I’m going to be writing this post in two parts. Now, before we leave for the second event of Dad’s birthday extravaganza, and later, when we get back. The most exciting news of the day? MY COMPUTER HAS RETURNED! Whew. I am much relieved. Thank you both again, my sisters-in-California.
At this exact second, as I pre-write, my Hurricane is packing and getting ready to go back north. My most difficult time is now. Shortly I’ll leave for an appointment, and won’t be here for her departure. Much better this way (or when I just sleep through it). The up-side? She’ll be back in August. So, there’s that.
On our card altar this afternoon we have one from the category of
“Water Denizens:
Whale, Dolphin, Crab, Ray, Seal, Octopus, Crocodile, and Frog.
These creatures make the waters their primary home, drawing strength from this primeval element and flourishing thanks to its bounty.
The greatest of these, Whale, lives on plankton, the tiniest of organisms, while the most ancient, Crocodile, seeks flesh and blood. They counsel that you too may be nourished in myriad ways – that the seemingly insignificant can be the seed of the mightiest creation, as can be the most obvious and celebrated.”
“Octopus ~
Travel across earth and over sea to securely embrace your dream.
Octopus does not wait for fate to deliver her dinner of Crab, employing whatever strategy is necessary for his capture, even abandoning water for earth’s air.
She counsels that you, too, follow your dream. If your partner has left for a faraway land, join them; if a new exciting possibility calls from distant climes, embrace it as firmly as Octopus does Crab.
If others obstruct you, like Octopus, eclipse your actions in an inky cloud until your dream is securely within your grasp.”
Nice, that’s a very cool one. (Unless you’re Crab.) I’m always a fan of when the Universe tells us we can go after our dreams!
Second half, I’m back. No pictures, I left my camera in the back of the car (in a bag, long story, don’t ask). There was a Foreign Plate we saw on our way there though, which I grabbed with my phone.
(Also, dinner was delightful. We went here. They gave dad his birthday treat [baklava!] for free. Very nice folks and super good food.)
Well, isn’t that awfully dark. Okay, it’s also Illinois. Here, I’ll make it up to you, the desserts from last night.
There’s also a German Chocolate cake plus an almond poppy seed choice. Tomorrow we return to our regular schedule. Hopefully.
Max is on top of a shirt I ordered from a guy raising money for a really good cause. I’ll take a better picture of it and tell you more as soon as I can.

Glad Grand Sir got two days of celebrating! And free Baklava, yum!
Sorry Hanna can’t stay longer, but it’s great she’s coming back next month!
Octopus’ message is great, and octopi are such incredible creatures! My mom’s ex used to have one, and I guess they are super-intelligent, have personalities, and are great escape artists.
My, that was quite the treat spread yesterday! Lots of yummies! (No scale anytime soon, OK?)
Maximum perkiness!

No scales until Sunday.

Okay this jumped right out at me and sang – going to have to think about what that means: “eclipse your actions in an inky cloud until your dream is securely within your grasp.”
Not a clue. Loving it though.
Happy Birthday to your dad. Sounds like it’s a good one.

I have a VERY vivid image of that ink-cloud flowing, moving, ebbing, undulating gorgeously, through the clear water. Powerful idea, glad it spoke to you.

Nice message and super cute octo!

That illustration made me really want to go visit the one at our local aquarium.
Here.

Never thought much of octopus medicine. I do like the inky cloud imagery. Glad you guys had some good family time, too. Gotta go catch up on the stuff I missed while I was gone, now…

Welcome back!

More follow your dream stuff. Guess I’d better sign up for the freelancers’ association and look for work, and get to work revising my novel!

Good messages, I agree.
Be genuine,
that’s the bottom line.

Yeah, more follow your dream stuff. And not just here. I need to start paying attention and looking around.
Love Octopus! They are awesome animals and super smart and strong enough to give aquarists problems keeping them in their tanks. People suck sometimes. At the aquarium there is a sign that tells you -not- to use your flash when taking pictures of the octopus, he doesn’t like it. And people still do it. *sigh*
Looks like you got lots of yummies. Glad you all had a good time. Too bad it ends with Hanna going back. Bet you can’t wait for August!
~
At our closest place (link above) they have a person who stands next to the tank. THAT is their entire job, and it’s basically to stop the stupid people. Signs aren’t good enough, they just aren’t.

Love the card, our daily dog, and all the yummy desserts. Happy birthday to your dad.

We share all the left-overs, containers to take home for everybody.
But if a person isn’t quick enough (that would be anyone but me, like Dan or Emma) there won’t be anything left of the left-overs.
