Are you all sick to freaking death of me and my crappy mall job? I certainly am, and we haven’t even hit the busiest part yet. Well, I DID get to sleep in today, nothing early and no disasters (went in around 3ish, much more manageable, tomorrow will be the same). So I am immensely grateful for that.
In fact, I wanted to share a lovely thing that happened yesterday (which I forgot about in my exhaustion of last night). As I said, one of my tasks, during that marathon I called Friday, was to haul a big bunch of boxes out to my Wee Walnut. Some were flattened and some were still in their box shaped guises (those were filled with bubble wrap, so it’s not like any of it was heavy). I had shoved them (as a towering stack) through the mall to the exit where I was moving off to the side so some shoppers could walk past me, when a woman stepped between me and the door.
“Do you need some help?” She pointed to her teenaged daughter and continued, “we are going out to the parking lot and could carry some of those for you.” I was shocked. The LAST thing I expected at that moment was help! I said, “sure! If we could just get them to the curb I can take it from there.” (I knew I’d collapse my precarious tower if I tried to scoot them across the cement.)
We divided everything up and they helped me get it all outside. It was so lovely, and they were so kind. Really a nice change from the rest of my rushed and overwhelming day. They went off to their car and I went trudging across acres of asphalt to bring my mine around. (The reason I didn’t just leave all of this in the recycle bin was because we are going to have a stock switch over next week and we are going to need all of this. Right now most of it is scattered around my living room. It happens every year, we are used to it by now.)
Today I realized we hadn’t looked out the hall window recently, so I took this picture.
It is still technically fall, but I have seen other trees with no leaves left, unlike this one. Yeah, even our yards have a tendency to be delayed. I also flipped over the calendar page upstairs (so I was three days late, I’ve been busy) and thought you might like to see this photo as well.
Now that’s what winter looks like! It’s really raw and super gorgeous, where ever it is. (Remind me to get this type for next year too, I like these lighthouse images so much.)
When I went to get our card du jour I counted the decks (because I have been wondering about that salmon/salmon phenomenon). We are touring around our altar with 8 decks, plus the Special Occasion one from Australia. Ups the odds even more, now that I think about it and (sort of) contemplate the math.
For today we have returned to Doreen’s Healing with the Fairies.
“Visualization
Your clairvoyance, your dreams, and the pictures in your mind’s eye, are becoming more clear and powerful. This card asks you to trust and to develop your visual skills, and to use them in conscious manifestations.
The fairies know the power of conscious visualization as a tool of manifestation. By drawing this card, you are guided to sit quietly and to visualize yourself living a healthy, happy, abundant, and meaningful life. Try to sit with these images daily if at all possible. Visualize only what you desire, and avoid picturing that which you do not want in your life.
You have powerful visual skills, even if you are unaware of them. Affirm daily as you sit for just a few moments, ’I am a highly visual person.’ Any blocks that you have about clairvoyance will begin to lift. Know that it is safe for you to see the future, the spirit world, and the truth about your life. By releasing any fears or apprehensions you may have about ‘seeing,’ your visualization powers will be greatly magnified. Which will only enhance your life, and bring great joy as you journey toward your Highest Good.
Affirmation: It is safe and healthy for me to see. I am a very visual person.”
Not so much wrong with life when there are small random acts of kindness like that. I am a bit of a glass half empty girl when it’s winter – don’t love the dark. But I love to find the good stories, to lift the gloom .
So I’m going to visualise lot’s and lot’s of small kindnesses!!
Doesn’t the card go nicely with that lovely helpful woman? I’m going to do the same, visualize tons of small kindnesses too!
oooh i am a visual person and I can be CLAIRVOYANT this card is awesome! i have had a bit too much sugar already this morning so i’m alarmingly cheerful but i still love the fairies! wonderful fairies! also delightful people who are helpful at a mall during the holiday season which is so rare!
The messages of this deck are really the key, obviously the illustrations are slightly dated. Not as bad as the archangels, but still, could use some updating in the imagery.
I don’t think it is just your trees lagging behind. The maples on Garfield/Arthur are trying to pretend it is still late October, and it seems to me that they’re usually pretty deviod of leaves by this time of year, normally. I love the view out your window. It is inspiring me to do what I had considered doing a year or so ago and take a weekly picture of the maple tree that is on my deck (OK, Japanese Maple, and it is in a container) as it goes from winter to spring to summer to fall. I am out grilling just about weekly, so that will be kind of fun.
And, apparently, I get bird medicine a bit more than farie medicine.
Great, another thing I apparently can’t get you as a gift. Fine, no fairies either. Jeez, you are hard to buy for!
Hooray for random acts of kindness. I was half expecting you to tell us that they grabbed your boxes and ran, intent on selling everything on eBay. Not that I’m cynical or anything.
Oh you are as bad as Dan. I was just hoping she wasn’t upset that my boxes and I were so very much in everyone’s way! Her daughter was adorable too, very sweet.
I, too, love glimpses out the window to your deck. Only thing it’s missing is snow – but you have much more winter-type weather than we do. Heck. We’re still “basking” in near 80* weather (pouts). I want snow!
Yay for someone actually imbuing the holiday spirit and helping you out!
We get a huge variety of weather from October to February. After (and before) that it’s just rain.
Loving the snow on the blog…I thought about doing it and then decided it would be a bit dishonest since it’s the middle of summer here lol. Love the story of how the lady and her daughter helped you…now if only everyone would take a little time to do something like that.
Visualization is good and on a 30 degree day that card looks real nice haha.
Right, snowing in summer isn’t really so timely so is it?
It was a small thing, but it was so lovely.
That was a lovely story. There are still people out there who are helpful and caring. An older gentleman dropped his coffee the other day, a pensioner, he looked so disappointed, I bought a coffee for him, he was so surprised and so pleased. If only more people would step up and be helpful and kind, it really would be a kinder world.
I went to the mall today, wasn’t planning on it but the Big Guy wanted me to meet him for lunch. Something seemed to be missing, it was the music. Most of the stores did not have ANY music, well, Bombay had lovely soft music. It was so surprising. Less in your face, over the top decorations, no music, interesting. I thought of you, wondering if you were working the booth.
Yay, you were someone’s angel that day!
No music? That’s kind of odd. Maybe their system was down. So nice that you thought of me. I see things all the time now and think of you guys constantly!
