As I prepare for my auto-post tonight, typing right this second in the early-ish afternoon, Empress is heading back to her school. Max and I are overwhelmed and crushed by sad. So I’m distracting us both. Him with some sit-with-Dan-paper-reading-time and me with the Special Occasion deck and two pictures she took before she left.
They were in the guest room (not being as quiet as she had hoped) going over the Sunday ads and clipping coupons. He loves to burrow, but sometimes when he pops out from under the covers there’s a surprise waiting. Like a favorite gray toy.
Which must then be corralled back into its proper placement. I’ll set him up there when we leave for dinner in a few hours, not with the door closed though. Ha, because, ya know, that door can’t close any more! (I actually could not care less about the carpet, in fact I wish we could yank it all up and figure out why that floor squeaks so badly.)
One of the topics Carol and I discussed yesterday was my Allen Carr commitment. And how I’ve fallen half off the wagon. There will be a new resource arriving at the library soon, and I’m going to incorporate this idea in with the suggestions from my EasyWeigh. Merry is doing it too, so I’ll be checking in with her, and hopefully we’ll both make excellent progress.
I actually Laughed Out Loud, ironically and perversely, when I saw our card today. Oh you just TRY and tell me the fucking Universe has no sense of humour!
“Fairy Penguin ~ Will Power ~
In keeping with spiritual tradition, Penguins are celebrated as lucid dreamers; creatures capable of walking with clarity and intent in both the physical realm or ordinary landscape and that of the more obscure, non-ordinary reality.
The Fairy Penguin, for example, teaches us to picture in our mind’s eye a desired outcome and coaches us to physically and abundantly bring it to fruition. His strong will and self-belief means he will never be restricted by limitation or inadequacy, and if we follow his lead, neither will we.
Having evolved over thousands of years to an aquatic lifestyle, Penguins lack the physical prowess to become airborne like other birds. The strong-willed Fairy Penguin, however, refuses to surrender to jealousy of his sky-roving cousins. Rather than limiting himself, he searches for alternative ways to fulfill his natural impulse to fly. Instead of taking flight like a regular bird and soaring through the clouds, Fairy Penguin takes to the white foam of Grandmother Ocean. An earth-bound bird, Fairy Penguin joyfully circles the water with the subtlety of a Swallow. Dipping and diving through the subterranean valleys, skimming the peaks of submerged mountains and flitting in and out of thick kelp forests, Fairy Penguin ‘hawks’ for fish in similar fashion to how a Flycatcher seizes inspects while on the wing.
If Fairy Penguin has trundled into your cards today, know that you can overcome any limitation by adopting a resolute mindset.
Awaken your inherent creativity by listening intuitively to your dreams and trusting what they show you. Utilise your inner power now and believe in yourself because a time approaches that will require you to be a little more independent. Remove the blinkers, because you can achieve anything when you surrender your impediments by drawing on your willpower to find alternative ways of viewing them. Personal limitations cease being a problem when you seek constructive and achievable solutions within yourself.
It is a time to stop playing the drama queen, to acknowledge the aspects of your life that are hindering your growth and to deal with them appropriately.
Penguin is telling you that it is time to harness the willpower needed to fulfill your dreams, no matter what they may be.”
This is one of our most favoritest animals of all time. Every penguin is gorgeous, and we absolutely freaking adore them. But Fairy Penguins are beyond that even. This fabulous wee guy is from the Water category, which partly says:
” … eleven cards, charged with the energies of the West and the element of Water, embrace the emotions and the lessons of introspection, contemplation and meditation. Exemplifying the energies at dusk, the West symbolically represents the phase in life where we find ourselves asking ‘is this it?’ and the choices that present themselves as a result.”
So much to apply now that we know more about what is coming our way. Loading up on affirmations, positive thinking, all manner of viatl information and facts, plus this, being bolstered with the tiny but immensely powerful Fairy Penguin, I am more convinced than ever that we CAN do what we set out to (whatever that may be in all of our lives). We have the tools, we can accomplish SO much.

Animal Dreaming Oracle Cards by Scott Alexander King

Penguins are one of Sweet Babou’s favorite animals. I will do my best to brew up an “resolute mindset” as advised, and flavor it with really positive thoughts.
~
Ah, just another reason why I adore that man.
J
Pinguino! Almost as good as a llama.
~
Just as I was having your father proofread this I said, “Jade will comment about this one, you watch.” Thankgawd you guys never disappoint.
Good one, wasn’t it? Don’t we need some of these around the house though, with the mini horses?

Will power – that I am certainly looking for! I’m OK in the week but the weekends are a little harder
I got that net food diary thingy when Jenny Crusie recommended it on re inventing fabulous. Yes I could just use a piece of paper and a pencil and google the food values, but I paid money for that thingy, (at heart I’m a bit of a mean old cow!); I think it’s really helpful, that and my electronic weighing scales. If I put the bowl on the scales and measure the ammount, then there’s less chance of kidding myself. I am not good at portion control.
Penguins are awesome!
~
Yeah, portion control SOUNDS like a good idea, but doesn’t necessarily work consistently for me either.
J
I like penguins quite a bit (who doesn’t?) and love miniature animals (pretty much all miniature things).
I’m already on this part: “to acknowledge the aspects of your life that are hindering your growth and to deal with them appropriately”. That’s what the therapy is for and this great book that is helping me root out and deal with the beliefs and self-talk that I sabotage myself with all the time. In fact, I have to go finish reading my chapter for this week’s session, which is in just a few hours! (Procrastination? Why yes!)
~
Lol, I thought the same damn thing. Is there ANYone who does NOT love penguins? Really? Anywhere???
J
LOL Skye! I so understand the procrastination thing! I don’t know if I could handle getting something done ahead of time!
Poor Max! I hope he handles this week better than last week! The pictures were uber cute. It’s nice he likes to burrow. I have three cats and a dog none of which like to burrow or cuddle in the covers (one cat will play sheet monster when I’m making the bed, but that’s it). It’s the first time I’ve ever had animals that don’t and it took some getting used to (you have to respect the animal). I miss that.
Luuuuvvv penguins. A must see everytime I go to the zoo. That we have one here today to help us is awesome. Gotta focus.
~
“. . . you have to respect the animal” is the PERFECT way to approach it. Each are such individuals, and each are so precious.
J
Love penguins. And that’s a great card.
They said the noise was unbelievable.
Not sure if I told you this before. Anyway, my two sisters and their hubs were on vacation in Victoria, Australia. They stayed on Phillips Island where all the fairy penguins are. The first night staying in a small beachside house, they woke at around midnight to the hum of voices. The men got up and with a flashlight quietly went outside. The back of the house faced the water and was built up a few feet off the sand. Underneath were thousands of fairy penguins, taking shelter, or having a party, or something.
~
AH!!! I LOVE this story! Thank you for sharing it, and the next time you are in touch with those sisters and their hubs, please remind them how very damn lucky they are! We’d sell a damn kid to see/hear those gorgeous and magical creatures up close.
What a gift!
J
Too funny, Julie. Willpower – yep, we both need to turn it up a notch. Now, if you get discipline or did you get it a couple of weeks ago? Our conversation in a nutshell. Willpower and Discipline. Penguins are cute birds aren’t they!
~
LOL! Damn, that WAS our conversation in a nutshell wasn’t it? Wow, we should branch out or something. Or wait, better, we should just keep doing this MORE OFTEN!!!
(On my way to secure a passport this week, I promise.)
