Prism-like Perception

We are conceding this round to the puff pastry.  I gather no points and have thrown in the towel, but Daniel wants to step back into the ring, eventually.  For now, no recipes and no pictures to share.

I will say this though, my beautiful cousin Jannel’s home-made lemon curd was EXCELLENT!  Even if the appearance of what we put it on/in was less than pleasing.  The taste was exquisite.

At one point during our endeavor  Dan opened the oven door, as I stepped close, inquiring, “how’s it look in there?”

His calm and clear answer was, “on fire.”  So, yeah.  That’s kinda how our evening went.  (The flamage was not from burnt food, just some melty, spilled mess that had gone down the back wall.  And then caught fire.  A lot.)

No harm done, I grabbed for the baking soda and doused the worst of it.  In the end, all was edible.  Not EVEN CLOSE to what we had planned, but we ate it.  And didn’t die.

We aren’t fishing for assvice today, or even baking suggestions, but thank you, sincerely, for the offer, if that was at your finger-tips.  We may or may not attempt this type of enterprise again.  You’ll be the first to hear if we do.

Let’s move directly on with our daily draw, there is next to nothing else worth reporting right now.  (We went to the pool, it was noisy and crowded with our shared-water time, not so great, many of us will be making formal complaints.)

“God Of Reflections  ~

The qualities you see in others are simply your own reflection.

You are giving away your power because you fail to recognise and acknowledge the many wondrous qualities that you possess.   The qualities you admire in others are simply reflections of the same qualities within you.  Yet often, you falsely believe that others are better than you in some way.

It is now time to let go of this belief and allow your beauty, your talent, and your creativity to shine through.  From now on, every time you see beauty in another, let it serve to remind you of your own beauty.  If you recognise success in another check to see how success also exists within you, and so on.

As your perceptions are brought into balance, you become a more effective force in the world and have more impact on those around you.  By acknowledging all the beautiful qualities that you already possess, you open the door to an endless stream of abundance and blessings which stem from the heart of creation.”

This one could NOT have come at a better time for me.  I truly hope it’s as helpful and enlightening to all of you, too.

Today’s Deck:

Angels, Gods, and Goddesses Oracle Cards by Toni Carmine Salerno

Today’s Good News:

because of Delia‘s superior google-fu skills, we know what my new antique treasure is called, and what it was used for.  NOT a pie plate at all!  It’s a small roaster.  The name of that pattern is Philbe.  (I know, PHILBE?!)  And the color is Sapphire.  (Seems appropriate  since that’s my birthstone.)  Thank you,  so many more details than we had before.

LateNight Sharing:

from Corina (after we’d just been discussing this very event), go HERE.  And jot that shit down, it all looks WAY cool.

  1. OMFG! Wow, you two really know how to heat things up in the kitchen! ;) Frickin hilarious! I can just picture Dan, all matter-of-fact, “on fire.” LOL! Glad you survived, and even managed to eat the result.

Well at least I can look at Toni’s card this time without getting the heebie-geebies! Although I had to increase my brightness to be able to see anything whatsoever. But it is a wonderful message, as always from this deck.

  2. Yeah, the flames really ruin an otherwise good cooking experience. I have done that both inside (with the oven) and outside (with the grill). It does make things interesting for a time. Great card, and for once a not disturbing picture. Do complain about the shared pool time; it is hard to teach a class in the chaotic environment that sometimes happens with multi use.

I was really trying to make this compromise work, but it’s not going to. Complaining (some more) is definitely in my near future.

  3. I just did some baking myself. We are trying to have January birthday dinner so I just baked brownies which I plan on turning into chocolate ice cream cake and a pound cake for strawberry short cake.
I have been amazed at Delia’s superior googling skills before! I’m not very good at research myself.
I don’t like it when my pool is too crowded, either.

  4. Mmmmm…now I want puff pastry and lemon curd. Delicious. As to the glassware, it was the roaster? I wasn’t sure because I saw no ridge when I first looked. I do love the color of that line, though. It’s a good thing I have no kitchen space or there would be money spending in my future. ;)

It’s a damn good thing we’re poor, because I would be SUCH a freaking hoarder collector!

  5. This is a great card and I’m going to keep it in mind as much as I can! I love the message.

Yay for Delia and her google-fu! I love old dishes and the color blue. Good thing I am not buying non-essentials because I have no room in my kitchen!

I’d like to find the lid for this one, but I probably won’t spend much time looking for it. It’ll just have to show up on my doorstep.

  6. Sorry about the fire. Yikes! Now I better clean up the cheese droppings from my home cooked pizzas. : )
Love the card. This is really speaking to me. I’m so happy to promote others yet have a hard time promoting myself.

I’ll try this: From now on, every time you see beauty in another, let it serve to remind you of your own beauty. If you recognise success in another check to see how success also exists within you, and so on.

Do clean up that oven, better to be safe! Also, DO try that reframing. I did it today while we were out. It really does work!

  7. Fire in the oven. Look at the bright side, life is never dull at your house! :)

Glassware is sooo tempting I did not -even- follow those links. Nope. Not going there. Seriously, I’m not gonna look. huh uh.

Needed this card today. Very, very much.

Nope, “dull” is the LAST way anyone would describe us! :P
