I woke up late today. Very late. Several times recently I’ve forgotten to turn on my alarm clock. If I don’t switch it to ON, I will just keep sleeping. Like this afternoon, for eleven hours. According to Dan, it WAS beeping, and I apparently turned it off. Huh. News to me.
There were many items on my list for the day, pretty much none of them got done as I thought they would (or done at all). That can happen when you get up at four. In the P. of M. (I know, it sort of surprised me* too. So much for making it to the bank by five.)
*I’ve slept for longer at one stretch though, so don’t be shocked by that amount of time. Not even close to my Personal Best.
Instead of where I thought we were going, the deputy simply went to work. As he left, I rode my bike to Sundance and just got apples. And some celery. Plus a carton of Toby’s. (For my breakfast. Which I ate shortly after 6:30, when the rest of the world was sitting down to dinner.) Everything was all nicely cold on my back as I pedaled home though, so that was sort of a treat.
There are plenty of different styles of carrying rigs all around these local bike racks I’ve been frequenting. I’m studiously checking them out. None are what I want. For now, I will just continue toting everything in odd assortment of carry-alls. And keeping my fingers crossed that maybe I’ll get a gift certificate for the customized messenger bag that I really DO covet.
There were many signs and omens in my path this afternoon (ya know, once I left the damn bed). Our daily draw was a great big validation.
Eight Of Wands ~ Speedy, and in order
Whenever this card shows up I know we’re on the right track. It signifies going at a good clip and going right where we need to. It’s all about efficiency, as well as exactly the correct direction to head in.
All things happen PRECISELY when they are supposed to. It’s as simple as that. It just is. We can bitch and moan about it, but all that does is makes us feel shitty. Our other option is to acknowledge that we set out on this journey to learn our lessons in the way that would benefit us the best, and the way in which we could help the most people.
Wands are energy, fire, passion, and inspiration. They explode with possibility and life. The new growth in the suit of clubs on the poker deck is represented here as crystal-tipped staves. Any way you show them, the oldest rendition, the newer versions, or some interpretation in-between, the meaning is the same.
One of the definitions I learned early on for this one was to call it Arrows On The Move. The illustration here certainly expresses that idea. As does the number. Eight is the infinity sign on its side, denoting endless possibilities. Symbolically, as Avia says, they
”….are seen in arenas where success is obtained simply because of dogged determination and repetition. Also, matters of business and wealth largely depend on cycles to fulfill their manifestation. It’s like the snowball analogy: as it continues to roll, in gets bigger and bigger with each revolution. Eight represents that kind of momentum.”
It’s just a matter of this one taking off and going where it needs to go. Where WE have set ourselves to go. Once this starts, it won’t stop until the task or situation is solved and taken care of. That, to me, is very reassuring.
Max has other things on his mind. He’s very busy, and couldn’t be bothered by his pesky Nana and her ridiculously ever-present camera.
Robin Wood Tarot
Now, if you’ll excuse me. There is a shower that needs getting to. Late. But, not forgotten.
