Tools and Tricks.

Last night (okay fine, this MORNING) as I was falling asleep, I knew precisely what today’s post would be about.  Then when I got up, I was curious as to how our card would reflect that idea.  Wow.  The Universe continues to make me laugh.

My topic is the concept of “triggering” (and how it relates to me, obviously).  Again we are talking about a primary and most basic skill, like yesterday’s math.  But now it’s about comprehension of a different variety.  We are all individuals, so our brains all work at individual types of levels.  Mine continues to entertain me.

I’ve known that word trigger, and I’ve used it conversationally (in both of its guises) for decades.  But until just this week, the actual application to me, in MY head, was not entirely clear.  Now it is.  And I’m figuring out how to turn those images and ideas back around without (physically as well as emotionally) dropping into a fetal position and losing an entire day to the process.

The usage of guided meditation is helpful (as I have perhaps mentioned lately, like 7 gazillion times), in the big picture.  But mantras and affirmations are becoming my go-to gadgets for precise and specific moments of relapse.  (Currently I have “Walk in Beauty ~ Live in Love“ written [on various scraps and bits] all over the damn house.)

This realization, this dawning of knowledge, is massive for me.  Any device or mechanism I can utilize that will keep me from spiraling downward, tumbling and falling rapidly off the rails, is a freaking gift and a blessing.  And I’m gonna hang on to that sucker for dear life.  Because ya know what?  My dear life MIGHT just depend on it at some point.

In our card altar room tonight the joke is on us.  Or rather, we are encouraged to laugh at this absurd fucking life.  It’s the ONLY way to deal with it, as I am gradually finding out.

“Coyote  ~  13  ~  Trickster

There are thousands of myths and stories about Coyote, the great trickster.  Many native cultures call Coyote the ‘Medicine Dog.’  If you have pulled this card, you can be sure that some kind of medicine is on its way – and it may or may not be to your liking.  Whatever the medicine is, good or bad, you can be sure it will make you laugh, maybe even painfully.  You can also be sure that Coyote will teach you a lesson about yourself.

Contained within trickster medicine is the humor of the ages.  The cosmic joke is not just on ourselves but on everyone else, if they are following Coyote or have strong Coyote medicine.

Go immediately beneath the surface of your experiences.  Ask yourself what you are really doing and why.  Is Coyote your medicine?  Are you playing jokes on yourself?  Are you trying to fool an adversary?  Is someone tricking you?  When was the last time you did something just because it was crazy and fun?

If you can’t laugh at yourself, you have lost the game.  Coyote always comes calling when things get too serious.  The medicine is in laughter and joking so that new viewpoints may be assumed.”

I’ve condensed this one because it’s pretty long, but I also feel as though we should include some of the upside-down guidance too.

“Contrary:

If Coyote appears in the reversed position, you can be assured that he is going to be challenging.  Look around yourself and watch which direction he is coming from.  If Coyote is approaching you from the outside, beware of this master of illusion…..

Contrary Coyote may signal a time when everything you touch backfires.  In this reversed position, Coyote also signals a time to be aware of the intention of others, and to look for the boomerang you threw at another person coming back to knock you from behind.  Someone else’s trick may be on you, or there could be deception in the wind.  Whatever Coyote reversed has conjured up, it could be coming from any direction.”

The number is significant on this one, too.  As 13, it is mysterious and mystical and wonderfully lucky.  Added down to 4 it reminds us that we always have a nicely stable foundation.  No matter what weather is thrown at us, our hut will NOT be blown over.  (But even if it is, we’ll be fine.)

Today’s Most Current Look:

is now my updated icon and gravatar photo.  But I had to put it here too; when we switch these out, the old ones disappear (and I liked that former view of me with the bike, as I will probably like this one once it gets replaced).

Yeah, it was sunny today.

My hair is growing so fast that we may need to document this every few weeks.

Today’s and Yesterday’s Kitchen Adventures:

are from last night when I was slightly ambitious, and hungry.

And then this afternoon, after some outside time (and lilac stealing), we were back at it again.  (Gawd I’m enjoying our fully operational range.)

We got that first batch in the oven.  Staring at the mixing bowl full of dough, Maxx and I decided we really just didn’t have that kind of time.  So I smooshed it all into a baking dish.  We called them bars and moved on with our day.

Triumph Tricks and Tools.

We’re going to begin tonight’s post with a Share.  Because it’s uplifting and hopeful (you know how I cling to hope).  And I’ve had a delightful day so I want everyone else to have one too.

It comes to us from our very own Karen Buys, who received it in an e-mail, which started HER day off on a positive note.

In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.  It is then
burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.  We should
all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.  -
Albert Schweitzer, philosopher, physician, musician, Nobel laureate
(1875-1965)

Isn’t that cool?  We are those sparks for someone else, and we know that there’s always going to be a spark out there for us when our fire begins to go out.   I’m not much for quotes from famous folks, but this one is fabulous.   Thanks KB, for passing it along and thinking of me, you are a tremendously generous  (and sparkly bright!) friend.

In recent comments, there was mention of some similar struggles, difficulties like mine, people remarking of a stuck feeling.  In my own challenges, what I’ve found that works REALLY well, is removing my saddened (and sure, I’ll admit it, pathetic) self elf from my own mind and body.  Guided meditations!  On CD.

The ones I’ve found (in the house! as well as around town) have been wonderful.  Each recording has a different theme, the set from Sylvia Browne (that was given to me years ago) focuses on temples and healing centers on the Other Side.  Halls of Nature and Learning, big buildings and sanctuaries that we can all access from the comfort of our own homes.  The premise is that in the SummerLands (or Heaven, or whatever you call that place where-we-all-go-and-from-which-we-came) there are destinations.

(If this is a concept that makes you uncomfortable then you should probably just skip ahead to the next topic.  I’m gonna talk about healing and traveling, while relaxing with your feet up.  Why?  Because I KNOW it works and helps.  I’ve done it for years, and more recently, I’ve been doing it nearly every day for over a month.)

Does it CURE depression?  No.  Does it shove it back and keep it at a safe and manageable distance?  Absolutely!  Get any one* of these that you can lay your hands on.  Go to your local library, head to a new-age shop near you, order from any of the tons of on-line places that are just a google or a bing away (Hay House is a nice safe place to start).  Doesn’t matter where you get them, just, for gawdsakes, find yourself a CD!

*The correct title and type of meditation will speak to you, you will know which one is right for your situation.  Don’t question the choice and don’t fucking overthink it either!  Just make a selection.  Or five.

One of the grand structures that seems perfect for many of us is the one where writing is done, a learning hall of education.  All you need to do is ask for help* in finding it, once you’ve relaxed into a state where you can travel there.  It’s the easiest thing to do, I promise.  It will get you unstuck, it will help you feel better, and I swear, it will heal what ails you like nothing else ever has.

*Guides, Teachers, or Angels will meet you, and show you where to go.  And stay with you if you need that as well.

Let us know how it works for all of you, because I am telling you, it will work.  If you approach it with an open heart and mind.  But really, like that advertisement says, don’t take my word for it, do this yourself and then report back.

Speaking of reporting in, last night I had the following text conversation with Dan.  He was ending his night, the drive was long but they arrived safely, so we were checking in with each other.  He is my proofreader, even when he’s nearly 600 miles away.  (Although, occasionally someone else [Corina!] has had to step in when he’s missed a vital omission or extra word.)

Him: Your post said the “Oakland side of the stadium” should that read “the Oakland side of the bay?”

Me:  No.  It was supposed to be like that.  In reference to Oakland Stadium.  But now that you  mention it, “the Bay” would have been better.  :-?

Him:  The entire stadium is the Oakland side – we just allow the Mariners to sit on a bench and shut their mouths.

He sent me this today, as I was getting on my bike to ride home from the pool.

He knows that I have kind of a special fondness for those guys.  Baseball was his game, football was mine, but when your “other half” is enjoying a sport, well….. then you are too.

*Wanna guess what position Daniel played?  Here’s a hint, he wore his ballcap backwards before it was cool.  Or maybe HE was the cool one, way before his time.

On our card altar today we have a winner.  Literally, this is what I call it: You Win.

6 Of Wands

We see our main figure riding in, to a joyful homecoming, and amongst great cheer.  He is victorious, wherever he’s been, it was greatly successful.   He is proud of his work and his accomplishments, he has risen high because he worked hard and did well.  This is our message.

We are this shining and bright individual.  We have overcome what was bringing us down, what was impeding our progress.  We fought the good fight and we won.  Whew, finally!

This is one of my favorites to see because it just exudes strength, inner and outer.  It shows us that we CAN make it, we CAN come back after hardships.  No one, and no thing, will keep us from getting up and going forward.  Be proud of what we’ve accomplished

The Wands are inspiring us to be clever and think creatively.  Move up and out of our comfort zones, stretch our brains and our ideas into new places.  Anything we try right now will be completely worthwhile and enlightening.  Ride that white horse, lead that parade!

Sixes tell us about perfect unions and exceptional balance.  They are mystical in their integration of the soul.  There is a conjoining and perfection about this number.  We can use its reliability to keep us on our steady course towards positivity and enlightenment.

I could look at this all month long,
ooooo, I think I will.

Tomorrow we’ll see what the rainbow of April has for us, and the other one, with the affirmations, too.

Today’s Mileage:

was not to the store for sale candy, I didn’t leave the house until it was time for class.  Then after, I just came home, 3.882 for 24 minutes, 4 seconds, with an average speed of 9.6.

(I tried to get my grand total for the month of March.  Fail.  I’ll have the deputy do it when he gets home.)

Higher Up and Farther Back.

Today we’ll be looking at two things.  Wait.  Three things.  Yeah, that’s it.  Three things.  Our message du jour, The Daily Dog, and…..  hell.  Four things.  Yep, today we’ll be looking at four things.  (Edited to add: turned into five things, I’m simply a Pentacle Person, through and through.)

Dragonflies (which I spelled incorrectly yesterday but I don’t care) are where we’ll begin.  Here is the place that was mentioned in our comments, it tells about symbolism.  It’s GREAT!  Long, but wonderful.  Go there.  Seriously.  Read it all.  It’s terrific!  Thanks Robin!  This answers SO many questions.   Also, wow.

Do you remember when Hanny sent me a new water bottle?  Have I even told you that story yet?  Well, she did.  Send me one.  It was a promotional or a special deal or a research item of some sort for this article.  AnyHOO, I took it for a ride today.  And promptly dented it. BADLY.

Totally not my fault.  It jumped out of the nice holder dealie that Anna from the bike shop installed for me.  (Not her fault either.)

recycled water bottles

Crash.

Also?  Aluminum is hard to get a good picture of!  The top was scraped and damaged (which maybe you can see).  The bottom was gouged and scratched (which you clearly can NOT see from this angle).  And several spots on the lower portion of the body of it were dented and smashed and marred beyond help (which you can kinda see in this shot).

After I got home* Dan tightened down the screws on my cage, and I drank all the water.  The functionality of the container was not hampered in the least.   Certainly a sturdy product my Hurricane gave me.

*I was using the bicycle as my green mode of transportation.  Today was teeth cleaning day!!!  Which, if you recall, I adore.  We have a new girl in the office.   She’s delightful.

On our card altar we have a tweak.  Much like the fallen hydration unit, not my fault.  Seems as though lots of crap is beyond my control today.

“The Spirit Whisperer  ~  3  ~

divine guidance, higher knowing

As an Ally, the Spirit Whisperer comes to you heralding the miraculous and the inspired.  She whispers guidance from the Divine through your higher senses so that you can hear her wisdom and know her love for you.  She is committed to helping you intuit the next right action and steers you away from trouble.

The Spirit Whisperer keeps you inspired to move forward, always knowing – just in time – the correct next step.  She guides you to fulfill your highest purpose.  When she appears, it is a sign of inspired ideas that, with continual action, lead to success.  That is a very good omen.

If your question is about a relationship, the Spirit Whisperer speaks of soul connections, past lives, and great learning through mutual mirroring.  She will whisper how long, how short, how deep, and how sweet the relationship can be.  There were soul bargains made even before you both were born here, and an exploration is in order.  You may move forward, but keep listening to the Spirit Whisperer for the lessons that the vulnerability of love brings.

As Challenger, the Spirit Whisperer warns that you are about to go astray and need her guidance.  Red flags are waving, and you must pay attention, lest you find yourself cleaning up messes you didn’t even know you made.

She challenges you to start again and trust your intuition.  In time you will be back on track.  On this occasion you can’t possibly go wrong since you’re that much more aware of the possible challenges you need to step away from.

If this is about a relationship, you may be repeating something in your past that you don’t need to relearn.  Stay away, as this may end up a costly distraction.  That said, lessons learned over and over make for great wisdom later.”

Before I’d read this definition I had decided to touch a bit on past lives in tonight’s post.  Funny how these things work out.

Oops, I got distracted by a barking Grand Dog there for a bit and had to step away from the desk.

sleeping dogs

Ignore the assorted and random garments,
focusing on the cute instead.

Danger averted, we’ve checked all exits and Max has cleared the way for me to continue.  Where the hell was I?  Oh right, past lives.  Okay, so.  I see them.  And you can too.  There is an exercise that will help you.  Sometimes mine happen spontaneously, but other times I need to go track one down.

Begin by envisioning, or adding on to, a sacred space location in your mind’s eye.  You’ll need a staircase of some sort.  Or simply steps leading down will also do.  They can be ultra basic, highly decorative, or anything in-between that pops into your head.

At the bottom of your stairs or steps is a long hallway, row of doors, archway, or some other lengthy corridor that will fill our needs for this project.  Again, leave it up to your imagination.  The only requirement is that there are portals of some sort which you can go through.  Doors work well.

Making a point of breathing consciously and regularly, approach the entryway that feels right to you.  (Sometimes you need to walk up and down a few times to get a good impression of where you should be going for this particular situation.)  Say clearly that you are able to SEE, but have no need to FEEL, all that you experience, and move forward.  Chances are that there will be some pain in the lifetime you are going to be locating.  After all, you did DIE at the end of it.  So protect your current psyche with the assurance that you are now merely an observer; it’s not necessary for you to relive all of that emotion again.

Go with it.  Allow yourself to watch, gather knowledge, honor the experience, remember significant points, and recognize those people who are with you now.  When I do this I also look around for some sign of what year I’m in.  It’s helpful to also listen for names and locations.

Recently I had some physical manifestations that were bugging the ever living shit out of me.  This exercise was hugely beneficial in narrowing down what was going on when (and why).  We mirror our past lives in many ways.  When we have died at a specific age it is not uncommon for us to experience symptoms of what killed us at the same time in our current lives.  Illnesses are often paralleled with when we had them (or died from them) in other lives to correspond with this one.

I’ve had excellent success with this type of work, and I really hope you guys do too.  Do not give up if you don’t get a clear ”movie-like” vision the very first time.  Also, don’t second guess your memories.  No, we weren’t all famous people, but we were all SOME people, totally worthwhile individuals, as we are now.
