The Physical as well as the Ethereal.

Tonight we are beginning with the real-life updates.  Just to keep shit straight in MY smooth brain, as well as to fill everyone in on the local haps.  As I sit here typing (with a towel on my head, more on that later) Hanna & Co are motoring down the freeway in this direction.  Yes, that’s right, she’s on her way back.

She tweeted an adorable phone photo of her and Indi, and in my reply I used the hashtag “summer of Hanna” due to our generous seasonal exposure in the past few months.  Fine by me!  I’d be much happier if they lived a helluva lot closer and we saw them this often on a regular basis.

Today’s expedition was a long-planned-for trip though, unlike the last sad and quick visit.  J.Adam‘s family is having a gathering in San Francisco over the weekend, in preparation for an upcoming October wedding (his sister).  He and my girl will be leaving the Grand Dogs here while they continue on down the road.  (They’ll also be visiting Dan’s family while they’re in the area, bonus!)  Returning here mid-week and getting back to Seattle by Thursday night.

While the wee darlings are here though, Dan and I will be pawning them off onto, petitioning the services of delegating care over to our Empress on her days off.  We’re going to see Skye at the coast!  Just a quick overnight, but it will be fun and it will get us out of the house.  Also?  THE BEACH!  Plus a hotel pool, where I’m going to teach her my swimmy-exercisey class so she can do it at home when her vacation is over.

Speaking of my therapeutic pool, it’s now closed for yearly maintenance.  When it reopens after Labor Day we’ll have our usual spot on the schedule, without having to share the water.  Our classes are getting so big that it’s just not fair (my argument) nor feasible to block in two events at the same time.  I win!  (One minor glitch, but we’re working around it.  The name of the game is compromise.)

Now, back to why I currently appear turban-like.  I took a shower.  Sure, I do bathe on a regular basis, but when it’s hot, I do it WAY more.  The heat warning Dan’s smarty-pants phone sent him was correct.  Hotter than hot today.  Not quite a hundred but damn close.  So what did I do when he left for work?  That’s correct, I rode my five mile Route.

It has become even more apparent to me that I am getting immune to weather.  I’m gonna sweat like someone has wrapped me in flannel and stuck my sorry ass into an oven no matter HOW hot or cold the ambient air is.  Fact, no getting around it.  I drink only water anyway, and I fill my bottles probably more than three times a day, so there’s no danger of dehydration.  I just NEED to get outside.  So.  I do.  Then, I have to shower.  Again.  (My hair hasn’t been all the way dry in weeks.)

On to our more spiritual pursuits now.  As I stood with today’s cards in my hands, and flipped over the daily draw, I heard this, “treat ourselves with love – we’re not causing these problems, the situations just ARE – lovingly forgive ourselves, allow that Tranquility and Self-Care to be in the back of our minds at all times during this challenging period.”

As you, no doubt, saw in the comments, we’re in for a LONG haul in regards to this planetary mess.  It seems as though we are being told to hang on, see as much with love and patience as we possibly can, because THAT’S how we’ll get through it.

“Rose Quartz  ~

unconditional love, peace, joy, loving thoughts

Blessings!  You are being bathed in love, light, and healing energy by the universe and those who dearly love and treasure you…..

Remember the more love you give, the more love you automatically receive in return.  Know that you truly deserve all the blessings coming your way.

The following is a short prayer you may wish to recite so that others may also open their hearts to the healing power of love:

We pray for love to heal and guide us, to illuminate our hearts and minds so that we may all come to see and feel the sacred flame of light we each hold within.  For then we shall truly know, beyond any doubt, that only love is real – only love is eternal.”

Instead of ending with an affirmation today I’m going to share what I received in my mailbox.  (Yes, regular letters are getting through.)    Karen Buys sent this to me the other day.  Enjoy!

From Medea by Kerry Greenwood:

For her garment, the Earth Mother
Wove a green covering, in it are all things made
That ever were made or ever will be made.
We are trees, we are the cold curve of the sea-wave,
We are the bright eyes of stars,
We are the precise geometry of salt.
We are as uncounted as the grains of sand,
But she has counted us,
Woven us into her tapestry.
We are part of her garment
We are designed, have place,
We are part of her pattern.
As her loom was laid out across the heavens,
As her shuttle swung back and forth,
Weaving ants and mountains
She wove us, and snow, and leaves.
We cannot die
Although we die.
The pattern continues,
We are part of her pattern.”

There may soon be a video of Mr Mixx Maxx with the hose.  We’ll keep you posted.

small dogs

SUCH a rare occurrence.
Both of his ears up,
at the same time.

Tomorrow this house will be three times as dog-o-riffic.

Litha.

I hope you all had a delightful and positive Solstice today.  Mine was quite sunny.  No huge celebrations though.  I’ve done them, they’re lovely, but not what I need any longer.  In my googling around earlier I did come across a very useful resource that I thought you guys would like.  Here is a wonderfully informative post.

It’s so fun when I stumble across these places.  Can’t wait to go read more from this person.  I encourage anyone who is interested in the history of our high holy days spend a few minutes there.  No clue who runs it, but I’m going to find out later.

I also came across this place.  I’m fascinated by miniatures, as you all well know.  But this takes it to an entirely higher level.  ALIVE gardens!  But TINY!  Will be spending some time there as well.

As I entered our card altar room this afternoon, right before I headed out on the bike, I was guided to our newest deck.  As it turns out, this one is perfect for today.  (Of course it is.)

 summer solstice definition

“Goddess Of Nature  ~

You reap what you sow;

Your dream is coming to fruition.

This is a time to reap the rewards and benefits that are derived from the seeds of a project, venture, or idea you planted some time ago.  It has not all be plain sailing, and many a time you have doubted whether your many efforts and labour would ever be rewarded.

Yet harvest time has come.  A time when you reap what you have sown.  Accept all the blessings about to come your way and realise that they are the result of the love, courage, dedication, and commitment you have shown in the recent past.

Give thanks to Mother Nature and enjoy!”

Those five-pointed stars caught my eye immediately.  Duh.  And in this case I actually don’t hate the illustration, entirely.  Kinda dark, but the symbolism is nice.  If I don’t look too closely (still lines in her eyes) this one will suffice.  Also, the message is great.

Last night after he got off work, my son came by.  He had ordered a few things for his dad, and since we were gone last weekend, the gift giving happened around our kitchen table, at one in the morning.

kitchen guns

No. This was not the present.

That gun was merely the one J.D. had with him.  To show his father?  I guess.  I wasn’t paying attention* to that part of the conversation.  The gifts were outstandingly cool, a combo package of assorted items from both of our Aries babies.  (Gemini girl gave us a baseball game evening and was fabulously generous all weekend.)

*I was very busy trying to avoid his french fries.  I failed, in this attempt, just as I did with the last one (from yesterday).  Don’t even ASK about the  health report right now.

If you looked at Dan’s new twitter page you saw the tweetie pic he sent out last night (a new watch, guitar pick press, multi-use BBQ implement, and some assorted dried meat snacks).  Later, a miracle occurred.  Jade joined the masses.  Follow him too: @daywalker103 (please and thank you).

backyard gardens

My lettuces!

When we got home (and it was light out), this was one of the first things I checked on.  My salad bowl continues to amaze and thrill me.  This Friday I’m hoping that the guy who sold us the starts has his booth up at the Farmer’s Market so I can get more.  If not, it’ll still be a great time there, Ally is playing her tuba!  (Yes, there will be pictures.)

Finally, here’s our Daily Dog.  As soon as I opened the door he shot right out onto the porch.  Then, he immediately collapsed.

I’m warm,
are you warm?

See?  Sunny.  We are very glad to see that Summer truly has arrived.  (Even if it was ferociously freaking cloudy yesterday and it’s probably going to rain tomorrow.)

Deeply Feeling It.

We’re packing up  right now for our trip home.  Hitting the rails again in an hour.  Also, we’ve been planning the next journey back here* (Betty MacDonald’s Life Tour) while simultaneously discussing Han‘s July time at home (Oregon Country Fair).  My hope is that all of this “soon to happen” distraction will help me avoid the Sad that ususlly falls on me at this point in the proceedings.  Fingers crossed!

*We hadn’t thought it would be such a quick turn-around, but this new local author info has sparked our interest, and set us on new quest.

With all the traveling everyone will be doing this summer, the seasons  should go by super fast, and no one will really miss any one else too badly.  This is my hope, at least.

seattle dogs

Hunter!

No clue what Dan was trying to do here on this new phone, but he obviously needed help with it.

mixed breed dogs in seattle

Indiana!

Lots and lots of help.  (Really, how does anyone get a thing done with OUT that kind of uber useful assistance?)

The Foreign Licence Plate Report is massive.  I’ve been taking notes on my wee cellular device but never had a chance to share what we’ve seen.  I’ll just transcribe it all now, exactly as I’ve got it saved:

two Montanas, Minnesota, and another Minn, BC, and one more, plus another and another.  BC again. Wyoming, Wisconsin, Connecticut.   New York.  Again.  Arizona times two, North Carolina, Maryland, Alaska, Florida.  Did we already write down NC?   Kansas.  Two Nebraskas.  Fluffy white feather.  At the game too.  And one more.  Adam’s new word is Insultimentry.  Garment/dress and skirt ideas using old clothes.

Nice huh?  Yeah, it’s been a really lovely adventure.  But I have to go toss my jammie pants on so we can catch our cab for the station.

Queen of Cups

She arrives to comfort us.  She is always there when you need her.  She tells of balanced emotions and true motherly love.  She is calm in a tumultous and stormy time.  She is the caregiver.  She is the fixer of all things we feel so strongly.  She is our anchor and our joy.  She treasures us as the blessings that we are.  As we honor her out of respect and caring.
