What We Know.

As I stood in front of our card altar today, the mood was NOT good.  My weight is pissing me off.  (Healthy, strong, old, blah blah blah,  I KNOW all of this, thankyouverymuch!  Don’t even go there, people, don’t even.)  So I did some deep breathing and asked for help.  What I “heard” was that I needed to turn completely around in the room, and look back behind me.  We were going with our newest deck.

This message was so meaningful to me, and it really improved my attitude.  I’m still not thinner, but I feel more focused.  Take a look at this one, it’s very good.  Like, VERY very good.

“Goddess Of Knowledge  ~

Start to apply what you already know;

Trust your intuition.

Some two thousand five hundred years ago, Plato, the great ancient philosopher wrote, ‘all learning is simply recollection.’

While study is important, remember also that all you truly need to know is inside of you.

The Goddess Of Knowledge has appeared in your reading today to encourage you to start to put all the wonderful knowledge that you already possess to good use.  You do not need to do further courses and obtain further certificates or accreditation in order to be effective in the work you would like to do.  Simply start doing it now.  Start to apply what you already know and trust your intuition.

Focus on love and light and ask the universe to guide you.  When your intentions and motivations are driven by love, the universe and the Goddess Of Knowledge will help you act in the best interests of all concerned.”

This switched my brain from obsessing about something that is, obviously, beyond my control, back to what is truly important.  I hope it helps all of you as much as it helped me.

We need to return back to yesterday’s card.  For three reasons.  Be forewarned, there will be pictures and renditions of snakes to illustrate my points.  Zoom past those if you really think you need to.

In the comments section Karen Buys reminded me that there is a gorgeous new post card on my bulletin board right now.  She sent it to me when she hired me for a special project.

pagan cross stitch designs

One of the best versions of The Greenman that I’ve ever seen.

All the supplies are ready to roll.  I just need to finish up the miniature I’m working on right now, and then the chart highlighting will begin.

ball python pictures

Beautiful!

Once my memory is sparked it just keeps on with the theme.  Ally and her Beloved went on a ride (on their motorbikes) recently.  They were visited by a lovely messenger, so the Mrs photographed it.

snakes on the road

Look closely
(or maybe not).

And lastly, my son commented, in the way he does, with plenty of perfect facts, and delightfully gentle humour.

Snakes, like all reptiles, are not slimy.  They are completely dry. *Some* amphibians, notably certain frogs and most salamanders and newts, *are* “slimy,” in that they exude a thin layer of mucus across their skin, to help hold moisture.  Snakes, however, are covered in a waterproof layer of scales, which are completely dry to the touch.  Well.  Unless it’s an aquatic snake, in which case, you know, it’s in the water and kind of HAS to be wet because of it.

Moreover, the majority of snakes are not venomous.  Of the roughly 2900 species of snakes worldwide, only some 725 are venomous, and of those, only about 250 species are capable of delivering sufficiently potent venom to endanger or kill a human with a single bite.

Sorry, but living with the world’s ultimate snake proponent has rendered me incapable of NOT pointing out snake facts, especially to counter the number-one misbelief about snakes, to wit, ‘they’re slimy.’”

So.  The thing is, I understand not caring for a certain animal (we all know how much I detest and despise cats), and I believe that we are shown certain things at specific times so we can learn.  We can’t go forward if we don’t have all the information.  Reminders and omens and signs cross our paths all the time, every once in a while they literally GO RIGHT ACROSS our very path in a physical sense.

Paying attention is how we, as my title implied, grow and change. This goes along with our card today as well, remembering and knowing.  We must live boldly, not allowing fear to cripple or side-track us.  Knowledge is power.  Both the infused inner type, as well as the outer, learned kind.  All we have to do to access it all is to trust our intuition.

car rides for dogs

Max,
ready to ride.

My Maximum Grand Dog and I went on an errand this afternoon. He was given another treat by the parking garage lady.  But when we got home, he headed straight back under the bed.  Only coming out when Dan was dressing for work and having some highly scent-heavy left-over chicken.

Virginia!

We spotted this rare sight though, on our way downtown.  And about five Nevadas.

  1. I was having the same “my weight is pissing me off” moment when I sat down. Perfect card and great message. Thank you. And I love Karen’s green man! please please post a picture when it’s done!

    ~
Always glad to know when it’s “not just me” about these things.

And oh yes, plenty of photos along the way. I was thinking that we hadn’t had any in-progress shots of projects lately. This one will be good for that.

  2. I like the card. Gonna have to sit with it for a bit, though.
Remind me, why is Max spending so much time under the bed?

    ~
He’s hot and itchy. As am I. Which makes us both crabby. :?

  3. I have a bit of a twitch going over this card. I couldn’t imagine someone going into a horse barn with no knowledge and presuming to work with a thousand pound animal on intuition. The possibilities for disaster slash acutal harm for person and animal are too great. So like I said, I’ve got a bit of a twitch on over this card.

On a happier note, I think Mercury has left the building. I’ve had no internet issues for 2 days now. I am VERY thankful for that (this to the Universe so it’s not thought that I’m cursing myself with this!).

    Cute Max!

In this regard that particular scenario actually COULD be one way to look at it. I’ve seen folks tune-in with the most poorly behaved huge animals, and have nothing but positive outcome. However, that’s not really what this card is talking about. So, we’ll just leave it there. And move on.

  4. Well, damn. I can’t say what I want to say, so I guess I’ll just shut it. *bites tongue* I hope you appreciate this!

    ~
Sure ya can. Robin did! I have absolutely no problem with discussing another angle here. On the other hand, I totally appreciate the restraint you are showing. :P

    (Don’t hurt your tongue though.)

(Also, you know the message here is more metaphorical/spiritual than physical.)

  5. Well, now I want to know what you couldn’t say Delia!! Must share. ;)

That is a good picture of the Greenman. Very nice.
Good card today. Much to think about.

Any time one of these messages sparks thinking and learning, I’m happy with it.

  6. I’m still picking up information on how to revise my story, things I don’t think I’ve internalized because no one ever taught them to me before. So I’ve been scouring ArghInk and Deb Blake is mentoring me in how to assemble scenes to keep moving the action and the story forward. The rest is coming from what I already know. I hope. :)

I love snakes. I like to hold them. I think they are gemlike in their beauty. But I would want to milk one for venom (ever!) without a great deal of training!

So I’m thinking that this card is referring to a subset of learning and knowledge, not specialized knowledge.

    ~
It’s not referring to ANY type of physical type of learning at all. The focus here is intuition, entirely. Not to be taken as a “shun all higher schooling” sign.

  7. I love JD’s response! And I am glad you got the message about the card.

    ~
We had a very lengthy text exchange last night, my son and I. ALL of his responses are good ones. :P

    Me too, thanks.

  8. PatchworkBetty

    Virginia….had to be me :)

Mercury has been messing with me! We were on vacation and were rear-ended on the 2nd day of our vacation(third day of Mercury’s antics). No one was hurt, but my car is totaled WhAAAAAAA! It had really low miles, and was 3 years old, so almost paid for. I know, I know — No one was hurt!

Sorry I’ve been out of touch for the past few months, but things here have been sucking out loud and I’ve been wallowing!

I miss everybody and promise to pull up my big girl panties and get on with it!

    ~
Oh I was WISHING it was you! You’ve been on my mind so much lately.

No worries. Relax. Take nice cleansing deep breaths. Look around at all the gifts you have in your life. Hug those grandbabies tightly and kiss those big kids. Hold the hand of your Beloved as you walk on the beach. Let the mess of the car go and don’t look back. Coming out of a Towering is exhausting, take your time with the rebuild. It will be stronger and safer that way.

Sending you love and healing, from me to you.

  9. Sorry about your “bad” weight day. :(

    Very awesome, inspiring message!

That is a wonderful Greenman image, and I can’t wait for the progress reports!

Great snake pics & thanks, J.D., for all the educational information on these misunderstood creatures!
