I hope all of you had a lovely and festive Beltain, because ya know, that’s where May Day came from. Ours was mostly erranding and then I took my ride while Dan put some of the things we’d purchased together, cleverly turning them into actual food. Not too exciting, but very necessary.
Last night he and Emmy made two trips back and forth with one car and the truck for the majority of her belongings. In the turmoil we seem to have lost her phone charger. Bummer. On the plus side, even though she’s had a long day at work, with a bit more last-minute detailing to finish (and one more pet to gather), Max was perfectly safe, and well loved here with us.
(Except for that one short moment in time when we were out. Giving him JUST the right amount of opportunity to get past one of our hall barricades and leave a poo downstairs. Second one in two days. Thanks, pal. So glad we could be here for ya.)
Our first Daily Dog shot, in this new Long Term Guests series. He’s looking sort of squinty because I’ve interrupted his nap. After I took this picture I sat back down with him and he returned to snoozing in my lap while I read the paper.
It’s also time to turn calendar pages over. Here’s what the Hawaii one in the upstairs hallway looks like now.
The out house one hasn’t been flipped over yet, so I don’t know how good it is. But this is OUTSTANDINGLY gorgeous!
In the card altar room another unusualness occurred. I was over by the table where I do my journaling, datebook/busy daily crap (and sit down to read Tarot cards) when I “knew” we needed to use one of our retired decks, but as I reached over to turn the top card, two dropped out in front of me. Now I’m curious to find out why.
“The Lord Of The Sea ~
Description:
a great maelstrom of watery energy from which a larger than life face, crowned with sea weed, looks out. It is somehow part of the water, yet more than that.

Passion ~
The restless and tempestuous energy of the sea is represented by the Lord of the Wave himself. Our species came from the sea and still feels a powerful attraction to it. To the Celts the way to the otherworld lies across water – to ride one of the horses of the Lord Of The Sea is to arrive swiftly at the heart of all mystery.

…. he is also a craftsman and farmer and a wielder of magic. His role is very much that of an enchanter.
The Inworld ~ Third Circle
Description:
A vast cavern beneath the earth through which a river runs. On the roof and walls are painted ancient symbols of the ancestors. The print of a hand decorates a stone near the entrance.

Ancestors ~
The Third Circle, also called Annwn or Inworld, is the abode of the ancestors and thus one of the prime sources of wisdom and knowledge. The roots of The Tree Of Vision And Tradition grow down into this realm and it is reached by descending through a tunnel or deep hole in the earth.
Background:
As a place of foundation from which all knowledge springs, more has been written about the Third Circle than any of the other worlds. Though it is sometimes seen as a dimly lit place haunted by shadows and dreams, there is another side to the underworld, that of stars within the earth which illuminate it with brightness. Nor is it by any means always night there.”
These cards were removed from our original rotation when others arrived on our doorstep. I like having them “over there” and knowing that we can travel back when the time is right. Each had its own Journey as well, it felt right to include one of them here.
“Travel to the edge of the sea, where you find a white horse waiting for you to ride upon its back. It gallops with you across the tops of the waves towards a shimmering island that seems to hover on the horizon like a bank of golden cloud. Ask him to relate to you something of the lore of the sea’s kingdom and some act or task you may undertake to cleanse and renew its once pure waters. Promise to do all that you can to help this cause and when you return, remember this undertaking.”
Very fitting as we sail headlong into Spring, right? I thought so too. So our message from the ancients is to be proactive, seek out the tasks that we can perform for our beloved planet and her waters, knowing deep down inside that we are guided by our most inner consciousness, all while accepting and acknowledging the blessings of our ancestors.
