We’re going to start today’s dose of The World According To Me with a picture of Max. Well, two shots, actually. And some explaining. I’ve been very disturbed lately because of his itchiness. It bothers him too.
The cone is not bad, but not perfect either. And he’s just about worn out his plaid jacket. Last night, after not too much effort, I got some pants to work pretty well.
To create this stunning outfit, I attached the top (after taking in the sides of an old tank top of mine), to the bottoms, using my sewing machine, and then tied the straps over his shoulders. We had a pin holding the knot in place, but for sleeping I thought that might not be such a great idea, doubling up the ends instead. What you can’t see is that there’s a bit of shirt under his neck and on his chest. That was one of the reasons this entire ensemble* stayed on so well.
*You gotta say that with a heavy French accent. Did you?
He seems to be doing better without the clothes or plastic barrier, for longer periods of time, but we’ll still take all of his accouterments with us this weekend. I’ll have his bag packed and ready for traveling tomorrow. When he’s WITH everyone, we can step in with gentle reminders that he really does NOT need to keep scratching.
When I got back from some gym time with Ryon this afternoon, these guys were all on the front deck. And Karen, here’s the reason why we don’t want shadows in our photos. A perfect example. They are distracting as hell and hugely bothersome. Nothing other than that, it just irritates me. All I can see when I look at this, is Dan’s hand and hair partially blocking the view of Grand Dog adorableness.
Am I super grateful and pleased that he captured this moment in time and shared it with all of us? Absolutely! Am I also ridiculously and irrationally unable to concentrate on the intended image because of that shadow? More than I can say.
Here’s the (on the sparse side) Foreign License Plate tally from today’s ride* downtown and back: Virginia, Mississippi, and Montana (wave wave, hi Barb).
*Yes, he fixed my bike. It was a matter of some shifty thing. No lasting damage, just a repair that could be done in the living room before he went to work. Woot!
On our card altar, we have come around to the duplicate set of my working deck, and since we’ll be using that, along with the newest Toni cards for this weekend, I thought we should see what someone else had to say. When I flipped it over, I was kinda surprised But still, this is worthwhile. Obviously, or I wouldn’t have been sent in that direction.
“Sexuality ~
Your sexual self needs some attention. By drawing this card, you are urged to be honest with yourself about your sexuality, and to take appropriate steps.
Sexuality is an important part of life, not just to our physical self, but also to our emotional and spiritual selves. The fairy realm understands the unique joy that comes from sexual experiences. They know about the Divine light that is created when you merge with a beloved partner. They understand the release that sexuality brings about.
By drawing this card, you are being guided to heal any sexual issues that may have arisen from negative experiences. If you were ever sexually abused, this card may signal a call for help from your inner self. You may be directed to seek professional counseling or a support group to overcome negative sexual or body image issues, or to heal a sexually unsatisfying relationship. The fairies will guide you to the appropriate resources so that you can be truly free to experience the dynamic aspects of your sexuality.
Affirmation:
My sexual self is attractive, healthy, and able to experience great pleasure.”

Healing With The Fairies Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue

Just found this site, the Nietzsche Family Circus, which randomly chooses a single frame from the Family Circus comic strip, and pairs it with a Nietzsche quote… this was my third, and the pairing was so perfect, I had to share… http://www.losanjealous.com/nfc/perm.php?c=143&q=16 .
OH, yes, stunning is the word for it… as it has stunned all my aesthetic sensibilities into a state of shock so complete that all I can do is laugh. Repeatedly. Poor, poor puppy!
I can see/understand the distractingness of the Dan shadow, but, if I look at it a different way, I think it adds a certain artistry to the photo. The shadow is barely on Max, and it helps balance out the very heavy shade of the tree that dominates the top left part of the photo. It is almost like an unintentional self-portrait, and adds an element of the unexpected, which I actually find to be quite charming. It is like instead of just Max, you get a sense of the world around him, without actually seeing that world. That is, really, a difficult thing to accomplish in a photograph, and I personally very much like the added depth (maybe it’s the Scorpio connection). Not that you’re not entirely entitled to be annoyed as hell with it.
Yay for deep-photographer-truck-driving-bike-fixing-Knights!!! Where can I find my very own one of those, dammit? To enjoy the card with, please, Universe? Thanks!

NFC – wow, I need to go spend WAY more time over there. I love when you share shit like this!!!
Stunning! Similar to the response I got from your fellow Scorpio pal when he heard about the original bottom-half-covering outfit I created (the one with the re-purposed man-panties waistband) “I have no words.” So yeah, he was sort of stunned as well.
Shadow/art. I can totally see what you’re saying. And if I had any taste at all, I’d appreciate it much more.
I have no idea where one goes in search of a guy like this. I wasn’t looking for him, he just happened to be there at the gas station. Of course, we’d done all of this several times before, so that helped us recognize each other. Let’s keep poking at the Universe, so yours can show up too.

Great website with Family Circus and Nietzsche juxtaposed. My favorite FC of all time was Bill walking away from a meeting at a table full of men and one fellow leaning over to another and saying “Did he really say ‘go potty’?”
*raises hand* One for me, too, before I get too old to care or want one. Thanks.
I love the outfit for Max! It’s nicely color-coordinated. He doesn’t seem to be obsessively trying to climb out of it.
I laughed at the caption of Max with the hedgehog. Hilarious. More of those captions, please!
That poor dog. What he has to put up with.
This sounds very judgey, doesn’t it? Mentally stick a winky face at the end of that, will ya?
Glad the bike fix was easy. Interesting card. I call sexual abuse “the gift that keeps on giving” in a very sarcastic way. There is nothing else that damages the soul like sexual abuse in any of its forms. (Except perpetrating it, however, that damage isn’t realized as much until the next life, when, in my belief structure, that debt comes due.)
Mrs Denial often “shocks” people (friends, family, clients, strangers) with her directness and openness about sex and sexuality. (Her favorite, I think, is calling people on masturbation– you don’t? Well, why not?). Hence the forwarded email that will be coming. Along with a Phoenix.
Max doesn’t look too unhappy. Hope the itching eases up soon. Glad the bike got fixed.
Oo la, la, c’est bon, Julie. Okay, that’s my French for today. Well, I like this card, I may be getting older, but I AM not dead yet. Ha. Have fun this weekend.
I love Maxie’s little clothes. You are ver clever in finding ways to keep them on him. We put Chester in T-shirts during one of his ‘episodes’ with pus and gore. He could eventually find a way to chew his way out of them. I hope we never have to go through that again, I’m coming to you for tips and tricks!!
Thanks for answering the question.
About the Maximum dog – might he have food allergies? Just asking because while he is all styling and je nais se quoi in his ensemble, I suspect he’d be happier if he didn’t have to wear it.
Enjoy your journeying!
Poor itchy boy! Does he do okay getting bathtub baths? Washing the allergens off his skin more frequently should help the itchies quite a bit. We have to wipe down Angus the Wonder Poopers on a regular basis as well as bathe him every two weeks. Apparently SoCal is horrible for Labs. More reason to move north!
Max is adorable, although I’m sure he’d like it better if he didn’t have to wear the clothes. Definitely check the food allergies. My uncles’ dog used to be super itchy (and on benadryl) until they figured out that it was his food.
Interesting card. I’m not sure where it’s guiding me.
Oh, and while you’re poking at the universe for Corina & Skye, do you mind adding a poke or two for me? The waiting is wearing me down, enough so that I’ve considered emailing you for a reading asking where the heck he is. But I like surprises, so I haven’t. Yet. *sigh*
There is way too much to comment on here. And some of the comments would fall into the tmi area. So I’m just going to say – I love the shadows in the picture. They add a nice touch.
