A (Minor) Wrench In The Works.

This will be brief.  I yanked some damn thing* in my back today.  Not because of any incident, crash, stress or strain, simply due to turning around on my bike to make sure the new bungee cord was holding what it was supposed to.  (It only sort of was.)  I’ll be fine, nothing huge.  It’s just stiff, intermittently painful, and irritating as shit.

*Most likely a pulled muscle.

In travel news, my Hurricane has landed safely in New York City.  She’s staying here tonight, and moving on around noon-ish tomorrow.

The Jane NYC

This is nearly the entire room you are looking at.

As she shares more, I’ll do the same.  Yes, she’s there on work business.  And yes, this is her first trip into that city.  I am so super excited for her.

Here is our daily draw.  I need to just get through it, and go find my BioFreeze.  Plus the Arnica.  And take some more analgesics.

Five Of Wands  ~  Facing Challenges

Fives are of us, of matter.  And Wands are of inspiration, of energy.  Often, when we put these two together, we get some dust-ups of the creative variety.  Be aware of this.  Also, know that when we learn through the rough patches, we deepen our lessons.

One of the features of the way this deck is illustrated that I particularly like is how the staves make the shape of a Pentacle.  Any time I can work with a five-pointed star, I’m happy.  Even if there is conflict.  I’d rather there NOT be any tussling, but it is part of life.  Keeping that in mind, along with the Sacred Elements, will help us wade through, and get past, whatever is our currently disharmonious situation.

Our message is about how we DEAL with the challenges we face.  Do we use our positive energy force?  Do we smile down the demons?  Do we put a more delightful spin on it all and search for our blessings?  Or do we wallow and whine and learn not a damn thing?  THAT part is up to us, as individuals, and as team members.

Today’s Deck:

Robin Wood Tarot

I have no FLP report tonight because I was too busy twisting my spine around to keep eyes on my double-bags, but I do have a mini No Shampoo check-in for Day I-Don’t-Know-What (it began on the 3rd, so you do the math, not sure whether I should count the day I started or not), which is that, all of my dreadlocks have slipped away (or were gently untangled).  Also, I need to buy a better quality head broom.

Brushing this ratty mop is part of the program.  I forgot that part.  Now I have to GET a damn tool.  On the plus side, that vinegar smell absolutely does go away.  However, I’m thinking of switching it for lemon juice next time I rinse.  Because, why not?

  1. Don’t you just luuuve getting injuries that you really didn’t do anything to deserve them? Grrrr…

No creative conflicts for me today. I’m going to be doing really “exciting” things like taking my mother in for medical tests and doing laundry. Woohoo!

    ~
Sadly, mine usually include amusing stories.

  2. I pulled some damn thing in my back too. Only it’s BAD! I cannot sit, drive, sleep… It’s debilitating. I am not smiling at demons. I’m not taking this well at all!

    ~
Oh gawd, I’m so sorry! Make some of that healing tonic I put up in tonight’s post, then sit with a heating pad, after downing a Trifecta Of Pain Relief. Meditate on WHY you got this now. Seriously, this all works REALLY well!

Do you have any BioFreeze? If not, GET SOME NOW!

  3. Sorry ’bout the back. I’ve done it putting on mascara before. Ouch. FGB’s to you and Kate.

My rough patch is the joy of watching Captain Barbosa while the kids take a short honeymoon. Chester learned that barking at the Lording was fun and has decided that this will be a fun thing to teach the Captain too. That and a night of no sleep ’cause the poor puppy was in a new environment didn’t help my sensory over load.

I say the joy of watching the Captain becuase even with the chaos it is causing I am so thankful to have the opportunity to get to know this little guy. He’s adorable. If the gods are kind he’ll sleep tonight. I know I did sleep a bit last night because I had dreams about how much I needed to get some sleep. ;)

I hope your babies settle in tonight and you get to sleep plenty. Big love to the MoonyMooners!

  4. Fie on the witch’s wrenches! Yay for the new functional tote bags. Yay for safe travels for Hanna. And a really interesting card; I do love the drawing.

Still feeling concussed from the tooth extraction…or the anesthesia, I don’t know which.

    ~
My guess would be the combo of it all, that’s some Big Time trauma.
    Keep healing!

  5. Bummer about the back. May it recover quickly and easily.

I use a brush with natural boar bristles in it. It does a good job of spreading my hair oils out naturally, which is good for my hair, as well as massaging my scalp. You can get them in different firmnesses.

I always love when we come back to the Robin Tarot: I’m a traditionalist and so love the more traditional tarots the best. Although I did really like the crystal supercharged unicorn card. :)

    ~
I’d like a natural bristle brush but I really don’t want it to be actually made from an animal.

Not sure how that’s gonna work. :?

  6. Sorry about the bad backs, Julie and Kate. I know how awful that can be as I’ve suffered with a chronic bad back, and rotten right knee, for years. If it isn’t one it’s the other.
My challenges come back to learning to say no. I have once again over committed and am struggling to do what I said I would do. The dust should, I hope, settle by this evening. : ) I’ve promised myself that I’m taking the weekend off and doing things only for myself.

    ~
I would truly be insane if I had to deal with this kind of pain for more than a day or two. You are a brave warrior!

On a more positive note, hope your resting weekend is PERFECT in every way possible.

  7. Poor Julie’s and Kate’s backs! *gentle hugs and FGBVs*

Julie, the acid in lemon juice is much stronger than vinegar. Also, if I recall correctly (I might not), vinegar has other beneficial properties that lemon juice does not. You may be better off sticking with vinegar. (Or not. The no-poo method didn’t work for me long-term, so I may be talking out of my ass here.)

    ~
I love it when you talk out of your ass, much wisdom and great insight invariably come from . . . . . uh, wait.
Well, that didn’t really sound as complimentary as I intended it to.

Thanks for the hair rinse info, your counter-part here in The Burrow told me, “you know one of the JulieLanders is going to say something about the different proprieties that lemon juice has.” Dan was right again, and YOU were the one who came through for him.
Nice team the two of you make. :P

(I didn’t know you tried the NoShampoo thing. Too bad it didn’t work.)

  8. Feel better, Kate & Julie!

I don’t know that I’m using a positive energy force or smiling down my demons, it’s more that I’m wading through mud and just trying to reach dry land. I think there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but it’s really far away. *sigh*

    ~
Hey, wading still gets you there! And to put even more of a positive spin on this,
be thankful you HAVE a light. ;)

  9. FGBVs to Kate and Julie. I’ve been there and it’s no fun. Hope you’re feeling better soon. I got this exact card in a reading I did yesterday. Hmmmm.

    ~
Wow, I love it when that happens.
Not the conflict part, but ya know,
    the connected part.
