I’m having some trouble concentrating tonight, there was a debate, and although I wasn’t watching it, I did read all of the tweeties and see a tiny bit of news. I try to stay informed, while keeping a smidge removed from politics, I get too angry otherwise. But I am also, as you well know, fairly damn obsessive about doing shit in order.
The Twitter messages come up chronologically. Which means that I need to read ALL of them. In order. NO skipping around. Hence my distraction. What has worked in the past, to help me focus, is to begin with our daily draw.
This illustration is immediately soothing. Not the way it’s drawn so much as the fact of it being all ocean-y.
“Watch Your Thoughts ~
It’s important to only think about what you desire, not what you fear.
By drawing this card, you are alerted to the extra importance of monitoring your thoughts. You have no neutral thoughts, and every one of them creates an effect in your life. So you’re being asked to be vigilant in holding only positive thoughts.
Most of us slip into negativity occasionally, and you may be no exception. However, you can ‘undo’ the effects of negative thinking by recognizing them and stating: ‘I now cancel that thought, and replace it with the following positive affirmation of my true Divine desires.’ Then list the situations and attributes that mirror your godliness and goddessliness.
During this important part of your life, you have the power to manifest your highest potential at the most rapid rate possible.”
Such amazing timing on this one, for me. I was feeling extremely negative, questioning crap, and basically bemoaning my lack of work, progress, and forward momentum. Thanks, Universe!
It’s also a great reminder for us on how to refocus our intentions. We haven’t talked much about brain work here lately, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been going on. I feel as though we’re making progress in my sessions with *A* every other week. In aiming for Transformation, it seems like a manageable way for me to wrap my head around letting go of the diet/fat mindset.
Doreen says that we can cancel those negative thoughts, and replace them with affirmations. This is exactly the type of example I like to see. A simple suggestion which does so much. I’ll be practicing this. A. Lot.
How about some pool news, huh? Tonight’s class was a small one, but very nice. I got to catch up with a few regulars and try out my new weights.
We DID find the shop, and they DID have what we needed. Now Daniel and I are proud owners of our own equipment. Yikes, what a difference a new, and much more challenging, set of these DeltaBells makes. Hopefully I can talk to the wellness center’s manager soon and we can get more of these for everyone. He knows who all the donor folks are, and how to request necessary items.
Earlier I received this from Empress, as a phone photo. She had taken a few over the weekend, and promised to share.
Unfortunately you can’t see the canine play-pen (similar to this one) in the above shot, but it IS there in the room. It was adorable, and when I first saw it all set up, I crawled in with them. Very cozy place.
In extremely personal news, I’ve begun my own experiment with not shampooing my hair. Our Hurricane tried this, and wrote about it, but I was waiting for all of my products to get used up before I dove in (I had way more than I thought I did). The revisiting* of this idea has been making the rounds for a while now, but for me, the timing just wasn’t right. Now it is, I’ll keep you posted.
*I say revisiting because the evolution of hair-care is now going BACK in history, to more natural solutions. The invention of shampoo, in all of its chemically infused ickiness, is a fairly new concept.

Maine (I didn’t go anywhere but the pool, and that’s where this one was).

Magical Mermaid and Dolphin Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue

Very Good reminder card! I, too, love the “stop, cancel that, replace” suggestion.
Glad you found the pool equipment you were looking for!

Those new “weights” are a serious step up on the work-out scale. Can’t wait for Monday when Dan gets to try his. I’ll make sure he reports in.

And in synchronistic news today… I went from here to facebook, and this was the first thing in my news feed:
“Another major planetary turn happens today when Jupiter goes retrograde for the next 4 months just as the Moon in Gemini eclipses his light. This is actually a gift (unlike Mercury retrogrades) givng you time to turn inwards away from out there to consider your thought processes and perspectives. They need to be reviewed, deconstructed and renewed in the light of current reality. If you’ve become overly fixed on one way of seeing things, stretch your mind and experiment with opening your eyes to more options. Question the underlying assumptions from which you make day to day choices and decisions and re-invigorate them.”

(Thanks for sharing!)
For years now I haven’t washed my hair very often. Sometimes only once every two weeks. It’s difficult for me to find shampoo that doesn’t make my scalp itch and I know that your hair is better off with your natural oils and no chemicals. Seriously my hair doesn’t even start to look limp until the end of week 2. I may try the baking soda, vinegar thing when I next wash it.
The fact that the skin is our biggest organ and I don’t want to hinder it’s naural processes is why I don’t use anti-perspirant. I use deodorant but I make sure it is one with no anti-perspirant.
If I were going to watch any of it, I’d watch the debates and not listen to what other people had to say about them. I’m not doing either since I know who I’m voting for.

You’re already on the bandwagon then!

Great message with the card, and good news about the planets. The dog play pen looks great.
~
Hanny sent me a picture of the play-pen in their house when they first got it, but I can’t find it. I’ll keep looking. (Photos and I are not friends right now.)

Well, that’s a good reminder for me. Now cognitive therapy teaches me to be more rational, which does generally come down to not focusing on the negative and getting all wound up about it, but rather to focus on what IS and how to get what I want. I’m still not comfortable stating things that are not actually in my reality, like having the just-right job right now or whatever, but I am able to say I WILL have it.
Your new pool toys look great. As do the dogs. I love when you share pictures!

I’ve been trying to get at least one bonus pic, in addition to our card, every day. If I don’t accomplish this though, it simply means that it was a slow day here at The Burrow (or, more likely, I never LEFT The Burrow).

I so needed this reminder. They changed a system at work and I have been less than pleased with it this morning. I was stumbling over my negative grumpies. I changed my outlook and I am now trying to understand why a ‘new and improved’ feature is actually helpful instead of simply saying “Why the ef would anyone think THAT was helpful.”
It has made my morning more entertaining.

Entertaining can be VERY distracting, which often, is precisely what we need to get a better view of

Oh, good card. I’d done my share of negative thinking in the past couple of days and yesterday gave myself a stern lecture. : ) Just beginning to turn the corner and look at the situation with a more positive view. Hope it works.
Love that the doggies had a good vacation. ; )

All three of the Grand Dogs are seasoned travelers now. They did beautifully well. And I’m sure they enjoyed the change of scene/smell.

“cancel that thought” I like that, I just hope I remember to do it!
Love the hotel doggies!

Me too, but that’s why I like these physical reminders so much. Making a point of SEEING the card, and reading the message, I believe that does leave quite a bit of an impression.

I am working on creating my destiny and the power of thoughts is critical to that. This card speaks to that and confirms for me that I am on the right track. The book, Conversations with God, is my guide in this.

Yipee for our validation!
