Our day started WAY too early this morning. Yep, morning. See the problem there? Daniel is still having to deal with this current Mayberry situation, so they still keep calling him in. “Early” doesn’t even come close. But hey, he had been in bed for nearly four hours this time!
To translate, think about folks who go to work around 8 or 9 a.m. Let’s invent one in particular, now think about how unsettling it would feel to this pretend person if the boss started ringing their phones between 2 and 3 in the morning, after they’d only been to bed about three or four hours earlier, and insisting that this individual come in to work NOW! And stay until like well after dinner time, ten or more hours later. First damn thing on a Monday! Yeah, it’s icky here. I have no idea when he’s going to be able to catch up on his sleep, and I had to walk alone. Again.
Let’s just look at our card du jour and then re-cap a few things after that. Much more entertaining and not nearly as depressing.
“Support ~

Experience the joy of serving others.”
Okay, gah. I just noticed that this illustration has a freaking cat in it. THAT didn’t help me to feel better at all. Fine, moving on.
Last night, after the family celebrations ended, we went to grab some dinner. But first Empress had a few coupons she needed to redeem. Her father went inside the grocery store with her while her brother and I wandered the complex. It’s a strip mall type of thing near Bryan’s house, and I’d never actually walked around over there before. Here is something ya don’t see every day. At least, J.D. and I don’t.
They were closed. Which was probably a good thing, because it really would have been rude for me to just stand in front of their window pointing and laughing hysterically had the business been open. You have no idea how much this sign (and the idea behind it) creeps me out. My son was envisioning a large crane-like vehicle that dipped the customers into huge vats of boiling hot wax, not unlike a flea dip, or the process involved when dunking donuts into coffee.
Even though we had an abbreviated weekend we did still have some fun. Last night being the highlight, but the day before Dan made us cookies, so that was quite fabulous as well.
We used what we had in the cupboard, so these started with a carton of El Cheapo rolled oats, and the recipe on the box. They turned out great! I ate like four within the first mere moments of their appearance. If someone really wants the recipe, I’ll go find it. Basically though, it was just oatmeal cookies. (Really really good ones.)
As I was trudging along today, acknowledging my various aches and pains (which were slightly less than the degree of discomfort I experienced on Monday’s limping trek, but still more noticeable than I would like them to be) I was also thinking about how there wasn’t much to notice in the neighborhood. I was saying to my wee self elf, where are my signs and messages? When I saw this.
A neon green Post It with the words, check for signs, written on it. This is like the opposite of an answer. It’s more like an echo of a response. Lol, so funny there Universe. How very amusing you are today!
Time for some cute puppy pictures now right? Go here, and see what’s new at Karen’s house. You will NOT be sorry you did.
Inevitable Dental Health Update: yes, the bridge fell out. While I was eating birthday cake. It’s in a ziplock bag my brother nicely provided for me (with way less drama than I had thought might be the case), and I’ve left a message with the dentist’s office. He’s not going to be happy with me. But I DID say that last time it was the wrong moon phase….
(As I post this, going on 11:00 pm, my Beloved has been on duty over 13 hours now. Just a little somethin’ for folks to think about when they bad mouth cops.)
