Gear Switching, literally as well as metaphorically.

Last night Corina shared a link with us that blew my mind (in a figurative sense, obvs, and led me off on a VERY long trail of more sites and more links and more information).  And I had planned on talking about it.  I will, but not yet.  Instead I need to tell everyone about how my day went.  Because it was NOT what I thought it was going to be like.  At.  All.

For one thing, it’s raining.  Not that this matters much to the story, but in a way it’s a minor player.  Here’s the deal, I have increased the bike rides due to my not-losing-weight situation (most days doubling up with other activities).  They are quicker and take less preparation than trudges do.  Every day since we’ve been back (with maybe one or two exceptions) I’ve gone on my 5 mile Route.  On every one of those days I’ve been asking my want-y self elf “why don’t I have toe baskets?”

Like these.  Because I was thinking they’d help keep my feet on the pedals.  Turns out, they don’t actually do* what I wanted them to.  But, also turns out, that wasn’t the point.  There are LOTS of businesses here locally to choose from if one requires bicycle assistance, parts, info, or just something to ride.  There are two close to The Burrow.  I got the items in one place (thank you, very nice young woman who searched in the back room for me and found what I needed) but ended up having them attached in another.

*They DO help somewhat, but not the way I thought they would.  I’ve found that pushing with my toes gives me another “level” or gear when I get tired and need that extra boost to sprint justonemoretime.

Installed,
and super spiffy.

My plan had been to run a few errands (Wee Walnut being my mode of transportation) and then come home to pedal off some flab (that’s me, eternally hopeful).  But sadly my Specialness prevented the delightful young man at the counter from knowing what was required.  He suggested I just bring everything in.  Good call, Alex.  (Seriously, I found out later that his name is Alex.)

I went home.  Changed clothes.  And rode back.  In the rain.  Like I fucking cared.  I was so damn tired of WANTING this accessory, that I just didn’t give a shit any more.  Weather?  Who even notices?  Ride extra miles?  Sure, apparently I do that now.

Paul’s Bicycle Way Of Life is not a company I’d ever done business with.  Because ya know, I didn’t Bicycle!  Now I do.  And they are WAY handy.  Not only that but the folks who were working in the shop today (Tom, and the aforementioned Alex) were AWESOME!  In particular though, was Anna.  My new BFF.  She was friendly, competent, efficient, kind, capable, patient, talented, adorable (!!!), and (wait for it……..) she lives in my neighborhood.  She’s seen me ride by!  Recognized my ratty-assesd hand-me-down two-wheeler!   And, in TRULY Eugene Uniqueness, she is a friend-of-a-friend.

There are not enough compliments I can toss at these people (ANNA!!!).  So I’ll just show you one more picture, and leave it at that.

Mobile Mermaiding.

Anna put this on for me.  I am now well hydrated, and able to go even farther than I could before.  Also, I used that hilariously horrible bag-made-from-a-hooded-sweatshirt to conveniently (even if not so stylishly) carry my belongings today.   Moral of my tale?  When you hope for a beautiful and interesting day, be prepared to have one.  And enjoy every freaking moment of it.  Even if it ends up being totally different than you had imagined or even presumed to plan.

Let’s get to our daily draw and Daily Dog, I’m very hungry and need to be done here so I can have my salad.

“Tumbled Stones  ~

rainbow healing  ~

Today marks the start of a new beginning; a new way of looking at life and the world around you.  Be it in dreams or through beautiful rainbows, you are being infused with light and blessings.  Relax!  Surrender your concerns to the universal light of love and allow this wondrous healing to occur.

You will soon find that others are attracted to you.  Many will come and seek your help and advice for you are a beacon of light unto all.  In the near future you will empower others with your love and wisdom as you help them see their inner light and beauty.  You are a natural born healer who heals through the power of love.”

Wow, that was cool!  I hadn’t looked at the guidebook before I sat down here, so it was sort of a surprise.  The Rainbow Healing is especially nice.  And isn’t it just a great validation of what we were talking about before?  New starts and advancements of all types.  Our next “cycle” is absolutely going to be a good one.

Come in, Nana!

While I was gone, this guy “helped” cut down some of that tall grass.  (Or maybe he just stayed safely on the deck, and sometimes in the living room on the couch.)

Crystal Oracle by Toni Carmine Salerno

Tomorrow we’ll discuss that body type breakthrough.   Because, truly, dated or not, finding out about this has made a huge difference in how I’m viewing my entire project and weight-loss prospects.

Sometimes lessons are painful.

You guys!  Yesterday we forgot to wish Isadora Duncan happy birthday!  Dammit, I am totally to blame.  The date was written down on my fine old, ratty-ass, used envelope right here, it just didn’t make it into the post.  So, we recognize her day of birth 24 hours later, but still, festively, and with much warmth.

Back to now, as in, today we went to the pool.  Ah….. salty, slightly chlorinated, über warm water…..  I feel much rejuvenated.  Which is good, because the earlier part of the day was rotten.  I’m seriously working on becoming all complete and shit.  But so far, the only observations I’ve come up with are not-positive emotions/senses.  I mean, that’s good too, I’m NOTICING.  So, improvement.  The WHAT of it though, not so great.

Let’s  look at Max, then get on with our card.  He had to stay home while Dan and I were out, but tomorrow he’ll have more front yard time.  Our erranding list is very small.

Lookin’ good
in a cotton sweater.

The weeds sort of exploded while we were gone;  some string-trimming will be the order of the day.  Before our walk/food gathering expedition (or whatever we end up deciding to do in the way of movement).

On the rotation du jour, we’ve come around to an engagingly fascinating animal, which falls under the category of

Earth Dwellers:

Mouse, Porcupine, Badger, Scorpion, and Fox.

These messengers make their homes within the safe, secure, and embracing element of the earth itself, and counsel that you too should remain grounded.  If material anxieties and worries are dominating your mind, they advise that you pay attention to what is truly important – your family, your true friends, your partner, and nature.

Earth-dwellers counsel that you reconnect with the wild world, even if this is as ephemeral as walking in a city park.  The grass may be manicured, the earth trodden hard, but beneath the surface worms and insects work tirelessly to renew the soil and its touch beneath bare feet can stabilize you, even when much seems lost.”

“Porcupine  ~

You may defend yourself honorably without hurting those close to you.

Porcupine trusts in the world.  Individual but unterritorial she shares her dens, her favorite verdant pastures, and is rewarded with plenty.  But when trust is broken Porcupine defends herself fiercely with barbed quills, causing even Tiger to defer.

Like Porcupine, share your bounty with others, be it material or emotional, and discover that it returns to you tenfold.  Trust in others while not hesitating in defense and you too will garner the respect that Porcupine commands and the happiness you deserve.”

See a pattern here?  I did, too.  More than one, in fact.  Good ideas that I feel strongly about, convictions I’m attached to.  Living genuinely with trust, being compassionate/sharing on all levels, and standing our ground, all are honest and positive ways to, not just survive, but to thrive.

Unexpected interruption and delay.  Stand by, while I wait for the stars to clear from my vision.  I just went upstairs to check on a load of laundry and bashed my right hand soundly in to the back corner of a chair.

Sturdy, go-nowhere piece of furniture vs the overly-sensitive and super-thin skin on the back of my hand = huge pain, and potentially a broken blood vessel, absolutely some massive bruising, swelling is already evident.  I’ve applied the magical blue stuff, smacked my Beloved in the arm (don’t ask, it just happens when I’m injured), and taken the Trifecta of Pain Relief.  But, I’m done for the night.  Grim pictures and medical updates tomorrow.

Animal Messages – Seek Inspiration From Your Animals Guides by Susie Green

LateNight Crafty Goodness:

another picture I just came across, of the fabric we got on our latest adventure.

Might turn into a bag,
might not.

Here is the shop website.  Wonderful people, I hope we can visit them again next time we head that direction.

Learn it as it arrives, plus Worth and Worthiness.

The mixed and often warped way we address, feel about, view, and honor/dishonor, ourselves is still with me.   (Would we say those things to a friend or loved one?  Would we allow that type of treatment to someone we cared about?  Like that.)  It went away, but then it came back.  And what Ally said in yesterday’s comments made me think about it even more.  Remember when we talked about how a card might not FEEL as though it was for us?

One of the Universal Laws that I’ve been shown is about facing the things we need to learn the most from.  “Fear” is not a reaction I am comfortable with.  I don’t use the word and I don’t relate* to it.  Which means, for the higher evolution of my soul work, I should address this when it is presented.  As with part of the definition on the card for Rabbit, it said to let go of fears.  That didn’t immediately ring true for me, but then when I turned it another way, allowing fear to seem like possibly another, more immediate and familiar emotion, it chimed much louder.

*The only “fear” I will acknowledge is of those damn overflowing toilets, hence the adoration of out houses.

It nearly always comes back to food obsessions with me, and the letting go of excess weight, letting go of the hang-ups and wrong thinking, letting go of the negative self-image, letting go in the most simple of all terms as far as body systems goes.  I was the oldest (and most called-upon) child in a generationally dirt-poor family run by a needy mother and a hard-working (albeit fun-loving), Marine drill sergeant father, the overall IDEA of fear is purely and genetically unattractive, EXCEPT if I aimed it at the compulsions I deal with around body issues and weight situations (or maybe it’s just food in general, hard to diagnose and chase down most times).

My point (!!!) is that when we are called to the carpet, made to pay attention, it is GOOD for us!  We need to face these situations and signs, and then do something about getting past them and learning how to NOT repeat them.  Unendingly and incessantly!

Today’s message gives options, along with the usual Doreenisms.  I believe that these signs come to us so we can learn, and when we ignore or shove them aside we’re just ASKING for them to come back in a stronger, more severe (less positive) way.

“Child  ~ Guardian Angel

This is a multifaceted answer that depends upon your particular situation.  Here are the possible meanings behind your selection of this card (your intuition will tell you which answer applies to you):

1.  Be as a child.  Have a childlike faith that everything will work out for the best, and it will.

2.  A child will soon be coming into your life.

3.  Pay attention to your child or to a particular child in your care.

4.  Help children in general through education, advocacy, healing, etc.

5.  A child in Heaven is happy and doing well, and is sending you a message of love.

The purity and innocence of children gives them an angelic quality and earns them special attention from Heaven.  Your prayers for the little ones are given high priority, and are always answered.  This card is a message that you are being used as an Earth Angel on behalf of children.  The angels will help you in this endeavor if you will ask for their assistance and guidance.”

(Short side-note, she said something other than “etc” but it’s a phrase that irritates me, so I substituted.  We can do that here, it’s a positive and harmless way to make life more appealing.)

She doesn’t say this, but I will, we are not limited to just one choice here.  As with other definitions, there will often be several parts of the reading that drops in to place.  At least one though, always at least one.

On to weather news, because that has a huge impact on our lives right now.  It did stay cold and it did freeze up many parts of town.  Here is the phone photo I sent Empress when we got up today.

(The beauty of this vista is ruined by that hideous black mat-like atrocity.  Daniel is concerned that he, our paper guy, or the fabulous grinning mail man, will slip on the deck, so he tossed that ugly covering out there.  I hate it.  Really, can NOT stand seeing it.  Here, or in real life.  But ya know, I’m not in charge of SAFETY!)

And up close, here in the shot below, is what was left of the hail and snow in our yard (although I noticed that after Dan left, and I was heading out to the pool, there was a fairly decent sized heap past the end of where he parks his patrol car).

The weather guessers are saying that it will come back again tonight.  Which should make my bike ride tomorrow seriously festive!

Last item of business, a bit of exciting news, on an idea I wasn’t even sure would fly.

Right,  I should have cropped that one, but I’m still not able do it here, I’d have to switch computers and struggle along trying to figure out/remember HOW! Did not happen this time, not likely to happen next time either. Can you tell what is in that picture though?

It’s my version of the Five Dollar Savings Plan. On a square gold-colored ceramic plate, with my brass bell from Seattle (for money calling) next to it. Collecting, containing, and holding the bills for us is a two liter (fizzy water) bottle. That we can’t get in to unless we cheat and cut a hole. The fives actually add up fairly quickly. That represents all of January and February.  (I don’t have a clue what we’ll do with the money we’ve saved, so don’t ask.  Probably pay bills.  We’re exciting that like.)
