  Avoid harsh environments, violent media, and negative relationships, Face any situations that are worrying you head-on.  It’s better to make plans for dealing with problems, rather than deal with chronic worry by avoiding them.

Managing stress involves taking excellent care of yourself.  This means exercising, getting outside in nature, and consuming only healthful foods and beverages.  Your angels also guide you to surround yourself with uplifting music, flowers, and loving relationships (which can definitely include your pets).

Give any cares or needs to your guardian angels, and ask them to help you receive Divine wisdom in dealing with any stressful matters.  Your angels will also help you see the love and light within in each situation so that your thoughts are peaceful.”

Oldest and youngest again, with companions.
(Em has Indi and Jade has Maxx.)

They are driving south right now, heading home.  From what I have heard, it was a delightful success.

Today’s Mileage:

turned out to be a nice ride.  There was only a 20% chance of rain predicted, but the cloudcover was low, dark, and ominous all afternoon.  Fortunately, not one drop fell on our heads for the entire 11.773 miles, pedaling time of one hour, fifteen minutes, 58 seconds, averaging 9.2 MPH.  HERE is Dan’s map.

(I love this so damn much)!

Thank you Mick,  more than I can say.  Is this a share-able item that you made?  Special?  Because if it is, you are even cooler than we all thought.  (And that’s already pretty damn cool.)

Forced Feeding, plus … we wait.

Yesterday’s plan had been that Daniel and Empress would meet J.D. for sushi.  Grand.  I got to stay home with the dogs.  I am SO good with that.  Well… Axel’s sudden medical needs and recovery (plus a work related incident of my son’s) took precedent.  So the majority ruled.  Crap needed to be discussed, family crap.  Apparently I am a necessary member of the family.  Fine.  The texts started pouring in.  And every single one, I am NOT exaggerating, from my son ended with “and Salmon.”

They wore me down.  I went with them for dinner.  And had Salmon.  We are notoriously odd, and in public, it’s worse.  (I like to think that I am friendly and amusing.  My children think that I am needy and high maintenance.  Potay-to, potah-to.)  This young man found us entertaining.      He kept me safe from all onions.  He was wonderful, in my humble opinion.  (He also has eyelashes that every woman I know, and a few men, would sell their soul for.)  As a Public Service, I remind you to please treat your wait staff with kindness.  They have a very difficult job, especially when customers are forcibly made to eat a meal in their establishment.  Even if it includes salmon.   (Thanks Gethin, you were awesome!)

In dog news, Our Grim continues to heal and feel more like himself.  His wrappings have come off and he is resting comfortably next to me.  I thought I would take a moment to tell you about how he got his name.  He came to us at around two years old (see my comments from the other day to Merry about why we can’t determine his exact date of birth.)  And with a moniker (something like Lachlel Von Rochelsomething) that no one on this continent could pronounce (may I buy a vowel Alex?), so we changed it slightly.

All the years we were growing up my brother said he would have two boys and name them Levi and Axel.  Well, he has two girls, and their names are Holly and Nikki.  Since he was never able to use those fine names, I honored him by suggesting one for the new dog.  This fabulous canine went into his working career with the zippy title of Axel Von Rocket.  So no, he is not named after anyone in particular and not after anyone famous who plays a guitar.            Emmy was apparently rolling around on the floor this afternoon, unsupervised with my camera.       There were over FIFTY new photos of dogs in there!         Did she think we didn’t have enough shots of Scooter?!

Last night Dan was over there (ya know, over there to my left) and he found a stray piece of candy.  Score!  He was very excited by this discovery, it still had plastic on it, even better, as he said, “no fear of pocket lint!  Ha!  Jul, tweet that why dontcha!”  I blogged it instead Beloved, practically as good.

Also, I wanted to let JulieLanders know that I have been doing some more updating.  There are new links in the Important categories, and another wee pentacle factoid I have added.  (What else do you want to see in Pentacle People?  More People or more Pentacles?)

In my garage office I turned over my own personal card for the week the other day.  I have shared a couple of these with you before, but when I got to OUR card, I thought you’d want to see this one, for its message as well as illustration.         And then for our daily bit of wisdom from the card altar we have one from Colette’s Hidden Realms.        ” The Resting Tree  ~  patience, stillness.

The Resting Tree is a sign for you to stop focusing and planning and be at peace in the moment.  This is the representative of nonaction and relaxation.  Patience is the key to being with this Ally.

The Resting Tree asks you to slow down, sit back, and watch the roses bloom and the birds feed in the meadow.  This is not the time to forge ahead in any way.  You may not be taking enough breaks or resting, so you are invited to be still and contemplate your good fortune, even if it means blessing the chaos in your life.  This is a sign to allow everything to fall away except the stillness of the moment; it is like living within the space between breaths.

When The Resting Tree appears, it signals that you have done all you can for now and it is time to unwind and allow your story to unfold of its own accord.  You have earned the right to rest, pause, and relax.  Amazing ideas will come if you do.  Remember the ancient saying: we do without doing and everything gets done.”

Pop Tarts + New Toaster x Me = Bad.

I was going to tell you all another Dan & Julie story, but I had a household injury, yet another incident.  With the new gawdamn toaster.  So I can’t type very well tonight.  Instead I am going to show you a picture of the new purse Daniel bought me when we were at the coast.  Five dollars!  The girls said it was ugly, and had a bad shape.  But I liked it, and the pattern on that carpet-bag material has seashells on it.  Also, I needed one.

  Yesterday’s foreign license plates were:

Texas, Alberta (Canada again Lynne!), and Illinois.

Our card today is from the Archangel Oracle deck.  And hopefully it will help me while my fingertips heal, or the skin grows back.  Because honestly, the ice cubes, lavender oil, anesthetic/antiseptic wash and trifecta of pain relief ain’t really cuttin’ it so far.

“Patience  ~  Archangel Jophiel:  Your dreams are blooming more rapidly than you realize.  Still, they need nurturing and patience.

It takes time for a seedling to push through the ground and mature into a flower-baring plant.  Yet, each moment of a plant’s life cycle can bring joy to those who notice its beauty.  In the same way, enjoy the process of realizing your dreams.  Slow down and feel gratitude, as each step brings your manifestation into tangible form.  Notice the lessons and love that spring from every moment that you engage in acting upon your dreams.

Jophiel helps us experience more grace and peace in our lives through slowing down and noticing the beauty that already surrounds us.  She asks us to savor and enjoy each moment, rather than hinging our happiness on some future goals.  Call upon her anytime you feel rushed, stressed, or unhappy.  She will increase your awareness and appreciation of life’s everyday miracles.”

Also, I have sent out a bunch of forwarded e-mails tonight.  Dan Savage is doing a YouTube campaign that is totally worth looking at.  It was started after a teenager committed suicide last week.  Hanna is posting about it today.  I can’t even discuss it because it just breaks my heart and makes me cry.
