Shhhh, someone is sleeping. We were doing shitty household chores earlier, but then, somehow, Dan ended up taking a nap. Not entirely unusual, he HAS worked nights for decades now, day-sleeping is the norm around here. But when he’s NOT working and we had a few more things on the To Do List? Kind of different. But also, adorable. So, we need to keep the noise level down out here.
(Did I mention that Max is in there with him? Well, he is.)
My day began with an appointment. I went to see *A* and we discussed depression. (Show of hands, who is not even the teensiest bit shocked?!) We equated it to mosquitoes. Yes, that’s right, being depressed is like a swarming barrage of stinging insects. We can fight them off, put up netting, spray ourselves with citronella, and over-ingest vitamin B-complex, but they come back, seemingly out of no where and for no reason. Buzzing and humming and generally disrupting EVERY fucking aspect of our lives.
We were very entertained by this analogy, I told her that I’d be sharing it here. We began with her referring to this overwhelming feeling as being set-upon by gremlins. And I said that gremlins are merely the pesky bugs of the Magickal realm. We ran with it from there. Feel free to take this up and make it your own.
One of the reasons this was our topic, and why, perhaps, the deputy was attacked by a nap (old Garfield [the cartoon, not the president] reference, if you don’t get it, don’t worry, hardly anyone does), was because we had to pack away the holiday decorations/deconstruct the front living area. I don’t manage well with anything “tidy” related or having to do with the kids when none of them are here. Memories are not FOND to me, they are cripplingly sad.
However, we got through it. And now, with only one other chore left to be crossed-off the list (not counting dinner) I believe we’ve averted most of the potential terror. And in spite of the weather (31 degrees Fahrenheit with clouds so low they were really more like drifting fog banks throughout downtown and all across the valley floor), my bike ride felt very good. (No, my BIKE is not any better, just the pedaling part seemed improved. For the moment.)
My son gave me a set of Russian nesting dolls for Solstice. They are beyond beautiful. (Thank you again, J.D.) When we were putting things back together, this seemed to be where they wanted to live.
Moving now, from that form of an altar, to the one where our cards rest, it seems as though we’ve received another playful jab from the Universe. Messages about our messages, I love it.
“Pay Attention ~
Notice repetitious signs and your inner guidance, as this can yield valuable information.
Heaven is giving you important messages, and by drawing this card, you are asked to pay extra attention to them. Notice conversations you overhear, comments made to you by others, and inner feelings and thoughts. Look for common threads among the signs, as they are forms of guidance to help you manifest your Divine purpose and desires.
It is not your imagination that Heaven is sending you signs and Divine guidance. Anytime you hear or feel something three or more times, especially within a short time period, it’s information worthy of your attention. These signs also give you feedback about your current belief system, since your thoughts attract mirroring experiences. Use these signs to heal beliefs that dishonor you, and swim in the direction that your guidance points you.”
When I looked at this illustration, right before I got dressed to go out and face the elements, my immediate thought was, “she’s yesterday’s Page, but under water!”
Today’s Deck:
Magical Mermaids and Dolphins Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue
FLP Report:
another Alaska (but that actually MAY have been a vehicle I saw before, it’s a small car parked near campus), and one more Montana (STILL not anyone I know).
Today’s Mileage:
8.852 downtown and back with no detours except for the library, which is literally on the way, with an average speed of 9.6MPH and time pedaling of 54 minutes, 55 seconds. Also, that Top Speed went up again, not because of me, but the downhill route I took this afternoon: 24.2 (it feels way faster too).
Yesterday’s Baking:
the more I use my mini-cupcake making machine, the more I love it.

They look pinched because I use a pair of Dan’s kitchen tongs to grab them out of their wee beds.
(Yes, one did get more indented than the others, tasted the same.)
Brownie batter in the shape of a tiny cupcake. Yeah, that worked. We added chopped cherries and filberts this time. And frosted them with cherry-almond icing. There are almost none left, we shared with the in-town kids, and I can’t stop eating them. (They’re very small, and go down very fast!)

I love naps and mermaids. I just remembered there was a lone coyote on the side of the road the other night. Nothing around that he appeared to be chasing so I guess he was there for me. I’m gonna go look him up.
Glad you got through the deconstruction easier than you thought. Those cupcakes look yummy.

Be careful with The Trickster! He’s a lot of fun, but he may also have been there as a warning.
(And yes, he WAS there for you.)

What, no pics of the nap attack?! An event this adorable must have documentation, dammit! (Yes, I got the reference, when I was a child I was given probably every single Garfield book in existence at the time.)
Well, our messages cards are right on the money, and synchronicities abound… the way you talk about depression, i.e. gremlins, brought to mind this posting that I just read about various negative psychic energies, and how to cleanse and protect ourselves from them: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=395143893900465&set=a.353812524700269.86266.307283972686458&type=3&theater . And also this message from Archangel Michael, a message for 2013 and a recharging visualization, channeled by Carolyn Ann O’Riley: http://www.carolynannoriley.com/AMMessageBuckleYourSeatBeltfor2013.htm
The nesting doll set is gorgeous!!! What a lovely little sacred corner!
Today’s underwater Page is lovely, too, and, see, I am paying attention!
Oh, and Mercury (The Divine Messenger) is currently in conjunction with the Sun (a conjunction is when they are very close to each other, and the energies work together during this time) in Capricorn, but they are going to be moving into Aquarius (The Water-Bearer!) on the 18th and 19th, respectively. More synchronicity!
OMFG, the brownie-cupcakes look/sound SOOO YUMMY!
My concoction for the night was combining two of our various home remedies, that of “cold cure” 1 tsp honey + 1/4 tsp cinnamon, with the fact that both of these are used in the anti-inflammatory lemon juice concoction that I shared with you months ago, and turmeric is as well. I used the honey & cinnamon on biscuits and that’s really good, and I decided today to find out if adding some turmeric would totally ruin it… it didn’t, it just added an exoticness that was strangely enjoyable (to me, at least). I didn’t actually measure any of the amounts, but I used significantly less turmeric than cinnamon. It was super-yummy on apple slices.

Outstanding links, thank you! I have copied the meditation so that I can do it tomorrow before we head out. (And I imagine, many more times now that we know it’s an option.)
Your concoctions sound wonderful and I bet they helped a ton!

Oooh, and I just found another astrology site that is awesome! The home page has a run-down of where each planet is, and you can expand each to see its effects on the day’s energies: http://www.stellardays.com/ .
~
Oh wow. I’m gonna need to spend LOTS of time there!
Thank you.
(I think.)

That rocks!!
I need extra energy today. I am driving to Dallas, which including stops can take up to 5.5 hours. And I’m feeling a little bit out of it this morning. Waiting for the caffeine to kick in. I like to feel alert when I’m driving.
I would agree with wanting a pic of Dan napping with Max, but I kind of thing neither of them would be happy with it and would think it an invasion of privacy.Oh well.

Hug Sierra, her guy, and the pets for us all!
(Well, ya know, don’t hug the non-dogs for *ME*, but for everyone else…..)
And Happy Birthday weekend!

Wow! On Wednesday night I had a dream about drowning in the ocean at Santa Monica, last night I watched a new to me show on PBS, Vera, it’s about a detective and the story was murder by drowning, then I read this post. Hmmm? Must go dig up my dream analysis book. ; )

Okay, yeah. Signs in threes, here ya go.

I am not getting any repeater messages, except friends calling me to say I have helped them via Tarot. Helping the Universe to help others makes me feel tingly and happy and useful. Also, I am starting to get “into” my animal totem deck in a big way.
~
I am so glad that you’re finding your animal totem cards worthwhile and useful! Super cool too that you’re being validated, because I’m here to tell ya, YOU do some amazingly wonderful work! (On so many levels.)

Those damn nap attacks… Great card. I am heading out on a mini adventure myself; road trip with my niece to my sister’s house to reclaim my truck, which she has had for a month. At least her car will be fixed soon.
~
Safe travels and mini-adventuring (even though you’ve already come and gone)!

I would -love- to have a nap attack. Naps have always eluded me except when I’m sick.
Nothing in threes for me today. I will keep my eyes open tomorrow when I go out.
Reading about your brownies made me think of chocolate so I just fixed myself some hot chocolate with amaretto. yum, yum, yum

We are big believers in sleeping whenever sleep is needed. The kids tease me about how I used to “help” them if they ever had nodding-off issues.
My advice was always:
lie down, close your eyes.
Voila, you are asleep.
(Well, that’s how it works for me!)
