We nearly walked my puffy hooves off today! And wow, the weather continues to impress. Look at this view. I could win a freaking award for this shot. (Yes, she fixed my camera, thanks Hurricane.)
We peeked in shop windows, we checked out some haunted locations, we picked up a few necessary items, we chatted with locals, we helped out some tourists, we had some walking and talking To Go food, we thoroughly enjoyed the weather all afternoon. And we bought candy.
Here’s the Foreign License Plate report: New Jersey (!!!), Montana, BC (cheers!), and North Dakota. All within about two blocks of each other. Also, that NJ car was filled with University of Oregon girls (from Eugene, up here with us).
I’m going with the auto-post again (fingers crossed) and the auto-tweety because we are going out tonight.
Here’s the first of our cards from my deck that we’re going with while I’m away. A thought-provoking message for sure.
Ten of Wands ~ burdens, manageable and not.
Tens are cyclical, the coming and going of our life cycles. The new chapters in our lives are often marked by 10s. When you find dimes or Tens keep showing up, this is a sign that we are about to turn the page and move on to something new.
Wands are the brilliance of new ideas and inspirational bursts. Those ”out of the blue” brainstorms are perfect examples of Wand strength and radiance.
Usually we’d say that 10 of Wands is about being overburdened, but I’m thinking this is more indicative of carrying the workload we need to, and balancing that with what else is going on. We can shoulder our own sticks and help others when they need us to, all the while being aware of not allowing ourselves to become overwhelmed.
Like yesterday’s oracle message, this one is telling us that what we first see may not be the first impression we think it is. We can see around the load we are toting as long as we are aware of our path ahead of us. There is also a destination in this one.
Farther down this road there is something to look forward to, “look forward” is the key phrase here. Hold carefully to what we need to cart along, not letting our sticks block our view or feel like a burden. We shoulder these responsibilities for a reason, not because we are forced to but because we are capable of it.
Okay, off we go, but first one more bit of our day. Water features! We saw several gorgeous waterfalls and fountains in our city treks today. And you know how I love the water features… you guys, I am having such a great time!

Yay for auto post. Did you guys enjoy the sports bar and Duck game?
We sat in a bar surrounded by Huskies, fraternizing with the enemy near the end. Why yes, the Ducks did win.
God willing and the creek don’t rise…should be a nice day tomorrow. But then this is Seattle. Land of fickle weather. But two out three interweb weather sites say its a go. So happy you had a great day. Lots of food places. Go forth and conquer tomorrow. Cheers.
Big plans tomorrow: exploring Capitol Hill, ordering a personal (?) pizza, and Thai food for dinner.
Oh, was that all about food? Well we’re hiking everywhere so that totally counts for movement.
It’s all about balance – yummy food in , loads of calories expended getting to the next watering hole. Good company, new things to see, and oh yes yummy food!
So glad you’re having a good time.
Where did my earlier comment to you go?
Yay for a great visit. That is a cool photo. And I like that all the daily walking has paid off for you.
Damn, I like these traditional decks. I especially like this one with the wands as staves.
When a deck speaks to you it really can make such a difference in how you work with it.
Has Dad had a piroshki yet? ‘Cause he totally needs to. If you DO wind up at Pike Place, make sure Han takes you to the weird little Cajun food shop next to the AWESOME BAVARIAN BUTCHER that you should also buy stuff from.
We DID see the Bavarian Butcher Shop! And they had a pint in the haunted pub right down the alley.
Glad you’re having a fun trip!!
The card’s a good reminder for me… Again with the balance!
Lol, I know, that pesky Universe and all it’s damn reminding.
Nice post. Glad you’re enjoying the trip and that the weather is behaving.
Thinking of life in tens, I can go back in time and see the big changes that came with each ten year phase. Sometimes starting at nine and ending closer to eleven, but the highest (or lowest) point was at the ten marker. Hmmmm. Wonder what my next ten will show? : )
I’ve often seen it as chapters, and pages turning in the book that is our lives. The ten year cycles can be pretty clear too.
I’m So glad you’re having fun! Seattle is a great city. And you’ve got sunshine! Hurray!
The weather has been outstandingly perfect!
Yeah for walking around Seattle! It’s such a pedestrian-friendly city. Unlike Houston.
Oh well, there are trade-offs. Glad the weather is behaving for you. I hear it’s damned cold, however. Hope you are bundled up warm!
I love traditional decks, too. I am curious, tho. Most cards do have a “challenges” face to them, but you always read them with a positive spin. sometimes life is burdensome. Very. Sometimes things do suck or are less than positive. Do you ever read a card that way? Because read that way, cards do carry a message.
That will need an entire post to answer, in fact, I know I’ve actually answered it before. (Robin, in your archival foraging, have you run across this?)
Not yet. You haven’t even started your daily readings, yet, where I’m at.
I think I recently read that bit. Let me go back and see if I can find it.
You had a comment about it on March 21, 2011 and on March 13 gave a kind of description about how you read the cards in general. That’s all the back-tracking I’m doing though!
Oh Em GEE! Thank you so much for all that work!
Skye, I hope that answers your questions.
Sounds like the trip is fabulous! I haven’t been to Seattle since the 1986., seems like we should plan a trip!
We’ve been up here, in some configuration of family members, several times a year since she headed off to college in 2005. First Bellingham (which I adored, but it’s further up the road), and now Seattle. Honestly, if we didn’t have a kid to see/stay with, we really wouldn’t pick it as a destination.
It was 1986 for Bellingham too, we have parents of one of my jr. high (soooo long ago) friends, who retired in Bellingham. Mt. Baker is gorgeous and the whole vibe is great. We weren’t in the area but a few months and moved (military), but we enjoyed our time there greatly.
Ah, the ocean. A stab of longing hit me with your picture. As a young child I lived in southern California. I do miss the ocean. That aside, I am so glad you are having such a good time with your family. Isn’t it wonderful to play all day with no ‘work’?
I lived in Santa Barbara from age three until nine… oh man, the ocean there…
Holy crap. I am 1 year older than you. Long Beach age 0 to 11.
We used to go visit my cousins in Long Beach during all those years. Wow.
I’m so glad you are having a wonderful time – you so deserve it! Enjoy!
A fabulously great time!
I’m so glad you’re having good weather. I’m pretty sure that I have almost exactly the same shot as your first photo, I know just where you were. I love Seattle, and am living vicariously this weekend– thanks for the pictures!
Dan says he wants to see this picture, so we can compare!
Sunshine in Seattle? A charmed visit for sure. The shot is beautiful, as is the water feature. I’m so happy you’re having fun. After all that stress and discomfort, you deserve it.
Still sunny!!! Still fun!!!
This past week was an exercise in carrying the burden, because I could. There was nothing to do about the power except bundle up, and then, later, feed the borrrowed generator gas all day long. It was what it was.
I did miss you all, though! I didn’t even have time to check in on people through my phone! (The Captain would clue me in, because he would read your blog on his Blackberry on the train). I’m happy you’re enjoying yourself-it looks lovely there. I would like to visit the Pacific northwest next.
The Captain checked in with me? From the train? Every day?
He reads you everyday. He’s a stealth follower. Saturday, he said, “Julie has a new picture on her blog of a house.” So I don’t know if he just finally noticed your header, or saw your picture. The Blackberry has a small screen. But he kept me up to date!
Glad to see you back Megan! Hope the power issues are all cleared up. Mother Nature can sure be a bitch
They are, and we are most happy that the constant generator noise has ceased!
