My Hurricane and I had a conversation last night. Okay, technically it wasn’t so much a two way, back and forth, discussion as it was her telling me what was wrong with this blog (from a marketing stand point, she does make her living working with websites now). For one thing, as my daughter sees it, I talk too much (well, duh, where does she think she gets that particular trait? Honestly, did she just meet me last week?), and she believes it is too messy/cluttery here (I repeat, duh). Also, she pointed out that my links are inconsistently labeled (can I say duh three times in a row simply to stress this? Because really it fits so well, she knows what a chronically inconsistent person I can be).
I can not change the very core of who I am (as much as I do strive for improvement in many areas), so the words are going to appear. She read the first post, where I declare this The World According to Me, and Me is quite verbose, not likely I will become LESS wordy anytime soon. (And to hammer home this point just a wee bit more, SHE is the one who suggested I start a blog in the first place because I had so much to say, and she was very complimentary in expressing that what I had to say might be worthwhile to others.)
Point two: the mess. Why yes, I have added all manner of interesting and insightful tid-bits. I like having stuff around me, and this, as she well knows is MY blog, so it stands to reason that I would want stuff all over this place too. From a marketing stand point, this site is way too busy (not to mention personal and absurdly non-focused). However, I am not marketing anything! I am merely sharing the shit I have learned and telling the stories of my life. That won’t ever change.
I will grant her the third aspect, those links could be maybe a smidge more clear. Fine, Brilliant Child o’ Mine, I will now (or relatively soon) attempt to polish them up with some clarity. (Ah ha ha, but hey, in order to do that, I will have to type more words! Hopefully when she’s not looking, I could even sneak in some more un-tidy crap, toss a few more Mom-ism around.)
(A disclaimer in her favor though, she is also [painfully] aware of the fact that I really should be trying to market myself here. Card readings, life lessons, and past life details, as well as Guided messages, are skills and talents that I often times make trades for. I have received payment for these types of exchanges for over 25 years now, so she isn’t entirely off base on that front.)
And speaking of earning my keep, it was another day in the land of retail for me. Our mall hours have officially been extended for the holidays. Since I have hired some very helpful folks, I am not ever there for the early morning openings. Which leaves me to cover many late night closings though.
Do you ever shop until nine or ten on a Sunday night? Or until eleven any other day? Neither does anyone else. This is my view out one end of the kiosk. No shoppers, only some phone dudes.
And this is the view from the other side. Again, you will notice the lack of “guests” in this shot. If you look real closely though you might be able to spot the nice young man pushing a janitorial cart around. Yeah, consumerism is ridiculous.
Our card, that I yanked over right before I headed out the door, is from Colette’s Wisdom of the Hidden Realms deck. I liked that it talked about how we view our Truth. Appropriate for what I thought about today and shared here.
“The Dream Walker ~ dreams, the collective good, illusions.
When the Dream Walker is your Ally, dreams really can and do come true. Still, there are two kinds: those of the small Self and those of the Divine. Spirit has a dream for you that is yours alone, and all you need to do is ask and it will unfold like magic.
You also play an important and unique part in the Divine dreaming of the world. When you ask ‘is this the dream for me that serves the greater dream?’ the most beautiful vision for your life serves the highest good for others too. Just the act of asking will immediately provide the answer.
The Dream Walker is beside you to help you move effortlessly through the illusions, observing the Truth, and celebrating the waking dream of your life that results.”
