Another Moon Day Medley.

Two things before I forget.  The first one is what I alluded to yesterday, that we needed more room for, which I will get to next.  The second item of business is a bit on the political side, which we will address now.  (Yes, the first thing second and the second thing first, shut up, I’m dyslexic.  And SPECIAL!)

We don’t usually go all topically newsy and shit in JulieLand, because it’s damn obvious how far left I am, but WITH all of these law enforcement influences (not to mention how I was raised by a Marine Corps Drill Sergeant, with guns around every freaking corner and under all the beds), so it’s best to just leave these types of discussions for other places.  Except for right now.

Two years ago my son started a blog, because he had a point to make, and he wanted to exercise his freedom to speak it here on the interwebz.  Last night he wrote his second post.  I encourage you to read both of them.  Just don’t forget that where his mother writes is a Hate Free Zone.  (Now I have to go change the title under Important Family.)  J.D.’s TWO post blog.

As I mentioned, my seasonal managerial career has come to an end.  My income now depends on how many readings I can drum up and how many bad words I can cross stitch for like-minded readers.  Except when I find money, then it’s just free and festive.

That was what I saw in the street on yesterday’s (extra) wander around the neighborhood.  The finding began before we left for our Seattle adventures, just after I started to really accept the fact that my kiosk was NOT coming back.  When we got on the train there was some assorted change in my assigned seat.  As we stepped off on our Portland stop-over, there was a nickel on the ground.  After our bus ride, and while we were marching up the hill to Han and Adam’s new home, I noticed a penny by the curb.

This continued nearly every time we went out over the weekend (sometimes twice in one outing).  And it’s not let up since we’ve been home.  What I interpreted from these (overwhelming) signs was that I don’t need to work in the mall anymore, I’m going to do just fine with my independent income from now on.  That money will just continue to show up.

Not everyone agrees with me about what these coins from above mean right now.  And in fact, SOME people are saying that if I am going to try and live on (or just even try to contribute) this found money, it should be paper dollars, not random coinage.  My feeling is, well … who’s the witch wise old crone around here?!

(This is another type of omen than when ONLY dimes show up, that’s about cycles.  And yeah, in a way this is too, but its over-all feeling is slightly different.)

My lost list was apparently more than one, because when I found a scribbled-on scrap of paper earlier today, it only had a few Foreign License Plates on it, and I know I wrote down more than these three: Illinois, Massachusetts, and Wyomeeeee.   I’ll keep searching, they usually show up within a week.

Turns out (ROBIN!) that it was most fortuitous of me to grab a bonus trudge on my “day off” because this afternoon turned into gawdamn night-time practically by three o’clock, and we ran out of light.  I dressed for erranding, but with the thought that we’d do some walking while we were out.  Yeah, except I didn’t count on the sideways freaking rain.  That blew my umbrella inside out.

Daniel and I have made an executive decision for Moonday Marches from this point forward, until the sun starts going the other direction anyway.  Our last stop is going to be someone else’s neighborhood and we’re going to lock  up the car, then head out exploring, where there are street lamps and parking lot lighting.  We’ll keep you posted on how this goes.  Tonight we ended up at a donut shop.  So far, not so great.  Except ya know, yum: donuts.

And, some Chinese food.   We ordered ONE dinner each, and a side of broccoli beef.  We ate when we got home.  And ate a lot.  That picture above represents our left-overs!  Go here when you’re in town.  I think they still have a prime rib special one day a week too.

Here’s our crystal message for the daily draw, I love this deck so much.

”Prehnite  ~  profound spiritual love, protection, prophetic vision.

You are about to gain a profound spiritual insight in the form of a prophetic vision which appears to you in your dreams or at a time in which you least expect it.  Through this you realise that, at the heart of the matter, only love exists and that our perceptions of good and evil are simply a human illusion.

A deep inner knowing will swell from within you and you will realise that all is literally bathed in love; nothing can ever harm you or have a negative effect on you, apart from your own fears.

Through this experience you will have no doubt that a higher force does exist, and that through this higher force, all is possible.  As you begin to trust in the universal power of love to guide you, your life will take on a greater meaning and purpose.”

Last night I smelled something, that wasn’t really here, or rather, wasn’t really NOW.  If you’ve followed along for a while with me (or been through the History Quilt) you’ll know that this is hugely significant.  Also, we need to maybe ignore the use of “literally” in this definition.  Just a thought.  Otherwise though, WAY cool!

  1. I love that your walk ended up at a donut shop. We don’t even have a donut shop here or I might try that. It would certainly be better motivation than anything I’ve come up with so far, and would fit inside my current eating practices since I’m basically eating whatever I damn well please until the semester is over. which I may regret later. :-)

  2. Much With to be Happiness

Seriously – go to the Lok Yaun website and read it. These folks have been a Eugene institution for 40 years and the website reads like translated bike assembly instructions – these people are adorable.

(Not making fun here, just mentioning. And we DO have plenty of left-overs. J)

  3. What a great idea to go exploring in another area. Exercise – in safety , new things to see and Doughnuts and Chinese food to round it all off! Fantastic. :)

  4. I approve of striking out for new explorations!!! And, I have to get myself one of those crystal decks – so beautiful!! :o )

  5. I was trying to wake up here at the butt crack of dawn, so I nipped over to your son’s blog. Of course, I had to read the other one and got my first laugh of the day. And since my laughing at this hour of the morning is basically unheard of, I had to share, “Gun control means using both hands.” So my son and husband had a good laugh early too.

I’ll let you slide on the extra walk, seeing as how you had sideways rain and all. :)

I like this crystal deck really well. But then I just like crystals any way I can get them. So does my daughter. And speaking of which, since I have to be up at this crappy hour, I think she should too. Misery loves company. :)

    • So glad we could provide you with some laughs on this killer early day you’re having. I got going pretty briskly today too (as evidenced by right now having the time to comment before it turns into tomorrow/after posting hour).

      • Sooo…the next time I use your name talking to the driving angels, can I send word to the weather angels, too? Pouring rain and fog -all- day. The – mountains – just – sucked. BUT, had and saw zero accidents up and back. Ahhhh, home sweet home.

        • Oh shit, sorry. I totally forgot to do anything about the weather. Now we’ll know though, remind me next time. :?

(Glad you were safe as far as traffic goes.)

  6. Lok Yaun does a lot of our cooking…and they are nice and close! I read JD’s post, and have forwarded it on to Mrs. Denial; we are having a spirited conversation with a friend about this, one who really lacks the education and the understanding of how the police must operate. Reminds me of the ACLU argument that baton strikes were less “cruel” than pepper spray…

Good card, good food, good fortune. Can’t get much better than that.

    • These discussions must be happening in more houses than just ours, we can’t be the only ones who understand OWS and want to be part of the movement but must also do our jobs.

  7. Love seems to be the theme for me this week. I just read something else that’s similar to “a deep inner knowing will swell from within you and you will realise that all is literally bathed in love.”

I read JD’s post, although I know little to nothing about the subject, and I thought it was interesting… I’ll probably be ruminating on that for most of the day.

Glad the money is appearing for you! :)

  8. I hope money (although a bit more of it) continues to appear when you need it most!!

  9. PS — I went to The Son’s blog and left a comment. I honestly understand how cops are between a rock and a hard place right now. Frankly, I think they should join the protesters and demand their pensions back from the Wall Street gamblers that lost them.

    • It’s a difficult one isn’t it? This must have been exactly what a very large portion of those cops on the front lines felt like during the Vietnam protests. No one AT ALL wins under circumstances like this.
Oh wait, those 1% asshats always do. :(

  10. GAH! I loathe the use of “literally” when people mean, “simply” or some other modifying word.

Literally means – it REALLY happened, not that it is like it happen in a book. What the word could be is “metaphorically.”
    - Grammar & vocabulary police at your service.

I’d comment on more but there’s stuff to do. Sigh.

  11. It was the glass Jesus heads, wasn’t it? The glass Jesus heads will always do your kiosk in.

I have to agree that using pepper spray on peaceful protesters is both dangerous and unnecessary. However, I would also say that if you are protesting, and you are in a place you know you are not supposed to be protesting, and you have been asked to leave it by the police and warned that if you don’t you will be removed, and you respond by sitting your butt on the ground and linking arms with the people next to you, thereby making it nigh on impossible to remove you peaceably, you are no longer peaceful protesters. You are protesters who are trying to make a statement by being arrested — which, hey, your right. But if you put yourself in that position, you should be prepared to deal with the consequences. And I probably should have said this on JD’s blog. Feel free to move or remove as you see fit.

    • LOL!!!
Totally had to be those glass Jesus heads…

You nailed it here, and no it’s fine to have this in my comments, I want to cut and paste them, so they’re over at his place too though. Thank you.

  12. …”it’s best to just leave these types of discussions for other places.”

    Yes, please.

Self-righteous, never pretty. And that’s as political as I’ma gonna get.

    • As I said above, isn’t it just the most difficult thing right now though? Not good on either side, and even THAT is not completely right, there aren’t just two sides. :(

  13. lol you’re holding a dime. The first thing that came into my head was – what? What else are you trying to tell me?
I like all your change talking.
