Travel Day, the first.

There are not packed clothes, so much as the garments of three individuals strewn across two floors, upstairs, downstairs, and from every cardinal direction of this house.  With luggage near to hand, sort of like charming accessories.  Only limp, and not even close to being tasteful.  (I won’t mention the shoe bag.)

We leave in under an hour (fingers crossed).  I’ve gone for a bike ride, gathered as many plug-in cords as I can find, set out some snacking items (not all, haven’t located the To Go cooler yet), and Dan’s cleaned the car.  No panic yet, though.  And hardly any bickering.  So far so good!

There won’t be a Daily Dog this time, sorry about that.  See above mention of half-assed packing job begun.  We do have a shot from last night for you though, as promised.

Some projects.

These are needlepoint canvases from Kathy, a wonderful designer friend of mine.  I still need to set at least one of those onto stretcher bars, but it might not get done before we leave.  I can just pack up the supplies for that too if I run short of time.  (Ha!  Me and Time, how very amusing.)

Our last card before I hit the road for this trip (the first of FOUR* coming up!) is actually a stone I’ve heard, and really like.  It’s ocean colored and themed, of course I like it.

“Aquamarine  ~  moderation, energy, tolerance, gentleness, compassion, feminine, goddess.

Whether male or female, you can overcome a current conflict by reflecting upon and applying moderation, tolerance, gentleness, and compassion.  These qualities are not a weakness, rather, they are strengths.  What is called for at present is greater compassion and tolerance coupled with a little patience and gentleness.  It is possible to resolve things in an amicable way to create a positive outcome for all concerned.

As you look back on this current episode, you will realise a valuable lesson.  Compassion and tolerance are a sign of maturity and strength of character.  They are qualities that infuse all with love and light.”

I really like this definition, it goes so nicely with my New & Improved version of Me.  Also, it’s simply a very worthwhile message and something we can all apply to so many situations.

Next check in will be from afar.  See you there!

*Yes, this will be history-in-the-making for me.  I’ve NEVER gone so damn many places all in one summer.  Don’t worry, you’ll hear about each adventure as they come up.

  1. For me, usually trips that start out all scattered and chaotic like that end up really good. I send you those energy darts. I like aquamarine, too and dog knows I could use some moderation.
Happy, safe, fun, trip to the 3 happy travelers.

  2. Oh, aquamarine – my birthstone, and I hated it until recently when we went to the Natural Museum and saw some really gorgeous specimens. This is a great card right now – moderation is definitely high on my list of things to attain this week! :o ) Safe travels, Dear Girl!! :o )

  3. Safe journey. Aquamarine is also my birthstone. We have a phrase we use: “They have stores in (fill in blank of where we’re going). If we forget something, we can buy it”. This was after we forgot our toothbrushes on one trip and had to buy more. At a Fred Meyer in Medford. Who knew Medford had stores?

I look forward to your travel reports.

  4. Hope the rest of your day continued to be panic- and bicker-free! And that you have a safe, joyful, and awesome trip!

I love aquamarine! Your draw has synced with Henry’s again, with the double water theme, his being the Queen of Water (i.e. Moon-ruled, drawn, along with The Sun for the ECLIPSE… seriously!)… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WXpLu9aaSY&list=UUWJUbweIFXsBkb2m5OsTp-g&index=2&feature=plcp .

I was given a great opportunity to practice tolerance, gentleness, and compassion for myself… and, to go with the flow today! I am blessed & fortunate to happen to live in the path of totality of the eclipse, and had planned to view it alone, meditating and starting a manifestation journal. Welllllll… I was later than I had planned and intended in getting to the festival where there were going to be viewing glasses for sale, so they were all sold out when I got there… the only other place selling them nearby had sold out Saturday, 20 minutes after they got them in. And a helpful (and really cute!) employee of the hardware store said that he had called around, and every retailer of welding glasses had also sold out. And, the clouds seemed to be coming in off the ocean…

Old me would’ve beat herself up, and gotten angry with herself, for not being there when the glasses first went on sale to insure getting some… new me started to feel annoyed with herself, and then decided, no problem, that a contingency plan would be just fine… my mom and I decided to go up the hill to an “airport” (this is the loosest use of the term airport imaginable… it is really just a runway on the top of a hill in the middle of nowhere, with a B & B, and a small building that I doubt is even staffed), where the local Astronomy club was having a viewing party. It was a lovely setting, with friendly people willing to share their telescopes, pin-hole boxes, and shaded glasses. A view of forested hills for miles around, some lush, still-green more meadowy hills, and a view all the way down to the ocean. The haze came in, it got a bit cloudy, but not enough to blot out the sun completely, and I got to witness the “ring of fire,” without burning out my retinas, in a gorgeous setting, surrounded by friendly people! Really, all I can say is THANK YOU UNIVERSE!

Advice to my future self, and anyone who happens to live in the path of a solar eclipse: selling viewing glasses is a guaranteed money-maker!!!

  5. Safe and fun trip to you, Julie! I look forward to hearing all about it.

  6. Happy travels, dear cousin, and welcome to our fair state. I’ll think peaceful and soothing thoughts as you pass through our area on your way.

  7. As you look back on this current episode, you will realise a valuable lesson. Compassion and tolerance are a sign of maturity and strength of character. They are qualities that infuse all with love and light.”
Okay Universe — I get it.

    Have safe journies.

  8. Safe trip and have fun! At least you know what you need to pack! I’m snarling around waiting for a list from that girl of mine!

  9. I’m frequently crazy getting ready for a trip. Once I’m on the trip, I’m fine. Hope you have an easy, comfortable trip.

Good message today. And it can also be used to apply to oneself: be compassionate and tolerate of oneself, too. That’s the message of this week in the e-class I’m taking.

  10. Have a great trip, Julie! I love road trips, I’m looking forward to hearing about it.

  11. Braless Betty

Have a great trip Lunar! Where are you going? I just came back from the beach, it was AWESOME!

  12. Have a wonderful trip, Julie. Enjoy every minute.

  13. I have to remind myself that they have stores where I’m going too. I always forget one important thing – like a toothbrush or something. Hope you got it all packed and are having fun!!

  14. Hope you’re having a good time. Should remind you that the Golden State doesn’t have any Freddies. Plus, remember that time when you had to pump your own gas? It’s baaaaack….
I won’t even touch upon that Sales Tax thing.
