Changing Is Growing, apparently.

Well, that didn’t last long.  Just as soon as I said we wouldn’t be seeing Max every day, we start back up seeing him for two days in a row.  Fine, we’ll see him here when he shows up.  Whenever THAT is.

laundry dogs

So cozy.

Last night Empress was doing laundry, and I was helping.  At one point, just after yesterday’s post went up, I dropped a basketful of warm clothes onto the bed.  Guess who thought THAT was Nana’s best idea ever?!

Today it was a get-shit-done day for the gym crew, some of it in person, some on-line, and some by phone; as soon as the final details are worked out, the keys will be handed over and the storefront (with a tiny living loft above) will be theirs.  We’re all very excited about this new venture.  And we’re also VERY much looking forward to having a nice space for physical training and fitness.

Meanwhile, Dan and I are making preparations as the end of his vacation nears (at an alarmingly fast rate).  This is such a sad time for me.  He shaves (which I hate), he makes sure the patrol car is all ready to roll (which involves some vehicle maneuvering back and forth to the county shops), he gets a hair cut (which I also hate), and we buy groceries with on-the-go snacks in mind (more challenging now that we don’t eat packaged foods, and almost no dairy).

Tonight we enjoyed our pool class (complete with a couple of new folks as well as Matt, who is back in the water, by request but for a limited time only, with a couple of individual swimming lessons), and tomorrow we have both car and biking errands on our list.  I’m feeling the current transitionary phase full-force, and I have no doubts that everyone else in the family is too.

Which makes our daily draw so very timely.  What a NOT surprise, additionally, it goes frighteningly well with Hawk’s message.  From the category of

Creatures Of The Air:

Eagle, Raven, Owl, Humming Bird, Parrot, Peacock, Butterfly, Bat, Spider, and Bee

By different means all of these creatures escape the confines of earth.  They soar above material cares and worries and counsel that it is time to let go of our cares, to leave the past firmly behind you where it belongs, and to look for a new future where anything is possible.

Spider uniquely makes her gossamer home in the air, connected to earth by silken ties almost too fine to perceive.  She counsels that as you go forward in life you should remain attached to your past, but not be dominated by it.”

Butterfly  ~

Delight in life and embrace change as the source of your creativity.

As iridescent wings unfurl from a hard chrysalis, change incarnate, the Butterfly is born.  Some cross raging oceans, their apparent fragility belying their strength and endurance, some sip the flower’s sweet nectar for only a day, but all dance.

The Butterfly arrives to remind you to delight in life, to take time to experience what you love and to embrace the changes she brings as the source of your own creativity.  Through kindness and tenderness you will attain your goals.”

Great phrasing here, this symbol is absolutely “change incarnate.”  And as much as I dislike having to face the transitions, I know that once we get out the other side they are SO worth it.  I just need to keep reminding my stodgy self elf of that, over and over and over and . . . .

  1. Change is in the wind here too and not just the change in season. There is a house which may be our new house in the future or not. This house is not ready for sale. So much stuff that needs to be turfed or sold or given away. I may resurrect the blog with free stuff.

Max knows a warm cozy place to rest. Poor Dan, going back to work. His hair is a bit long, took a closer look at the man and his phone. Enjoy the last few days of the vacation.

You’re moving?! Maybe? Wow. Yeah, I think the blog would make a great place for the release of bonus items.

  2. Hey. Sorry about Dan’s vacay ending. I’m in the doldrums here. Having trouble writing a blog. Don’t want to go swimming. Need to do both. Yikes.
I want to be in the middle of the laundry with Max.
    I do love butterflies, though.

    ~
Tonight’s post should be inspiring for you. Good visuals. ;)

  3. Hmmn, must really be change in the air, because like Judy I am having a helluva time getting myself around to actually accomplishing much, and that despite that I have been working with fluorite and quartz, both. Eep. Butterflies are inspiring, though, let’s hope enough so that I can get off my keister and “giterdun”! lol

I saw you tweet a new post, and I can’t wait to get over there to read your update. I was JUST thinking about you yesterday!

  4. The cards have been weirdly apropos recently. This is certainly a time of change. Between the gym (which I am extremely excited about, and which I already promised Em I would be advanced-paying for) and school (I’ve been looking into completing my degree, which is apparently only slightly complicated by the fact that the degree program I was in six years ago no longer exists) and work (more later, and not online), things seem to be shifting underfoot. It will be… interesting to see how everything settles out. With my luck, “interesting” in the sense of the ancient Chinese curse, but interesting nonetheless.

  5. I missed commenting on yesterday’s post so first – go you! on the hike up the butte!!! Aren’t you just so damn impressed with how strong and able you felt?? And Hanna’s post was wonderful. I had read the blog post she linked to and such outrage I feel and fear for my own girl child who will soon go out into the world.

Fall energizes me. The cooler weather in particular makes me feel far more able to get shit done. Which I am. And I’m starting my swimmy class today! Although after I do fasting blood work for my physical so there is a little sammich coming in the car with me. Do you have any idea how grumpy it makes me not to eat breakfast? Think of a bear waking up after a winter’s hibernation . . .

    ~
Good plan with the little sammich. ;)

Yay for your new swimmy class!

  6. Yep,. vacation endos are no fun; just remember the fun that you had, and remind your beloved that there is such a thing as time off that isn’t vacation to be had…

Good card for today, and I like the “change incarnate” phrase myself.

We’re in the planning mode right now for a family fun weekend in Portland at the end of the month. I’m REALLY looking forward to it. Hotels!

  7. Sorry the vacation is ending. All good things, yada yada. Glad you had such a full of excitement and things to do vacation! (And got to see me, which is a vacation in itself, right? ;) )

I like butterflies and I like this Butterfly card. I might as well tattoo a butterfly on me because I seem to be change incarnate myself these days and in the foreseeable future. But it’s a good thing (I keep reminding myself) because I want to change my circumstances so much. Butterflies, ho!

And good luck to Emma and Ryon on their training venture.

    ~
Yes, meeting up with friends is ALWAYS a vacation bonus! :D

And thank you, tomorrow they should have the keys in their hands. Fingers crossed.

  8. I read a charming story, Three Wishes, by Stephanie Bond and finished it this weekend. It featured swarms of butterflies, a magical carpet, and a Genie. : )
Anyway, just want to say what others have mentioned that these cards have been spot on for me for about ten days.
And Max, so happy to see you Max. I wanted to pull the covers over my head this morning and stay in bed for at least a couple more hours. But nope. Work called.

    ~
Is this a book? And will my library have a copy? Because THAT sounds like the type of story I’d love!

    Max says hi. :P

  9. I’m with Judy3 and Robena and just want to crawl into the nice warm laundry with Max. The new workout space sounds so cool. and loved this: “to embrace the changes she brings as the source of your own creativity. Through kindness and tenderness you will attain your goals.” yup.

    ~
You were on my mind today. The your-body-is-your-gym book finally came in.
I ended up with both library copies. :?

  10. Maybe that’s what I need, to fall asleep in a pile of warm clothes for a while. Sounds restorative.

So sorry work is looming. If it’s any consolation, I know the feeling. :(

    ~
Thank you yes, it always helps to know that I’m not the only one.
Or, that it’s not just me. ;)

  11. Mmmm, a warm pile of laundry. But then I remember I’m the one who will most likely have to fold it. *sigh*

So sorry the vacation is ending. School has started here with all its usual garbage to go along with it. I liked summer better. And I dislike change. Have I mentioned that? :)

“The Butterfly arrives to remind you to delight in life, to take time to experience what you love and to embrace the changes she brings as the source of your own creativity. Through kindness and tenderness you will attain your goals.” Guess I should put this one up somewhere right now.

    ~
I like summer better too. But, when it’s laundry time, I like that as well. That, and doing my dishes at the end of the day, very satisfying.

It DOES always seem to have an attitude doesn’t it?!
